Palazzo del Verga0

Large spacious room with a king bed and pullout futon. Several small balconies. Large washroom. Bath robes and slippers and many toiletries provided. The location is close to tourist attractions. We parked most often on the close street although it was advised not to because of damage that’s often done to cars that are left out. We got lucky! Our host was very helpful with everything we asked/needed. Really appreciated!

The only thing we didn’t like about the property was that the entrance and hallway to the suites smelled very bad. Luckily the smell did not enter our room.

The accommodation is located in the city center, in the historical building where famous writer Giovanni Verga ("Cavalleria rusticana") used to stay. At 3-min.walking distance from the main square/dome and all main attractions. Easy access to all restaurants. The room is spacious and clean. The bed is very comfortable. Very good Wi-fi connection. Complimentary toiletries, slippers, snacks (sweet and salted), water, non-alcoholic sweet drinks, coffee, tea. Easy self check-in and check-out. Even if the streets of Catania are hectic and loud, the accommodation is extremely quiet. Giuseppe is the greatest host, he offered precious advice and kindly explained us everything we needed to know.

The location is very convenient at the centre of the historic district. 350m to the east - the Cathedral. 71m to the north - the Teatro Greco. 350m to the south - Castello Ursino. For connections to / from the airport, Piazza Borsellino is 600m away, 350m of which is the walk to the Cathedral. The room has a very comfortable, extra-large king-size bed (at least 180 x 210 cms). There is also a very convenient small adjoining room with sofa, fridge, tea / coffee making facilities and a small balcony over looking the inner court. The bathroom is excellent with an Italian walk-in shower and a very large, stylish wash basin. Toiletries, dressing gowns and slippers are provided as you would expect in upmarket hotels. The host could not have been more friendly, polite and helpful. The Palazzo del Verga is in a small street off the Via Giuseppe Garibaldi. The small street is alive in the evening with a few restaurants. However there is no street noise in the apartment which is on the far side of the inner courtyard. The area and the apartment seem to be very safe and secure. Would we stay here again? Definitely. The room exceeded our high expectations.

The air-conditioning was very effective but was somewhat noisy with the airflow continually gusting. Conditioning units like this are usually very good - we have two at home. Perhaps it just needs some maintenance?

The property is a former Palazzo located downtown, close to historical center. Room is big, clean, with all toiletries included. Also coffee and tea, kettle and coffee maker, complementary water, juice, some snacks and muffins. A specif of the room (like any other palazzo) is the ceiling beautifully painted (making you imagine of old times). The palazzo has a quiet interior garden and the room we stayed in had a small balcony toward the courtyard. We arrived late and had self check in, easy and very convenient. The host is very friendly and eager to help with whatever you need.

Nice B&B in a prime location, steps away from the Duomo, some of the best restaurants in town, and the historic market of fish and vegetables. Room 1 is beautiful and nicely furnished. It features a small balcony over the main street, a comfortable king-size bed, AC, fridge, a nespresso machine, and a new en-suite bathroom with a full range of toiletries. Everything was extremely clean and in mint conditions. We really appreciated the great suggestions the owner gave us for our visit to Catania and surroundings. He also made the best soy cappuccino ever.

The room is not perfectly insulated from external sounds and lights, but we slept very well nevertheless. We would happily come back to Palazzo del Verga.

This is a great location just minutes from the town square. There are even great restaurants right outside the front door. The unit was stocked with plenty of little goodies to snack on. We particularly like the little balcony where we could sit and relax and watch the night life and enjoy a glass of wine

Didn't particularly like the feral cats wandering around the courtyard. My wife hates cats

Beautifully restored apartment with some lovely original features. Situated on a quiet street with some local bars and a restaurant Large comfy bed. Brilliant waterfall 🚿 shower Small balcony nice to sit and enjoy a coffee. Contactless check in good communication from Host via whats app Breakfast not included in our stay but some snacks and drinks in room😊

Would prefer option of 2 pillows but seems 1 is the norm in sicily .

Great location less than a block from the ruins and less that 3 blocks from the downtown shopping plazas. The bathrooms were great and the hosts had everything in the room we could need, much more than at other places we stayed. It was nice and quiet, even though we were there during a holiday.

Our family in the larger room told us the beds were not as comfortable for them, although we found the one in the smaller room to be just fine.

Great location in a historical building for walking to all the important sites, the fish market, and for shopping. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable with a lovely bed, gorgeous sheets and big soft towels. The in- room refrigerator was fully stocked with drinks and snacks on our arrival. Our host, Giuseppe, was extremely helpful both before and during our stay with directions and recommendations.

Perfect and luxurious charming location in the heart of the city! Silent and comfortable cause it is settled in the beautiful courtyard of an ancient building also hosting the same Verga museum. Close to everything, bars, restaurants, the fabulous fish market and many of the must visit monuments in town. Among the others, we were surprised by the outstanding late baroque Monastero dei Benedettini San Nicolo' l'Arena, one of the biggest in Europe, today hosting the Department of Humanities of the University of Catania. Thanks Giuseppe, we left so happy about our longed for Catania week end!!
