Lanna Oriental Hotel - SHA Extra Plus

The staff were extremely friendly and help full. The location was fantastic, just 2 minute walk to great cafes (the Fern Cafe was fantastic), massage locations (Calm massage), and a Japanese restaurant (Matsu Japanese). Even though it was very central, it was somewhat calm (see following note) and easy to walk.

The fact that they had an "open sky" bar at the front with music all day. My room was near the reception, where the music could be heard somewhat loud, and make taking a nap impossible.

Location was great! Walking distance to Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan temple which is beautiful and also short distance to the night market. It has good gym facilities and nice pool area. Breakfast was ok, just basic options: fruit, cereal, eggs, bread and coffee. Plenty of transport options around the area and good restaurants nearby. Goodsouls vegetarian restaurant is 5 min walk and it is great (this is coming from someone who isn't vegetarian)

The room set-up was odd, the bed obstructed the path into the badroom. The, bathroom drainage was poor and the sliding door was hard to close

Nice facility where most - but not all - rooms - are well sheltered from street noise. Although a bit small, the pool and gym are quite acceptable. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Best of all, Kai the Bar Maestro was charming and delightful.

Go for the room upgrade, particularly if you're close to the street. Not extremely noisy but the occasional motorbike or truck can be quite loud. Location in the N/W quadrant of the Old City is good but a little removed from best/busiest areas (though still well within a moderate walk or tuk-tuk ride).

hotel has everything, but do get the deluxe room! the rooms with the bed on floor are on the sun side and get warm. unfortunately our Aircon didn’t work. The manager was very professional and offered us the only other available room which was for a large family with connecting rooms. We ended up staying the night in our room as it had cooled down enough. We even extended our stay and booked a deluxe room which was simply amazing!! We spent a night in the jungle but to avoid hassle of packing etc, the staff moved our luggage from one room to another!

The room was very pretty and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant and bar are very good.

My safe was broken and they didn't fix it. My bed was on a platform which I didn't understand in advance so it was a little difficult to navigate the room. When I checked out I tried with three people to use my cash to pay for sunny y and there was a communication barrier that prevented them from helping me. Also the toiletries and water we're not consistently replaced every day - sometimes yes but not every day.

loved the room, and how they supplied from toothbrushes, toothpaste to shave kit! the hotel is clean, has bright and beautiful decoration. The pool is also very nice! would definitely recommend

for me, personally the breakfast option was very unusual, if you’re not from Asia, you’ll feel that the breakfast options are basically lunch. There was no cheese, scrambled eggs or omelet, for a more “western” breakfast option we were limited for toast with butter / jam with ham or cereal with milk or fried egg, that’s all

Everything was great, variety of amenities available, and very clean. Staff is kind and helpful.

Like many others have mentioned it’s that the walls are quite thin. So basically, almost every morning at around 7:00 there would be kids screaming in the hallway or the pool area causing me to wake up, since I could hear it so well. It’s definitely not a deal breaker, because otherwise this is a really pleasant and central hotel in Chiang Mai. But if you are a light sleeper, I suggest having ear plugs.

The service was top notch and the staff really friendly and helpful. Place was clean (I'm a stickler). The room and building has a classic feel, which was nice.

My room came attached with a balcony, which was lovely, but it faced other rooms so I had to keep the curtains shut. A tip if you wanna stay here - ask for a room which the neighbours can't see through! 😀

The bed was low to the ground and difficult for me getting out of bed, which I need to do a few times during the night. Also, there are short half steps from the bed into the bathroom and down into the tea kettle area. I had to move very slowly and carefully and when I miss a step it is jarring to the back.

The outside bar was great and cheap. The attached coffee shop was great. Opposite was cheap and authentic food. The gymnasium and pool were good. The price was cheap.

Breakfast was not the best.. the food ex eggs and bacon were cooked earlier and left out and were cold. The rooms were so noisy in the mornings ... you could hear your neighbours. Fine if you're up early or a great sleeper.
