Ski Time

Been last year and the hotel is just the same. Basic room is more than adequate for a short stay, great bed and hot shower being priority. Restaurant is extremely good, lovely waiting staff and the food is exceptional and generous. Love the location, great for walking and getting into town. Inclusive breakfast is a big bonus AND providing gluten-free cereals and bread was so appreciated.

Restaurant could have had a bit of a buzz, but off-season so expected. Just 5 persons eating when we ate dinner there. Not really anything to complain about.

The staff were all very happy, helpful and friendly from check in right through to departure. We had the basic room that was perfect for us, large and warm with a huge and very comfortable bed. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the service especially from Ryan our waiter. By far the best service and staff we have encountered during our 2 weeks on the South Island. The continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful with a very good variety. I noticed that there was also gluten free options available if required.

It was beautiful. So cosy and warm. The reception was terrific and very easy to be checked in, being shown around was a lovely touch. The girls at the bar were gorgeous, friendly and attentive. The waiter had an aurora about him as if he was selected from a top notch restaurant and was very impressed by his mannerisms and style. The dinner service was delicious and was so full that I almost had to roll myself out of there. The room was so comfortable, had everything I needed. The bed was great and with the pillows, my head melted into. The room view, on the second floor, was amazing with the magnificent mountains. No Wifi in the room, unfortunately, being the only downfall, however there is connection in the restaurant and lounge. Perfect for me and would highly recommend it.

Seamless check in & helpful staff. Parking at the back means easy access for the luggages through the rear entrance. They have both a drying room & storage for your ski equipments. We were there specific for Mt Hutt skiing, & this was an ideal all in one place for us because the restaurant itself was good, the breakfast was excellent & decent selection of craft beers. It’s also on a quiet street just off the main square.

Just maybe the thin pillows (personal preference) & sound proofing can be better.

Really nice staff, very clean and tasteful in a cool slightly retro, charming, understated lodge style. Great having a pool table and spot to make hot drinks. Breakfast was yum, nice muesli, loved all the nuts and seeds to add to the cereal, and great having dairy free milks available. Fabulous mountain views from the breakfast room and restaurant, and a short pleasant walk to town to the cafes and stores.

The only wee thing was that the shower wasn't great - couldn't get good pressure at hot. But otherwise everything was great.

Breakfast was a continental breakfast and had a great selection of cereals, bread and fruit. The room was extremely clean and tidy, HOWEVER no TV or fridge inroom. Also shower curtain not sufficient for its purpose, flooded the floor. Dinner was excellent quality and large servings, but the chairs were so uncomfortable to sit on.

Everything. The staff were wonderful, super friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. Delicious salmon dinner and the Continental breakfast was complimentary, an unexpected surprise that featured local preserves and produce with plenty of choice catering to gluten and dairy free diets. A tea and coffee lounge with spectacular mountain views with a light dusting of snow for the time of year from the dining room. Close to Opuke Pools and Spa. Would like to stay again one day when there's lots of snow.

Breakfast was set out well with many options for a continental breakfast and guests helped themselves. The selection was excellent... fresh and stewed fruit, Greek or sweetened yoghurt, muesli and other cereals and seeds, almonds etc to sprinkle over it. Range of breads and spreads for toast. Hygienic in providing little dishes to get jam and spoons to collect food. Delicious and nutritious breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Prices were on a par with a very good restaurant. Our mains of salmon at $35 and eye fillet steak at $40 were delicious.

We arrived quite late at night as we had a long trip from Dunedin. The lady that checked us in was super helpful and made sure we were able to get a meal in the restaurant which we really enjoyed. Although we were also leaving early, she very kindly arranged a breakfast tray of things we were able to take to our room in the evening and then eat before we left. Each room has a good size fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Really accommodating - we would come back again to go to the Hot pools

The staff were very friendly. We were in a 2 bedroom villa, it was spacious and well equipped. It really felt like a home, I was able to cook proper meals and there was plenty of space to store the groceries as well as a large fridge freezer.

A little bit far for us to walk into town in the evening (with kids) this wouldn't put us off staying though. We will definitely be back.
