Natural Hot Spring Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae

The hotel is located conveniently around 2 streets away from central Kyoto. My room was located on the 9th floor which was the highest floor and the same floor as the onsen, laundry and vending machines - very convenient. There was free bottled water and a nice surprise of a free pudding in the fridge . The washing machines in the laundry was free to use and free laundry liquid is provided. Dryers were paid and were a few 100Y. Highlight was the night ramen and the DIY chirashi rice bowl at breakfast. Please note that a spa tax and accommodation was payable on check in.

Location, cleanliness, the onsen, the room size was reasonable. Ice cream was available after an evening onsen visit ; late night noodles were free! Breakfast was included for us and was pretty good with some European dishes but mostly Asian foods. We must make a special mention of Mr Wong, who seemed to be a manager of some sort. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He helped us set up our roaming wi-fi device and was even more accommodating when we had to call London to sort out our Travelex card. Many thanks Mr Wong!

We have stayed at this hotel on several past trips. We usually have lots of questions and the staff at this hotel has always been very kind and patient with us. Our visit to Kyoto is always made better by the kindness and understanding of the staff. Our room, as usual, was nice and clean. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the onsen, the breakfast buffet and yonaki soba as well as the ice cream in the evening and complimentary drinks in the morning after relaxing in the onsen. This hotel is in a great location for all types of transportation needs.

The location is 5-10 minutes away from Kyoto Station and the neighborhood was fairly quiet. The hotel was also on top of a Lawson, which is convenient to pick up some snacks before starting the data. The hotel has a washer and a dryer in the same floor as where the onsen is. It helps that the washer and dryer was 100-200 yen. The hotel also provided popsicles and ramen in the evening. The room itself was fairly large. I could easily spread my items around the room.

The labels on the light switches was in Japanese. Would be nice to see these labels in other languages so other foreign guest can easily decipher what each light switch was for. I had to use Google Translate to figure this out. This is only a minor inconvenience.

We stayed for 5 nights as a base to see Kyoto and for day trips to Nara and Himeji. Great location with just a very short walk (almost across the road ) to station. So going to Nara and Himeji easy. Getting to subway and trains easy. But you mainly use buses in Kyoto. So if not going on day trips out not so important (But handy for arriving and departing on Shinkansen). Also a short walk to many other sights. The station itself is great for rooftop terrace and views and light show in evening and basement has huge amount of eateries. Small room but got a twin configuration (we are a couple) as tis gives you better use of space in small rooms. Sometimes in doubles the bed is pushed into a corner meaning one person does not have a side to get in and out, or a table/lamp etc. The twin room you get the space down middle of room. You get own bed heads with storage and lamp. For extended stay it was great. Plus as the bathroom had no bath but just a shower it frees up space in living area. Shower was very good. The beds super comfortable. We utilised the free laundry to do our mid travels wash. The buffet breakfast was really good. Lots of western options and heaps of good se Asian options to try. Desk staff excellent. a very good onsen.

Can’t think of any downsides. Stayed in another Dormy in Matsumoto. Also great.

Very conveniently located hotel: close to the railway station and to many tourist attractions. The hotel was quiet, with a very good sound insulation. The onsen was excellent! Very relaxing, with a good sauna as well. Small treats, such as ice cream, after using the onsen was very pleasant and very much appreciated.

When I phoned the massage service, I was surprised to hear that the person who answered the phone did not speak English and could not help. I am sure the staff at the reception would help me in this situation, but at the end it was not so important to have a massage, I used the onsen and the sauna instead. Still, would be great that it would be easy to book such service in English as well.

This is the perfect place to stay when in Kyoto. Kyoto Station is just a few minutes away with access to buses and taxis as well as the train. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, answering many questions. On this trip, we initially stayed one night before heading to our next destination. On our return we had planned to stay at another hotel because we couldn't get a room at Dormy Inn when we first planned our trip. We took a chance and asked for help at the front desk, and found there was availability for the three nights we wanted. The breakfast is awesome, as is the yonaki soba (just the right size for a late night snack). The onsen area is clean and relaxling. We always enjoy Dormy Inn.

Close to transportation. Bus arrangements to airport. Impressed with bus management at hotel.

It was difficult to make change to be arriving 1 day later, booking was supposed to be for 3 people and it was booked for 4. Supposed to be 1 single room and 1 double, but booking was for 2 double rooms. I had to contact Booking.com 3 times to confirm these changes and refund because nobody at hotel spoke English at the time of calls and it took several days for a response.

I really like how spacious the room was and how it had a nice entrance area. The staff were also super helpful and being right outside Kyoto station made travel so, so easy. I can't stress the location and price enough!

The onsen was great, but it would have been nice if the rules were posted outside or viewable from your room so anyone who isn't used to Japanese onsen culture knows what to do/expect.

Early checkin was smoothly handled by helpful staff, room small but adequate with decent light, the outdoor onsen was fantastic, really the big plus that separates this property from other functional business hotels..nice touch with free yoghurt drinks and ice cream bars...and of course there is the evening free ramen...the convience store right adjacent to entrance is super convenient..and go left 20 mtrs and there is a good cafe with excellent breakfast sets

beds were smallish in my room...should have gone for larger room
