Birdsnest Hostel Hongdae

It's cheap and in a good location. The wifi is fast. The woman at check in knew a lot and spoke English, so that was very helpful for trip planning. The beds have curtains for privacy.

They make you leave your backpack in the common area instead of the room, due to space issues. So I doubt you could store anything there.

One of the staff ladies was very rude but the guy who checked me in was great!! Also not a fault of the place, but the guests there were incredibly loud at 11pm and were being obnoxious.

TLDR; You MUST stay here at least once in your life! This is the place of legends. I stayed here for 4 weeks. Everyone has a story about the woman who works here. I can only tell you what happened to me, but trust me there are other amazing stories. Painfully Unfriendly. Does not acknowledge your presence at any time except to get you in to trouble for something. Tried to charge me 10.000 won for someone else leaving a cup in the living room. Scolded me for opening a window when it was hot. I didn't touch the window. Got me in to trouble for replacing the batteries on the door lock. Again, I didn't touch it. Kept on telling me "checkout at 11am" on days I wasn't checking out. As it turns out, she wants you out of the house from 11am until 3pm each day. Weird rule, but please at least tell me it's even a rule! Accused me of being Rude because I used the microwave when she was sitting one space away from it in the tiny kitchen. Then said it's ok because I'm old so I must not have any manners! She stayed in the same room as me and speaks to herself loudly and angrily in Korean at night time. And then gets me in to trouble for being loud at night! Met the owner and he is the nicest guy I've ever met in my life! Apologizing for the difficulties, offering discounts and talking about the history of the building and the hostel here. Aside from Steff (Or Julia, or whatever she decides to call herself this week), the hostel is serviceable enough, especially for the price. VERY amenable to meeting other guests. Great Location. I love Hongdae. Trust me, you have to stay here once and make your own legendary memories here

Very decent hostel at a great location. It has a good kitchen too which not every place in Seoul offers so that was a big plus. I really only slept there as I was out all day, so I'm not sure about the social vibe.

The Guy at the reception isn't always there, which doesn't have to be a problem, but I wasn't sure what to do when I wanted to check out at 7.30AM. someone told me I could just go but it would be nice if they put up a little sign.

It is located in a ice area with lots of coffee and other shops, not too far from Hondae station. The manager was very kind and helpful and the place had an overall very pleasant atmosphere. They have funny labels around the place :))

The bathroom ventilates with a window opening to outdoors, so it can be a bit chilly winter time. They don't accept credit cards, so if you don't like paying in cash when abroad, better pay ahead of time through Booking. Small lockers.

Managed by foreigner volunteers, we could keep our bags and head out. There is an Indian restaurant right opposite and kitchen facilities are decent.

Watch your head while climbing to upper floor. When fully occupied feels bit crowded. Not the most hygienic, well maintained hostel we experienced in South Korea If you can afford to spend a bit more, select a bit more premium place

Best money for value in seoul As a backpacker, i wanted an accomdation with pepole and in good location, so birdsnest is the perfect combo. Right in the middle of hondae** 5-15 min walk from everything: bars, restuarnt, clubs, shopping, conivent stores and the subway "honigk univ station" (big centrel station). Big shared room where i met a lot of forigeners to hang out with during my days in the city. The hostel manager is super nice with good english, he help me with everything that i needed. The perfect place for a budget travler

The ambience - it was my first time in a hostel/guest house and i had a good time. i met new friends. The staff - they were accommodating, friendly and courteous. The location - it was only a few minutes walk from HongDae. The price - It was worth the cheap price

Inevitable guests whose things are scattered all over the place, and they stink. I hope they install bidets in their toilets.

the main things there, which I liked - respectful and carried stuff. administration and director always stay in touch 24/7. administrator was waiting me at deep night after my flight. I was scared that no one will open me but stuff was waiting. if I felt myself not healthy, they cared about my warming. i highly recommend this hostel for every traveler!
