Guesthouse Stari Tišler

The location was close to the old city centre as well as easy access to train/rail/bus. Superb staff! Superb! It makes such a difference. The rooms are clean and though simple (value for money), the breakfast, location and staff make it so pleasurable. They also had a loft window that could be fully opened…fresh air…wonderful! Also there is an open air area tables and chairs within the facility to relax. I am now in a more expensive hotel (closed windows and breakfast not as good) in another country and thinking that even though the rooms are luxurious, I would much rather be staying there for freshness of the rooms.

The rooms were basic as expected but value for money.

Very close to station and city centre. Really attentive staff who clearly really want to make sure you have a good experience. Very reasonably priced for a place of this quality. I enjoyed an evening meal there, too, at a great price with very helpful waiter.

This is NOT a criticism but travellers should be aware that since it is a family run establishment you have to check in earlier than in most hotels (and last orders at the restaurant is unusually early). I mention this because I came from Zagreb and there's an afternoon and an evening train direct. If I had gotten the evening train I would have arrived too late to check-in... So pay attention to the details when booking.

Stari Tišler was located within a 5 minute walk to the old town and also the bus and train station in the other direction. So very conveniently located. I enjoyed some delicious traditional food there as well. The Hostess Betty was terrific and extremely helpful. The staff were friendly and courteous, nothing was too much trouble for them. Shout out to Mark and Nina. My room was clean and comfortable.

The only drawback I found was my bed was less than knee high off the floor, but once in it, it was very comfortable.

After a horrible train trip (Deutsche Bahn) with delay and cancellations catching the very last train connection to Ljubliana we had a warm reception in Stari Tiîsler and a good night in the comfortable family room with a big breakfast the next morning. We came here before and found the historical traditional place again a great start for city or country trips. The location nearby the train station is perfect for train travelers (if the train is running). We love the familiar atmosphere and the warm and open welcoming of our hosts.

The guesthouse is conveniently located between the Main Central Station and the Main Square. Walking distance from all public transport and near a lot of food, beverages, sightseeing and shopping options. The bathroom has a good-sized shower, the water pressure is excellent, and the overall cleanliness of the premises is outstanding. A special thanks to the staff that helped me get from and to the airport, even before I was there, with a special offer of cheaper and reliable transportation. Also, a special note regarding the breakfast. Delicious, full of options and available when we agreed to. The front-door restaurant also serves delicious local food (with a discount coupon for guests). Try the Gulasch!

The internet connection could be better. Although it works, sometimes it gets offline. As I was working and needed it, I sometimes had to restart my computer for the internet to work again. Apart from that, everything was above expectations.

The room was quite nice, good and big bed and a warm strong shower. Breakfast was great,a lot of different types of food, fresh fruits, strong koffee, cereals, bread, cake... We stayed at the weekend and there were somme party people shouting in the street. If you like to, you could close the window an turn on the air conditioning, I just don't like air conditioning air ;-).

Clean basic comfortable rooms in brilliant location. Lots of character. Excellent breakfast buffet. Available a little early which helped us get to our early bus. Great location 5 mins from train/bus station and centre of town. Betta was extremely helpful both times we stayed. Would recommend as a great place to stay in Ljubljana.

We didn’t like people smoking in the outside courtyard eating area. Seems to be a common problem in Slovenia even though it’s in the EU. Nothing else we didn’t like.

There wasn't a fridge and a kettle but for a short stay it wasn't important

A conveniently situated hotel, near to the central bus and train station and within easy walking distance of the town. The restaurant offered a good selection of delicious food at a very good price. The breakfast was nicely laid out and offered a good selection. The bathrooms were clean and had powerful showers with ample hot water. The wifi was very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our rooms were available before the check in time and there was no problem leaving our luggage after check out.

One of the rooms had a dismal outlook, looking onto a wall just a very short distance from the window. There did not appear to be an elevator.

The beds were more like a youth hostel, but the rooms were clean, and the bathroom was VERY nice. The attached restaurant had amazing food. I took my friend, who is Slovenian, and her daughters to dinner there, and the "traditional" items on the menu, she said took her back to her childhood. The garden space in the courtyard was so beautiful! You cannot beat the location. Very close to the bus station. And literally just steps to everything else in town. The building is a nice blend of the historical and comfort.

The children's meal sizes were huge! Maybe cut the size to reduce waste.
