Hotel Rural Monte da Provença

We had a lovely stay, spacious quiet room overlooking the beautiful gardens and in a peaceful rural location. The gardens and land wrap around the property offering delightful walks with lovely views. It was very convenient to the motorway (but some way off so no noise at all) and only a short drive from the fascinating sights of Elvas. Particularly delicious breakfast with homemade bread and cake! Our hosts were very welcoming.

Bath/shower and bidet needed repair. Would be good to highlight in advance that the restaurant is closed on a Wednesday.

A unique rural location in peaceful surroundings to relax and take time to enjoy the grounds. This is a traditional building and refurbished to a high standard with fascinating architectural features. A superb breakfast buffet style with cooked eggs & bacon available on request.

Be aware that to eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant requires 2 hour notice to the kitchen to prepare the food. The menu was gourmet in style and preparation so recommend you check in advance and book before you arrive if possible.

We love staying here as it is so tranquil. Breakfast is good. You can ask for all kind of eggs and bacon. Delicious bread. The rooms are luxurious and spotless. We had a small suite this time which was a special treat. Wander around the grounds. Go for a swim. The pool is shallow so ideal for nervous swimmers like me. The food is good and they will accommodate special requests. You can have lunch from 2 pm which suits us as we like to eat early in the day and not in the evening.

Rooms are very clean , nice and comfortable, bed is super , breakfast good . We do not use other facilities

The lady who met us and made the check in / check out was very efficient , but too much businesslike for such relaxing environment and not smiling at all. we felt like unwelcome and distracting guests Breakfast starts at 08:30 (too late for travelers ) and all guests were in small breakfast room at the same time at 08:30 . It will be nice for early birds to prepare some basic breakfast in the evening on the day before .

The place is gorgeous, masterfully renovated and decorated with great attention to detail. Each plant in the park and each piece of furniture is chosen with care and great taste. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant serves very good food prepared with care by the cook with local products. Swimming pool is beautiful and clean. All the owners and the staff were very nice and helpful. We had a brief relaxing stay and wished we had planned to stay longer.

The room was spacious, especially the bathroom, the bed was very comfortable and the details in the room were really special. The facility is very unique with many old items (some for sale) and you can see it's built with care and love. We really felt like we are at home. The outdoor area is huge, with olives, oranges, lemons, etc where you could just walk around, enjoy nature and peacefulness. The pool is also very nice, with a stunning view, surrounded by perfectly cut grass and lavenders that smell so nice. Maria and her husband own the place and were always there to make sure we are enjoying our stay. And yes - the food was very good, specific to the area, especially Fish in the coriander and "lizard" pork :)

The ambiance is great and it’s cheap for what you get. The suites are private, very comfortable and spacious! It ‘s nice to have your own terrace, but it ‘s also nice to walk in the beautiful shared garden. I loved the swimming pool too. The breakfast is always included! It’ s not an extended breakfast buffet, but it’s enough and they make you your eggs with a friendly smile. It’ s rural and quiet but still close to Elvas.

A place like Hotel Rural Monte da Provenca exists because two smart people with great taste invested in creating a little piece of paradise in the rolling hills outside of Elvas. The Booking photos are older and do not show the lusciousness of the garden that has been growing around the pool area. The hotel has been renovated to modern standards while keeping true to its history and Portuguese land house style. This is a place to enjoy peace and quiet while feeling very welcomed by an attentive staff.

A delightful small hotel in its own corner of Paradise. The property is set in beautiful countryside yet is also conveniently close to the A6 motorway and to Merida with its Roman ruins. Friendly and polite staff and an impeccable interior decor which is both traditional and modern with every amenity.

The evening meals were excellent, though we thought the food was a little too salty.

The property was in a beautiful situation located amongst a very peaceful and stunning environment. Staff were kind, friendly and exceedingly welcoming. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was delicious. Of our trip down through Spain and Portugal this was by far the best accommodation we stayed at. I will be recommending it to all our friends and acquaintances.
