Microtel Inn and Suites Clear Lake

The staff was friendly at check in. My husband was worried about our motorcycle in the parking lot, but she showed us the security cameras that were facing the parking lot and she also changed our hotel room to a room facing the parking to ease his worries. The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel was close to several restaurant options, which also offered discounts if you showed your room key. It was a short drive to downtown Clear Lake.

The breakfast options were minimal. Price was higher than I would normally pay for this type of hotel in Iowa. The room was humid and warm when we first came in. Took some time to get the temperature down in the room. The window curtain was stained from water damage.

The young man at the desk was awesome. Very kind, made sure I had everything I needed. Very hard working gentleman!

The first room I was assigned to smelled very moldy and musty. Got a new room after being in the room for about half hour. New room #105 ,was much better.

We were in the area for a couple of events where food was provided so we weren't looking for a big breakfast. There was plenty to choose from. The location was good for the weekend events.

The room was small but it didn't really matter much because we were just looking for a place to sleep. We hadn't really been anywhere since COVID hit so was a bit of a shock of the increase in prices.

The beds are comfortable. It was clean and quiet.

The breakfast was all carbs. some meat would have been good. I didn’t realize until evening that the back door wasn’t lockable, in fact there was tape on the door latch. I would have appreciated more security.

The room was clean and comfortable and so was the property.

I noticed where the had done dome repair work on the walls and used a darker paint to touch it up. Also themetal band at the bottom of the connecting door was coming off. Room 201.

We were greeted by a friendly staff! Our room was available ahead of check in time. Very nice and clean!

There was nothing not to like! Location was great! We were in town for the Clear Lake 4th of July celebration! Everyone was nice and made for an exceptional weekend

The breakfast was simple, could of used more variety.

Everything was excellent, except the breakfast was a little disappointing. It could of had a little more variety.

The property was clean, the lobby was bright and the staff was gracious and helpful.

The room was nice, it was clean and served our needs, but the bathroom, that was not very nice. The toilet was not affixed to the floor it would move around and the floor was cracked up all around it. Lots of water damage on the ceilings and paint was peeling off the walls over the door. Shower had very low water pressure.

Breakfast was nice for the person I traveled with but would be nice to have more gluten free options other than just fruit and yogurt.

Nothing other than having gluten free options with breakfast.

We like this Microtel and have stayed here before. it's clean, near where we want to be and quiet. parking is convenient. We usually like the breakfast but just had coffee this time as we had other plans. Coffee is quite good.

We were charged $10 more than the price quoted when we reserved the space online. The guy at the desk was the only one there. He seemed really busy and overworked and we opted not to argue with him because I was not feeling well. We needed to get settled and then let me rest. but we really didn't need two beds and as large a room We also would like to be able to close the bathtub plug and use the tub for a bath as my disabilities prevent me from standing for a shower. Final thing - at some point when you redo rooms, the wall of mirrors could go.
