Olancha RV Park and Motel

I can only speak for trailer 22B. If you open the blinds on this suite you are facing the mountains with nothing in front of you. The windows are huge with an unimpeded view of the mountains and the light as it moves toward dusk and also in the early morning. That desert light is always changing. That's why this isn't your ordinary motel. Someone has put a lot of loving care into this place. They've made it homey and comfortable. The air conditioner isn't loud and you can set it to the temperature you want. There is a cafe' and I had the Olancha Burger. It was really good. The people are nice.

There are nitpicky things for people to comment on everywhere they go. I felt like the charge was over what I'd arranged on this site, but I would pay it again for this particular suite.

The manager, Alex, was super helpful and a nice guy. We loved the Raven Tipi - stayed with two adults and two children and it felt like an adventure. The Cafe on site meant we could stop for the night, eat, and crash. Electric blankets in the tipi kept us toasty warm even with the temp outside around 40 degrees!

Beware that when there are high winds the tipis are LOUD. It's right next to the highway so you also get some highway noise. Wear socks for sure in the tipi because the kids got splinters when they didn't.

We made a roadtrip at the West Coast so we booked a decent amount of motels/hotels during our trip but one of the bests was definitely Olancha! It is in the middle of the nowhere but still was very easy to find, well signed. We arrived late at night, but the keys were already prepared so we could easily get to our room (we booked a room not a tupe but they also looked pretty cool!). Room is very nice, had this historical vibe, bathroom with the tiles is supernice too. Our room was facing to the mountains but since we arrived from LA in the middle of the night, we haven’t seen the environment around us so in the following morning when we opened the curtains… omg! The view was amazing! They have a small buffet, where they offer breakfast but we have just grabbed some coffee.

Super Comfortable beds and bedding in Teepees. Two great room heaters and little fridge. Buffalo Teepee close to the outhouse. Only drawback - no hand soap or way to dry hands. Alex was super gracious! The property is balanced great with lights at night- but not so much you miss all the amazing stars at night. YOU have to have the Olancha Breakfast with bacon for $12! The bacon is the best Ive had since the 70’s on a ranch. Skip the pancakes if you like lighter style, as they were quite dense. I didn’t see the RV rates on website, but I would camp there for a night! Again, Alex was super professional and answered all my questions before, during and at the end of our stay. I’d stay again for sure!!

Hand soap and towels needed in outhouse type bathrooms.

The lady at the front desk who also was the bartender and chef at the same time was really friendly and tried to make everything as good as possible. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice. It was quiet enough to sleep although it’s close to the street.

The pool could need a renovation, there’s a lot of old stuff in the yard, this could have been cleaned up. The room itself could also need a renovation. Food was good, but a bit too expensive.

no laundry room (when it says there is on the website), toilet paper was empty and not changed for the two days we were there (meaning not cleaned I guess) you have to be ready that we hear the cars super loud and it gets super cold ( the heating system isn’t enough) location for Death Valley is ok

The staff provided heating lamps and blankets to warm the teepees. The best feature was breakfast was a breakfast burrito that was freshly prepared in the kitchen when I ordered, it was delicious and really nice to have something cooked to order on a stove vs microwaved/reheated:

a little bit cold at night and had to wait a tiny bit to shower in the morning with only two bathrooms

The room was clean and comfortable. The ac was already running for us. The pool was great. We had everything we needed and plan to stay again

The outside was shabby. There wasn't trash, but peeling paint and broken fencing. We were afraid what we would find behind the door of our room, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The whole place was rustic chic. It was cute. It was nice that there was a café where you could get food since there wasn’t much around. It was convenient for going to Death Valley and nice that there was a pool. There were plenty electrical outlets in the teepee, including a mini fridge, fans, and heaters. The beds were comfortable.

The AC could be inconsistent whether it was working in the teepee. Because the bottom of the teepee doesn’t close all the way, you can get some bugs inside. Some black stuff fell from the ceiling fan in the teepee. Not all the faucets or lights worked on the grounds. The pool was a bit dirty. The place is right off a major highway, so you can hear traffic all night.

We stayed in one of the Olancha tipi rooms, which was more spacious than expected for the two of us. Everything was clean, organized, and beautifully decorated. We were able to plug in both phones and laptop with no problems. Tanya took care of everything we needed from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. She was amazing and ready to help all day long!

It was our own choice to stay in a tipi, so not really a fault of the property but it was much hotter than expected. They provided a water cooler but due to the high temps (over 100 F), you would need to drop a bag of ice it in every 30 minutes to get relief.
