Hotel Mercure Granville Le Grand Large

I arrived by motorcycle on an extremely wet day, leaving puddles of water in the main reception area. The young lady on Reception was excellent! Smiley, helpful and with a mixture of my poor French and her English directed me to a parking spot in the underground garage for the bike after booking me in. I can't rate her highly enough. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Would definitely stay here again.

It was a shame the restaurant wasn't open in the evening as I really didn't want to leave the room, due to the weather. However, excellent meal at The Tender Bar, close by.

Loved the breakfast at this hotel! One of the best we had on our trip. The views were amazing! Everything about the hotel was great!

Nothing about the hotel, but the surrounding area didn't have much open and was very hard to find a place to get food. Dinner places were shut down, gas station closed early and a lot of places that said they were open on google were actually closed. We got in at 6pm so it wasn't super late either.

The location is outstanding with a sea view from the front and a view of the bay and town at the back - we loved sitting on our balcony admiring it. The hotel has an underground car park, lovely terraces and a bar with sea views. Our room was clean, well equiped, quiet and comfortable - what more does one need?

I wish they had drawn our attention to their restaurant - we had a good meal in town - and returned to find people enjoying Fruits de Mer with the sea view.... we did not realise the restaurant was open!

Nice sea view room

snack bar food ridiculously high priced with mean quantities. parking is a nightmare if you drive a Jeep do not attempt to park on your own seek assistance as ramps are curved and slope at a 45 degree angle. Reception staff appear to be in training and had to seek manager on both occasions of contact with then.

Good breakfast, the coffee machines were not user friendly.

On leaving the under ground car park in the morning, five vehicles were trying to get in, as two cars were trying to leave. This created tension for all concerned. It needed an attendant to monitor cars entering and leaving at a busy time of the day.

The staff were excellent and some were fluent English speakers, although that was irrelevant to us. The hotel is convenient for the town centre and beach. The room was comfortable and well-supplied with electric sockets. Evening meals available from the bar, including shell-fish, at a reasonable price.

This is not intended as a criticism because the hotel cannot change its parking arrangements or road access. Road access is much easier from the north, avoiding the town centre. It's worth looking at a map before arriving so as to avoid narrow roads and sharp bends. The underground garage fills quickly so try to arrive before 17:00. Parking spaces are limited in width and room to manoeuvre is very restricted inside the garage but is better on the second level down.

The room was two-floor (king-size bed upstairs), clean, with side seaview, even a Nespresso machine with capsules was available. There was a place to park the car in the garage. Nice sea view from the restaurant terrass.

Driving into the garage can be tricky for a long or a large SUV car.

staff the night we arrived were judgemental and too busy with their own dramas real or imagined to be helpful. staff next day were so pleasant professional welcoming and attentive it made us feel so much better

Friendly checkin staff. Room was fine and clean. Good size bathroom.

Struggled to find entrance to hotel! Asked a passer by, who very helpfully took us to the door!

Duplex rooms were nice and spacious, airco in both sections of the room and a balcony, which we always like. Location of the hotel is perfect, with a hotelprivate door to the beach, very nice.

If you take reservations for payed breakfast on the outside terras, we expect the same treatment as in the inside terras. Instead we were handed our tray at reception and were basically told: "figure it out" as in no tables set, no reserved spot and way to little food for all the quests. Staff did everything they could, so managers step up and fix this. A speck on a futher fine stay.
