Pool, cleanliness, historical building, horticulture, ambiance, location.

I have said it before, too many events and excessive noise. They use the lovely surrounding pool area for events and they are pretty much daily. I suspect this brings in so much income they will never bother to change anything. Just come with ear plugs and sleeping aids. The loud AC may drown out excessive noise.

Read my previous reviews. This is my FAVORITE Hotel in all of North America. This was like our 7th or 8th visit so I asked others, I met at the pool why they loved this hotel so much. Surprised to find out that most of them say its the service that stands out from other Hotels, then the beautiful "Oasis" on the grounds, pool, and forest that you feel that you're in. Oh, and this time especially heard the crickets at night, which gave you an even more feeling about being in the mountains or countryside.

We had a problem 2 times with the toilet, having to call maintenance in Rm 150. They really need to start replacing them with "low flow", very powerful flush toilets one by one. I know ALL hotels are just starting to recover from Covid shutdowns, and people shying away from traveling for two years. It's put many a hotel out of business, so I assume - poco a poco some project like this will take place - not immediately - and I understand fully.

When you think of staying in Durango, you have to stay at the Gobernador, it is tradition, the location is beautifull and the historic center is within walking distance, facilities are nice, not the best, but nice. Overall a good experience

Some some reason water on the shower tends to fail, the temperature either to cold or to hot. In one ocasion the a/C failde and the staff gave me another room

I loved the character of this hotel old world colonial style. Romantic, beautifully decorated, grounds and pool great for a photo op. When people asked where I was staying I would say Hotel Gobernador and they would respond “it’s the best Durango offers”

I read reviews that the shower head didn’t spray correctly. Looks like they fixed shower head issue, I didn’t see a issue. I did have to wait a little for water to warm up. AC I didn’t know how to work it but via remote but I eventually figured it out then realized other hotel use same remote but by then I was a pro.

The property is gorgeous. Definitely feels like an oasis in the middle of Durango. The on-site restaurants were also very good and I loved how they were decorated for Day of the Dead.

The hotel is relatively close to the historical center of Durango but it would have been nice to be even closer.

Very beautiful hotel and grounds. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Staff was very attentive to problems. Good location -- 10 minute walk to museums.

While the staff was attentive to problems, I was surprised they occurred at a 5-star hotel. No hot water the first night. Slider door to balcony hardly moved. Door to bathroom did not close completely. And Saturday late afternoon, a social event was scheduled for outdoors which created very loud music (a sudden rainstorm put an end to that after an hour). Some guests wanted calm and tranquility in our rooms. Lastly, the 100-peso "omelette" delivered by room service was a flat, cardboard-like, tasteless disappointment.

The location was great. We had breakfast at the restaurant everyday, and dinner at the restaurant. The food was delicious. Great customer service.

On 9/9/22. We did not have water for along period of time. It was horrible trying to use the restroom. I also did not like the fact that they closed the Starbucks at 5pm. That’s too early!!

The staff was great, very friendly. The restaurant and bar excellent (very good food and friendly people). Breakfast next day was also excellent.

I had to leave due of a medical reason and already had pay for 2 days. I'm not sure the hotel had reimbursed me for the day (I followed the front desk instructions to do so). Hope they will.

The staff was very friendly and accomadating. The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk to El Mercado & less than a few miles away from The Cathedral.

The only thing was I had to switch rooms twice because in the 1st 2 rooms the A/C stopped working due to the unit freezing up and making awful noises. They seemed to be older A/C units and when they switched me to the 3rd room you could see a newer looking model and then had no more problems after that. The dinner at the hotel was pricier than other nice places you could eat at around the city. Try La Fonda de La Tia Chona.

very good location to downtown, nice rooms

The pool was ice cold. I was disappointed that there wasn’t any history about the building ie: old pictures on the walls with descriptions. Complimentary breakfast was very limited. Could use a small refrigerator in the room.
