Promenade Hotel Liepaja

Nice interior and a fantastic restaurant that provided very delicious meals. My room was located in the west side of the hotel meaning I could see the seaside, ships and a beautiful sunset.

If not for the fantastic restaurant, I would have rated this hotel room lower for: - unstable Internet connection that affected the provided Internet TV as well; - technical issues with one of the bath tubs; - overheating, because curtains blocked only part of the late afternoon/evening sun and AC wasn't very effective.

The hotel is very nice, clean and tidy, built in an old vintage style. The people at the hotel are helpful and polite. We had a room on the fourth floor with a lower ceiling on one side and very small skylights, and we were a little afraid that the room with a low ceiling and little light would be too small. At least that's the impression we got from the photos, but in real life it wasn't a problem at all and the room was super nice with comfortable beds and a big bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful with many tasty options. Parking in front of the hotel was free. And the hotel is right on the river bank, so it was good to go jogging to the beach and back in the morning.

Location of the hotel is excellent, right in the heart of Liepaja. Easy to walk to the center of the city, the beaches around or even do a little sightseeing of the town. The room was super quiet and we loved the AC since the room kept nice and cold despite it being very warm outside. The room itself was very comfortable with a nice layout, same can be said about the hotel. Loved the provided necessities. Breakfast was delicious, almost worth going there for just the breakfast alone. Front desk staff were very helpful and fast when we extended our booking and needed to re-encode the door cards. The hotel even offers parking at the back of the hotel, nice to know that there is a space to leave your car at.

We had a lovely 2 day stay at the Promenade hotel. It’s in a unique location on the canal and opposite the ‘Great Amber’ concert hall. It’s a handsome building with plenty of charm and character, clearly converted from a canal warehouse with the lovely red brick in the rooms and original beams. We were very excited about our stay in Liepāja and our young teenager was looking forward to their own room in the hotel, luckily we didn’t bring our other teenager who’s older because there definitely wouldn’t have been room for both in the loft room. The room was nice with the wood and rustic fixtures and fittings, but it’s very dark with no real natural light because of the very small windows. I wouldn’t book it again. Our room had been upgraded to a junior suite and I’d asked for a sauna and canal view if possible and when we arrived everything about the room was just right, although it looks a lot bigger and grander from the photos. It was in fact really quite basic. We had a lovely view, but we were next to the brick wall, so it was obscured slightly and not a very big window, it makes me wonder if we’d been better without the sauna, maybe the room would’ve been bigger with a bigger window. We had a good shower with very good water pressure. The sauna was great. Our coffee machine wasn’t working and after a very long journey we needed a cup of tea, no kettle by the way just the coffee machine. The machine was replaced pretty quickly by the housekeeping staff who were very helpful. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the first night and had a lovely terrace table overlooking the concert hall. We decided to have all three courses with wine and pre drinks, as this was a special treat. One to note here, I ordered a small bottle of ‘Anna de codornìu’ sparkling wine which was 14€, the same bottle in the mini bar in the rooms was 7€, just saying… Our meal was fine, but it wasn’t really anything that special.

Breakfast was absolutely perfect. If you want to enjoy a luxurious breakfast, you should come to the promenade hotel in Liepāja, they even offer a glass of prosecco there. The staff was super friendly. Beautiful interior.

The walls and ceiling were super thin. I heard a person walking heavily and loudly in the room above me until 1 am. Even the bottles in the mini bar rattled, I also heard him coughing loudly. The bed creaked even with the slightest movement. Beautiful but really dark room.

We had several rooms booked as extended family, it seemed the rooms are designed and decorated differently but still each room had nice details and feel. If you can pay extra, get the room with a terrace. Amazing breakfast, free parking, perfect location.

We did not entirely like the the dinner at the hotel restaurant, between all of us we had several dishes and each of those had some fault. Compared to the amazing breakfast the next morning, I think there’s a room for improvement. Staff was great though. One more tiny thing, the bed linen had some smell, I believe from the laundry place, perhaps worth checking the vendor.

Overall atmosphere is excellent: greeting, fast check-in, relaxing dinner, background music, smell of floristic beauty, in-room amenities, bed comfort, variety at the breakfast. Waitress Kristīne in the restaurant Piano is definitely reason to book dinner there: her approach, voice, way how she care of every guest. She had conversation with guests at next table, who visited hotel 2 years ago, so they remembered event celebrated at that time. Their home made meringue cookies are fantastic!

The hotel is nice and located in a beautiful place. Everything can be easily reached on foot. The personnel is very kind and helpful.

The walls are very thin, we could hear the couple next door at 1-2 am. The positive thing was that upon calling them, the hotel personnel immediately took action. The negative side is that unfortunately, even an excellent hotel staff cannot change uncivilized guests.

Location of this hotel is phenomenal. It's within walking distance of the center, old town, and Juliana's Quarter. The beach and beach park are a bit farther away, but if you're up for it, you can still walk. Staff is very friendly and nice.

The floor in our room is slanted, which I suppose cannot be helped given how old the building is, but it did affect me physically - I felt a bit "off".
