Howard Johnson by Wyndham Oacoma Hotel & Suites

Clean pet friendly room, puppy didn't find anything on the floor and had no desire to mark over another pet. Breakfast was good! Cleaning staff was friendly. Great area to let the pet explore and exercise after a long car ride.

When we entered the building to check in there weren't any staff members in the lobby area. I waited a minute and then said hello, a woman appeared and said "ring the bell, don't yell" and pointed to a small business size card with a smaller button the size of a pencil eraser on the counter. I had to laugh, like I had just been punked, but she was serious faced and gave us a 2nd floor room with no elevator. I had sent a message ahead of time saying we had a puppy in a cage but no one replied. We had to lug all our stuff up the stairs to the second floor and down the hall. Large pet area out back could use better lighting and easier to get to from the main part of the hotel. Probably won't stay again on our way back through.

The location and the price. Breakfast was decent. Check in staff was friendly.

There were items left in our refrigerator and the door in our room had gaps all around the sides it didn’t provide a barrier for sound or protection from smoke/fire if there had been. Also we had a severe storm that left us with no power for several hours and the desk person had no idea what the procedure was for the guests. It sounded like she may not have been trained in that area.

The location was ideal for my stopping for the night on my way out to Rapid City. The hotel is right off of the interstate, yet I didn't have any highway noise bother me when I slept.

As with many hotels that I've stayed at, the breakfast is really something that I can't eat. There weren't any yogurts out, only toast, waffles, cereal (as in all carbs). That won't suffice for me so I ate out of my cooler, where I had packed appropriate foods.

Breakfast was really nice - lots of good choices. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. The Hot Tub was a nice way to relax after driving for 8+ hours. The hotel was within walking distance to a restaurant and close driving distance to a few different sight seeing activities. My son liked swimming in the pool although I thought the water was too cold.

Swimming pool water was really cold.

location. room was nice and big and super clean!! bed was great. awesome indoor pool and hot tub with a little workout room. nice and quiet!! definitely would recommend. breakfast was good!

service was a little slow when I first showed up. a line was at the front desk with people wondering where the employee was. but when she showed up was very nice.

very pleasant staff, exceptionally clean room, nice quiet location that is also pet friendly - all very important factors for us as we travel with an infant my father in law loved that the jacuzzi was open as well we frequently travel from Washington state to indiana and back but don’t typically take this route - glad we switched it up bc this hotel was a pleasant and welcoming experience compared to other hotels in various other cities.

nothing to dislike :) our particular a/c unit was very loud but nothing that couldn’t be remedied for future vacationers

Beds were very comfy but not what I consider luxury. I should have asked for a first floor as us OLD PEOPLE (67) had to carry all our junk up a long flight of stairs as there was NO ELEVATOR. Oh well, that was my fault, not theirs. The only reason I didn't give all perfect scores is due to use of styrofoam and plastic use in breakfast. We all know we need to stop using these materials and hotels serving breakfasts could start this by giving us reuseable stuff ONE TIME & then giving discount for bringing it back for future visits. Help us do better by encouraging using less plastic, PLEASE!!!

Use of styrofoam & plastic. Don't continue to let lazy guests have single-use plastics. It's wrecking our planet. Be a leader. Plan a policy for reducing waste.

Very clean and comfortable place to stay. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is adequate for a continental breakfast. This was our 3rd stay in Oacoma and at this hotel. We will stay again when we're in the area.

An elevator would make this hotel perfect.

The room was clean and bright. Beds where comfortable.

Pool and hot tub needed vaccumed. The chlorine was so strong it burned your eyes and throat. The water was cloudy because of over chlorinated. We enjoy the pools on out trips so it was a big bummer that we couldn't enjoy this space.

Friendly, caring staff. There were some challenges with my reservation, but they were solved quickly and thoughtfully at check-in. My daughter and her partner were put close to our room. The self-serve breakfast included hot scrambled eggs and sausage, gravy, and an opportunity for make-your-own waffles. Also bagels, and blueberry muffins. It was simple but good.
