Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa Coorg

The essence of the TAJ experience is always the staff. The properties are great, sure, but the real value comes from each one of the staff who usually go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. We visited Taj Madikeri for our wedding anniversary with our 5 year old twins, and all of us had a very relaxing and fun vacation. Wumui, Rounak, Ashray, Praveen, Charan & Atharv(chef) were amazing at the ferntree, nellaki and grill restaurants. There were others too, but we specifically had wonderful service when they were around. Sonu & his team were exceptional for our room service. Anant & team made the day of our anniversary special with cakes, pastries and small gestures here n there. The staff at the activity center were enthusiastic. Special call out to Nitin who had a wealth of information to share during our rainforest hike.

Though Ayam was a good masseuse, the overall experience at the spa was not the best. We didnt get a typical welcome drink or post massage beverage. Ours was the final appointment of the day (630 to 8pm). But since it went on until ~830, the staff were in a rush to shoo us away. The lights were bright and the ambient music was a bit loud, all of this could have been corrected if the team could've taken some feedback but they didn't seem open to it.

Fantastic location, beautiful views.

We loved everything right from the food, activities, stay, hospitality and the views. We stayed for 5 nights. It's the best property in Kodagu (Coorg). Everyone should experience it atleast once! 0.Check in: The check-in was really smooth, the staff was so courteous and smiling all the time. Vinay gave us a short orientation of the property, the check in was done in the quickest time possible. The property itself is amazing. 180 acres and only 30 acres is built up, rest all nature : )The view from the lobby is amazing! 1.Room decoration: We had requested them to decorate the room for our honeymoon, & they obliged. It was really good! 2.Food: They have plenty of options. Food was amazing. We personally loved the jeera rice, dal tadka, Verdure Pizza among the various options at the Ferntree (Had our most of the meals there) Also, loved grills restaurant (With the candle light dinner- they will arrange it for you) Breakfast: It's at Ferntree and had standard amazing options for all. I personally loved the pancakes, juices and the samosas! Service: The staff was amazing! Laxita, Bhawna, Janaki & Rajat were amazing in their services. Also, shout out to Nadeem, Akshay and Nikhil! 3.Activities: For us the activities at the property were the highlight. Managed by Muddy Boots, we tried the following: Zipline,Kayaking,paintball & Mountain biking - This activity takes you out of the property (Off road as well) My wife absolutely loved it. Ranjit & Amal were superb in guiding us throughout the activities. We did the Rainforest walk & Nishani trek. Pradhan and Nitin were our guides respectively and both were amazing! Indoor activities were also great (They have an Xbox). Spa: Jiva spa was also amazing (We did a couples spa). Buggy Services: Special shout-out to Yakshit, he was very sweet whenever we met him! Tribal dance (Saturdays), Museum all very good! Checkout very smooth In a nutshell, amazing would be an understatement of the time we spent...

Property, food, service.

Our pick up from Bengaluru airport to the hotel. Driver was unprofessional, car was untidy. The hotel was careful on our way back to airport and Vinod was fabulous.

Couldn't connect with WiFi despite entering proper details . Please check out shelf in the storage cupboard of the cottage(205) just behind the cot . It's too low.. when we bend to pick up things our heads get hit to the shelf . Each of us got hit .it's impractical

+ Beautiful property with lots to explore like Buddha garden, lake with ducks, etc. + Aesthetically pleasing rooms in Coorg style architecture with excellent view (in Dec) + Excellent spread of breakfast + Beautiful view from temperature controlled Infinity Pool + Engaging Activity room with fusball, Xbox, pool table, table tennis

- Dimly lit hallway to bathrooms - Lack of serviettes / napkins in restaurants most of the time - Largely new staff who are friendly but still learning - Telephone set in room was hardly functioning where voice of caller was inaudible even after allegedly fixed twice. - Would be good to have a clothes line in bathroom e.g. over bath tub - Billing software could be improved as some items were incorrectly listed in receipt although pricing was same - Noisy & slow dot matrix printers at Ferntree added vintage feeling but the printouts were part illegible - Pricing for taxi booking was very inconsistent

Panoramic view from the lobby is certainly worth an Olympic Gold enough to make any one dumbfounded .

Rooms views from level 3 ( like 307 & 308 ) are disappointing . Rooms interiors could have been a bit plush which certainly not were to the price of Rs.21000 per room with our breakfast . Room size more than enough with little feel of ambience & comfort At this price offering room without breakfast seems a bit ridiculous . It should be inclusive at-least at this tariff level .

Everything was perfect except buggy service it always took longer than 10mins. We missed rainforest walk because we couldn't get buggy in time. Wait time to get buggy can be more consistent so guests can plan better. Same day in morning I was 15mins early for morning trek and other people showed up 15mins late and that afternoon we missed the rainforest walk because we were late by 10mins. Wish activities were better planned so everyone gets a buggy ride on time.

The amenities provided were excellent from the quaint Coorg museum onsite to the oganised Rainforest walk and Nishani Betta walk. These are the ones i enjoyed most and made the entire stay wortwhile. The views from the lobby and rooms are stunning.

I wasnt aware about the charges for certain things only when asked you were told. Buggy service request could have been better timed. The first moring it took more than 10 mins for the buggy to arrive to the room to take us to the restaurant. just making it in time for breakfast!

Billing - you have to be careful on the billing - They charged very high - don’t know how they arrived at the number I think they need to look at there accounting- being manipulated on the drinks - Surprised such a property showed no much of regret by the staff Ricky Ashish and Pandey are good guys / Manas - who escorted us to the room was enthusiastic on explaining about the property
