Hotel Alga

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and it's always lovely to return. Our daughter was 15 months when we first came and she is now 26. We love the hotel and the fact that we have the best of both worlds with the gardens and the pool, yet are so close to the beautiful little coves too. We loved swimming in the sea and the pool and did so daily. The proximity to the centre of Calella de Palafruguel is perfect too with great restaurants and walks along the wonderful coastline.

Having used this hotel so often, we were slightly sad that the reception staff were not as friendly as in the past. We also had a cockroach in the bathroom on our first night, not what we expected. We did get it dealt with but first we were offered a move to a room with a restricted view which was never going to be acceptable as one reason we booked these rooms is the view.

Garden, swimming pool and public area are exceptional, breakfast excellent. Location superb.

18 E per day to park. Standard room rather gloomy, not even a decent chair in the room. Too much beige and grey in the corridor and the room. Bathroom not separated with a wall and door from the room....pillows too hard. Not very welcoming.

The location was great with a good breakfast for a few nights stay. The pool area has plenty of sun loungers & umbrellas, & shaded grass areas to sunbathe comfortably. It was great to have pool towels provided.

Paying for the car park at a quieter time of year with many free spaces & street parking. €18 a day is also over-priced for parking your car at the hotel you're staying in. The twin room we had extended into the bathroom with glass partition doors between the toilet & bathroom/room, a proper pocket door to separate the bathroom & bedroom would be better for privacy. There was only a mirror in the bathroom also which again could not be used if someone was in the toilet or shower because of the glass partition doors. A bedroom mirror would help. And finally additional hooks or a small retractable washing line would help for drying swimsuits/towels etc as there was no where to hang & dry items in the room (twin room with no balcony).

We loved our stay at hotel Alga, it was the perfect place for a family holiday! The hotel was immaculate, the gardens were beautiful, the food was very good - my children especially loved breakfast! My youngest made some lovely friends at the pool, and their families return every year as they enjoy the hotel so much!

All the staff on reception were extremely helpful. The room was spotless and towels and linen changed daily. The pool was of a good size and well maintained. The lady in charge of pool towels who also acted as lifeguard was lovely. The hotel is very well situated for access to the beach and village of Calella and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

The lift is very small.

Lovely staff. Very helpfull and friendly. Room and public areas were all really clean. Location a great mixture of proximity to the beach and privacy/peacefulness. Comfortable bed, not too hard.

Ventilation system was out of order in the hotel during our stay. So our first room was really hot. However the staff managed the situation really well and upgraded us to a better room for compensation. Luckily in May, having the balcony door open during night kept the room sufficiently cool.

Location, excellent pool and garden, room view, covid measures, relaxed stay

Parking spot has an extra cost, breakfast cluld be better

Very pleasant staff, pretty view from terrace off room, delicious dinner in hotel restaurant and delicious breakfast (latter was included with room)

Hotel wasnt particulary full, but there were guests in the room right next to ours and when we outside our terrace, we could hear their conversation,smell their cigarette smoke, and in the morning, hear snoring!

spacious communal areas, lovely gardens. Extremely helpful staff

lots of steps to restaurant, lift did not go down to restaurant. The pillows were slightly too soft for my liking, I persevered with the pillow , on reflection I should have sought replacement . wish also we had gone for sea view.

Absolutely not enough plugs, so strange there is hardly any to hook up your phone i just did not understand that??? Also pool hours very strange we dont want to wait as Canadians to use the pool at 11 am? the staff still were not there for towels and it closes early as well!
