Hotel Route-Inn Sakata

The hotel itself was good and the room comfortable. We only stopped over here on our drive north. It was one of the more expensive places we stayed but didn't have a lot of choice. Nice breakfast included. Ladies onsen had washer and dryer which was a great idea as you could do your washing and wait in the onsen. Room was a good size. Convenience store about 5 mins walk away.

The location was pretty drab. As mentioned, only stayed here as we were driving north and needed to break our trip.

The hotel was simple but had a great breakfast and the staff were very kind and friendly. The beds were very comfortable and there was a nice ramen restaurant right across from the hotel.

There was not quite enough parking for the guests, so even after the overflow parking was full we had to park across the road, but it was not paid parking, so it was fine.

Loved the use of the Japanese onsen and massage chair, great facilities and washing machine if you needed. Loved the breakfasts and you can book to eat dinner at the restaurant which is handy.

Quite difficult to get to walking and a solid 1/2 hour walk to the station. To get anywhere without a car is difficult. We got around by borrowing bikes from the library near the station! Loved that experience.

Very Warm and Helpful Staff. You feel really welcomed. Useful facilities and Features (Public Bath, Coin Laundry, Vending machines) Small but Comfy Clean and quiet

Always enjoy the service at Route in and it is a very family friendly hotel.

Not Much to like here, The breakfast was good overall it was the worst hotel we stayed in and avoided Route Inn hotels for the rest of the trip due to our bad experience at the reception desk and the facility ....still waiting for refund from Booking .com

When we arrived we were told that they had cancelled the booking.com booking and we would have to pay more to stay. Argued the point, took it up with Booking.com who agreed with the hotel stance on the matter due to local tax issues. Booking .com said they would refund the $$ in next 1-2 week. now its 6 weeks and still waiting for Booking .com

ac faulty , they fiddled got it working but when I fiddled it switched off! no working light in the toilet, manager was a hard woman not interested in clients just doing a job!
