Very large suite which was lovely and cool on a hot day, despite no air con. Everything was very clean. Reception staff were very cordial and helpful. Beds were very comfortable.

There was some evidence of damp in our room with wallpaper coming away/puffing up near a window. Breakfast was very disappointing. We had smelled bacon and read on here that hot breakfast was cooked to order but despite the waitress coming to our table with coffee several times, nothing was offered and I ended up with a dry roll and a hard-boiled egg as I’m lactose intolerant. Also there was a lot of noise from guests arriving back close to midnight, running around and shouting. Generally the hotel experience was positive though.

Lovely old hotel with beautiful features - wood panelling in the reception, lounge and dining room. Comfy leather lounges in the reception and lounge area to read a book or newspaper. Buffet breakfast - range of cereals, breads, small danishes, hot breakfast made to order, ours was a tasty omelette and bacon. Lift to each floor. Clean, comfortable bedroom, room to walk around the bed and areas for luggage, warm quilt. Modern small bathroom with a shower. 5 minute easy walk to the train station. Buses nearby.

The large shower was great but it had a step up into the shower but if you had mobility problems you wouldn't be able to use it. No grab rails. Suggestion move the access to the shower closer to the shower head device Toilet cramped. The carpet needed replacing. If you are using the train station to travel in France the Calais train station does not have a lift. Inaccessible for people with wheelchairs.

Very comfortable bed with 2 pillows each, on our first day, we are so tired and just slept through. They changed our towels every day. Kept our room tidy. Thank you all for looking after us, we have a nice stay👌

The light on the hall way didn’t come on easy, you have to walk further to let the other lights on but the one near our door don’t . Not a big deal as we used our phone to light our door as we try to open our room

The hotel is close to the train and bus stations but also has free off street parking It's about 5 minute walk to the street that leads to the beach with all its restaurants and shops. The beach on a sunny day is beautiful and that's what we had The hotel is a little dated and rather dark but it's clean and comfortable and everything works and it's reasonably priced so nothing to complain about.

Location was very close to the Ferry, which is what we were needing. Neighborhood a bit dodging, but ok. Sheets and towels clean and soft. Trains rolling through at the crack of dawn, not so good. Front desk were very nice in making us cocktails. All in all ratio price:quality it was very good.

Trains and station loud speaker. You could tell the hotel was spectacular back in the day. Sad that it looks run down. A little TLC to bring it to 2023 would make a big difference.

A traditional hotel with beautiful old style furniture. We were slightly worried by some opinions from previous travellers, especially about bathroom size, but were pleasantly surprised by the a nice comfy room for three as we were travelling as a family with dog. the staff was so friendly and we enjoyed relaxing with a drink in the cosy bar downstairs.

just a slightly wobbly toilet seat, but it didn't really bother us.

Location, close to all amenities. Close to the train station and the bus for the P&O Ferry was right there. The most amazing thing was the staff. Our host at reception (never got her name) was so helpful. When we asked about something she went out of her way to take the time to help. We asked about finding a laundromat, she quickly phoned around and called the proprietor and got us all the info we needed. The morning we left she had printed off all the Ferry and bus info we had inquired the day before. Can't ask for anything better!

The toilet area and bathroom was not big enought. The toilet area was so small your knees were jammed against the wall. It might have only been our room as we noticed other rooms had a walk in shower and larger bathroom.

Second time we stay at Metropol Hotel, on our way back to the UK. We love the quiet and comfy room, and the quiet little bar downstairs, after a long road trip. Good buffet breakfast and easy to reach the Eurotunnel in the morning. Also walking distance to the Family Pub, where we had excellent beer and pizzas in a cheerful atmosphere.

Nothing, all good (apart from the weather, but not the hotel's fault!)

Location was top notch - few minutes from the ferry terminal and drove to the hotel without any hassle. Parking right in front. Nice quiet neighbourhood. 5 mins from the City centre. 15-20 mins walk to one of the most beautiful beaches i've been to. Nice restaurants and cafe's. Monsieur Philippe is the best! Took care of everything. All the staff are amazing. Breakfast was pretty good. Nice and quiet and was able to comfortable sleep. My 10 year old daughter enjoyed it as well. All her dietary requirements were also taken care of. Room was spacious for the 3 of us. Nice shower and bath. Very good location I believe.

Wish we could stay longer in Calaise. We enjoyed it very much. Will have to go again soon. Nothing negative to say at all. Big thank you to all.

The location of this hotel, minutes from the station - which could take you anywhere in France - was perfect. Restaurants, cafes, shops, tourist attractions, the beautiful Calais beach - were also within walking distance. The staff at reception were welcoming and knowledgeable. I worried about my poor grasp of French, but they kindly spoke to me in English. I couldn't fault this hotel and would love to return.

Nothing. I loved it.
