Palazzo Catalani Resort

We had an excellent view of the town and castle. The rooms were big and had a kitchenette. We could have easily stay for a week there. The bed was very comfortable for a European hotel.

It is 10 euros per person for an hour at the spa and you have to schedule it. We couldn't get on the schedule so didn't go. It is up hill and could be a hike for some people. You have to park your vehicle down in a parking garage so kinda of a hassle to get to your bags to your room. There is man with a little truck that can help but you might have to wight for him.

Rooms are spacious and nice. We stayed in the «new» building , with elevator and air condition. The Pergola area behind and above it is the best thing about this place. We sat there at night to enjoy the best pizza and wine while watching the lightning and magnificent view over the town and its castle.

Should have a small outdoor pool for warm days

The room was really nice but small. There is no space, the table and the chairs are attached to the bed and there is no space between them and the kitchen, so it gets difficut to move inside the room to go to the bathroom or to leave the room. I asked them because the photos of the room I booked were not similar but they told me that it was because the bathroom was bigger.... On the other hand they told me a price (written by email) to use the spa and then they told me it was not correct. I showed them and in the end they corrected it.

we rented two nights here in February to see whether we would like to come back at a later date as a timeshare week. Our conclusion was yes, we would love to. The town is in an interesting region with many places to visit within a short drive (Viterbo, Villa Lante, Bomarzo, Citta di bagnoregio, Montefiascone, Sutri and many others). The town itself was worth a day. In late February it was difficult to find open restaurants, but this is common in this area. We had an apartment in the back building on the 3rd floor with easy access to the garden that gave beautiful views of the castle. The breakfast area was lovely as was the first floor lounge in the main reception building. They also had laundry facilities.

At this time of year one could get free parking in a public space next to the archaeologic museum (or in covered lot below for 1 euro). While the hotel will send a driver to help with bags, the only problem is that there is a short, steep walk up to the hotel for all other times (or in our case where the mini-truck could only hold one passenger). I guess since this is a hill town one has to expect these types of walks, but if you are injured, disabled or elderly you may want to consider that there could be significant exertion walking up to the hotel.

The views are incredible from here. We booked a superior 1 bedroom apartment (self-catering) and even cooked for us on the first night. Took a walk down to a small supermarket on the square and fresh fruit and veg etc available. Comfortable bed, aircon works, heated towel rails in bathroom that heated up the bathroom which was great. If you want to use the spa - book in advance as soon as you check in or even before as it gets fully booked quickly. I read the previous comments about the breakfast that is only a croissant and coffee/juice, so we didn’t expect too much, however I would suggest the hotel add a little more to the breakfast table. Remember to ask the hotel when you book to collect your luggage at the bus station if you don’t have a car or taxi, as the uphill is quite steep with suitcases!!

PROS: -Location: Literally 100 metres from Soriano's main plaza -Infrastructure: Its a stunning palazzo turned to hotel. Our 1 bedroom apartment was super cozy and fully equipped. -Relaxation: Perfect place to relax, we read a lot on the upper gardens with the stunning views

CONS: -Extra cost to use their spa, which is basically a hot tub and sauna. -The breakfast is included but its quite simple: Fruit and pastries and coffee -Not really a con, but there was no pool, that is the only thing missing

Palazzo Catalani is a beautiful hotel with views of the Orsini Castle and frescoed common rooms. My apartment's kitchenette was well equipped and I was able to cook fantastic meals. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Keep in mind that the hotel is inaccessible by car so make sure you park in the FREE car park on Via Roma. On Fridays, you will have to move the car downstairs (PAID PARKING) to make room for market day. Don't do what I did and lug your suitcase to the front door of the hotel up Via Monte Cavallo. Leave your suitcase in the car so the hotel porter can retrieve it. Soriano Nel Cimino is a vibrant town with lots of great places to dine. Flawless stay from start to finish. Would come back again.

Some of the toiletries provided like soap and shampoo aren't plentiful. Bring your own.

The hotel is really comfortable, and has a beautiful view. I had though a problem with Booking, as I was traveling with my husband and son, and when reserved, I booked a room with 3 beds, and arriving there there was only a double-bed. Other than that, the accommodation was great! having a small kitchen in the room helps a lot when traveling with a child.

we cannot reach the hotel reception with the car, so this was the only downside. The hotel offered though to help with the bags, but climbing with a kid was not easy. However, the view compensated!

Hotel is located in the center of a historical village. Entire hotel, incl. room, is very well maintained and clean. Room was of perfect size, beautifuly decorated, and warm during early spring months. Kitchen contains all needed. We were impressed how clean everything was. Spa is also super clean and booked for personal use- a big plus.

I just returned 4 days ago and I am still on Cloud 9 from my stay at Palazzo Catalani and the town of Soriano nel Cimino. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were all very gracious hosts and accommodating. The location is so close to the town center and the restaurants, shops, grocery. The view of the castle from the garden is spectacular. I would go with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. The property sits on a hill and actually all of this town is on a hill with inclines and many steps. Thankfully I am able to navigate this but if anyone was not in decent shape you might have trouble. I spent hours each day exploring and walking the city. It will blow your mind! It was great to spend 9 days in an off the beaten path Italian town. I went to Rome for 2 days when I left Soriano and it was a bit overwhelming to go from the quiet of Soriano to Rome! I will for sure be back and looking forward to it!
