Hotel Rapids

Hotel Rapids is a pretty old structure, but it has been updated in a very good way. It's deceiving when you look at the exterior then go into your room. Nicely decorated studio type rooms. Quite trendy, very clean, wonderful staff. We could not have been happier anywhere else. I would definitely recommend Hotel Rapids to other travelers. Veterans Memorial Park is just across Hwy 2 and has super nice walking paths and lots of tall trees.

About the only thing I can think of is the door hinges on room 36 need to be oiled...they make a very loud noise when opening and closing the door.

We loved the remodel with all the pictures of the former motel, turned hotel. We loved the food, the crepes were amazing. We loved the yurt, what a special addition. We watched football out there. Very neat experience. The room was perfect for the two of us. The coffee in the room sweet addition and the breakfast coupons were so appreciated.

The beds, though clean and cutely decorated, seemed to sway in the middle, thus I had a terrible backache the whole night long each night. The website said $5 bloody mary's on Sunday's, which turned out not to true anymore. Not a problem, and we were given one at that price, but it was awkward to have to ask for that price. Also, I ordered a couple of Old Fashions and they were not even 3/4 full in the glass with a huge round ice cube, meaning not much of anything else in there for $9.50. I sipped, but if I took swallows, I might have gotten 2-3 swallows, so not worth the money.

The location was great! The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is on the property. The breakfasts were wonderful. They make homemade crepes with many choices to fill them! There's a lounge inside with a happy hour 4-6:00pm Free parking!

We were most pleased with our stay. The room lacked for a hanging rack to hang any clothes. This could be an easy fix and it would be helpful to have a hanging rack in the room! Other than that all was good.

This is a smaller informal hotel that has worked hard with Ikea to modernize it's look It has produced a reasonably comfortable outdoor extension to it's bar that doubles as the dining area. The staff are generally pleasant and friendly. It is a pet friendly location .

Understand walking in the free breakfast is a $10 voucher towards your breakfast cost With that said, I ordered the Cedars crepe and a bottomless cup of good coffee and paid $4.50 plus tip. It is pet friendly, which I love, but it also meant there had been a cat in the room prior to my stay and dander was trapped somewhere, possibly the throw pillow so I spent the night sneezing and with red eyes. Don't change your pet policy, just make sure everything is getting cleaned.

That it was sheek and modern. And very clean. I also adored the staff. The gentleman who worked the night of 11/25 and the gal with the beautiful sleeves at breakfast. My significant other and I only get limited time. He is a lutient in the army and is constantly moving around. Thanks for letting us feel like we could kick our feet up. 2000 people saw me rave about u online so I hope it helps. Take care. And keep going. Sincerely Angela

Sounds like the traffic is gonna come through the vents. So suggests to sleep with TV on. 👍

I liked the boutique type of hotel this Motor Lodge of my childhood has become. Everything is now clean, modern and the restaurant (instead of a truck stop menu) is now a crepe and coffee shop with a curated bar for evenings. If you are from GR or not, you will love this place. If you stay over, you receive a voucher for $10 off your breakfast order per person. Coffee drinks are a smidge cheaper than a Starbucks but the espresso machine is top notch. Only thing I suggest is that the bar manager creates an Espresso Martini. Yes, he knows.

The bed transfers motion a lot. Everytime my husband shifted position, I would be roused from a nice sleep.

The bed was comfortable they had comfortable bedding and the room was clean the I liked that there was a fridge in the room to keep cold things cold and there was a microwave

There wasn't enough lighting in the room and the bathroom was tiny the room wasn't very big either and it advertised that it was a complimentary breakfast but really it's a discounted breakfast and they only serve crapes I wish they had more of a selection and it was truly complimentary not discounted

We visit the Rapids Hotel for one main reason..."The Crape" They give you a certificate towards your breakfast. Which you may choose a tasty crape. They are delicious. The employees there are friendly and hard working. This time My husband's "Rainbow crape" was so fabulous, it was served cold/chilled. Personally I had another crape which was to be hot/warm however, this time I believe it was left under a heat light a bite to long because it was very, very dry. I had the same one previously and it was Fabulous too. I know this visit the Rapids Hotel was extremely busy or at least on this morning. So I am sure that attributed to the lack of or over dried out crape. We would Highly Recommend the Rapids Hotel. It is a nice trip away from home for a quick get away. It is comfy, cozy and the nature, trees and the town of Grand Rapids are very welcoming.

This time my crape was dry, not very hot. The last time we visited it was tasty, this time not so much.

The front desk and bartender/cook were both so very friendly and helpful. The little pub was perfect, serving craft cocktails and a nice variety of craft beers as well as some bottle beer selections. The personalized made crepes were outstanding. The room has been recently remodeled and impeccably clean. Bed and linens were very comfortable.

Nothing! I wouldn't change a thing!

They did a great job renovating and upgrading a mid-1960s motel. I stayed in their overflow unit (the last one to be rented). Even that unit, while smaller than the rest, was very good. The breakfast was amazing. I had the crepes with hollandaise sauce. The ratios were perfect. It was one of the best hollandaise I ever had. Not something I would expect in a local motel. The staff was exceptional - personable and competent.

Not much to complain about. No mints on the pillows maybe?
