The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Gave us all necessary info for facilities and breakfast time etc. The restaurant was great with a lovely selection at breakfast. The waffle makers were a favourite. The bar staff were very accomodating when I asked for glasses and ice to take to the room. In the room the bath tub was so deep, the water was sulphur geothermal water and sooooooo hot! It was like having a hot tub in the bathroom :)

The plug didn't fit the bath plug hole so I repurposed a silicon drinking cup I had into the plughole and it was all good!

You must stay here!!! Wonderful viking theme hotel , better then I expected! The interior is amazing, the outside around the hotel as well, so different. Lovely breakfast, very friendly staff, maps, information all around available to take. The restaurant is just across and its unreal, so many details, viking features everywhere, it's beautiful. Small shopping centre on your right when you come out, lovely promenade along the harbour when you can watch the vales doing circles! 30min drive from KEF Airport, 30min drive to Blue Lagoon and 10min to Rejkjavik. Highly recomend this hotel and we defo be back. Thank you all.

Rooms very small but cosy , especially the bathroom, you can hardly wash your hands in that tiny sink. We booked superior room so we thought bathroom would be bigger. But everything else is fab.

The Viking Hotel is one of the best places to stay near Reykjavik if you want a decent price and an amazing hotel stay. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is made in the style of the Viking era, very original and wonderful, felt like being back in time! The check-in was effortless and the staff at the reception were just amazing, super helpful, and always ready to answer any questions we would have. We enjoyed our breakfast, which was super tasty and with a great deal of variety of foods, both international and local. The hotel also had a hot tub and sauna, which I had the chance to use once during our weekend there. Also, there is free parking next door, super practical and needed when traveling with a car! The town was amazing too, and the proximity to Reykjavik was equally amazing! All in all, it was a great stay and we recommend this hotel to anyone exploring the area around Reykjavik and the Golden Circle!

Everything was great, nothing to complain about! One thing that we are sorry we could not manage was having dinner at the restaurant since they would close at 22h (at least during our stay in the middle of March), and we were arriving around 21:30/22 from our day trips - so keep that in mind!

This was a fun place to stay - I'd especially recommend it for families since it would be a fun experience for kids. It's a good location outside of the main city area, so it's a convenient location with quick access to other spots if you have rented a car. Parking was a little confusing at first - they don't have much parking directly at the hotel, but there is a large lot around the gray building on the left side of the hotel that you can park at. There is a restaurant on site which was nice and convenient as well. The breakfast in the mornings was good as well - simple, but good!

The restaurant seemed a bit understaffed but this may have been because they were hosting large groups while we were there.

We loved the theme aspect of Hotel Viking. We (2 senior women) stayed in one of the cottages and found the beds surprisingly comfortable, the cottage itself very clean, quiet and cozy with just the right amount of amenities. We enjoyed the breakfast, which had lots of choices, and the breakfast room was spacious and comfortable. The night staff was very helpful and kind in resolving a small issue we encountered (leaking coffee pot). We enjoyed an early morning walk along the waterfront. We would definitely recommend and would stay again when in the area.

Breakfast was basic but ample, staff friendly and helpful - no gluten free options immediately, however this was rectified on our last day (I took my own loaf just in case). Room was clean and functional, we were in a cottage so it was quirky, very warm! Restaurant was a let down due to the time of the year I believe (new years) shut at 8pm on New Year’s Eve and shut on New Year’s Day, not overly accommodating, food was nice but sadly there was no where to go in the evening local to the hotel on nights when we were snowed in - had to rely on going to the supermarket for food (check opening times as well). The one night that I did go I was sat in a very cold draft, I asked to move but it seemed too much hassle and they forgot about my husbands dessert.

The relationship between the restaurant and the hotel - the restaurant let the stay down.

I loved all the work they put into this to make it so cool inside and out. Loved their breakfast as well. The cottages themselves were great (minus the doors slamming).

The hot tub was full of bugs (we traveled Iceland for over two weeks and this was the only hot tub that was dirty), also the shower going into sauna needs a lot of cleaning and upkeep and somehow all the cottages need to be fixed so they don’t SLAM all night every time someone goes in and out or checks in late. We didn’t sleep. It was bad. Staff weren’t friendly either.

We love the quirkiness of the place that made our stay more special. We liked the fact that this place has sauna and hot tub, nice breakfast, and is close to the bus stop , if you want to go to capital, only 30min drive. We had room nr 30 with a sea view. We do recommend to upgrade because this room is bigger then the others and has amazing views and you can see Northern Lights.

You need to pay 1000isk for bath robe (wasn't included). Room doesn't supply shampoo so you need to take yours with you.

We love the the hotel. It’s a neat looking hotel. I think we had the best room on the third floor overlooking the water and their downtown. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I love it that it came with delicious breakfast in their neatlooking restaurant downstairs. They served a small buffet of eggs, veggies, fresh fruits, ham slices, cheese slices, cereals, toasts and self-service waffles. They served juices that they called orange juice and apple juice but they tasted different than what we’re used to. Overall, the breakfast was yummy. We ate at the restaurant next door one night and the food was good but very expensive. That is one gorgeous restaurant with very interesting deco and worth checking out for sure. They have a good-size bar in there too. The hotel’s location is very strategic…within walking distance from restaurants, a small mall that has groceries and a great cafe that serves delicious pastries, cakes etc. You could also walk to the small museums nearby (they were closed when we were there). Make sure to visit that cute little cafe down the street owned by David and his partner. As you come out of Hotel Viking take a left and it’s in that little strip mall by that pizza place. I think it’s called Pallet (so)cafe. We took the bus to downtown Reykjavik (the bus stops right in front of the hotel) but next time I’ll definitely rent a car. Make sure you have a current international driver’s license. Will I stay at Hotel Viking again? Definitely!

The staff there were nice but not as knowledgeable and friendly as I’d like. They were not very knowledgeable about buses, pickups etc. The attitude, I felt was “fend for yourself”…which wasn’t very welcoming for a first-timer to their country. I wish that they were more approachable and helpful in answering questions and volunteering information etc. Maybe it’s the language barrier so I’m not blaming the staff. Suggestions: maybe ask your guests if it’s their first time to Iceland and if it is introduce them to the so many attractions that you have there. They can read the brochures but people will have questions about the brochures etc.
