Airlie Beach Magnums - Adults Only

Perfect location, on the main strip and close to the beach and Lagoon. Some of the staff were really friendly and helped us to arrange our boat trip. Cool setting in the trees.

Very loud music from the bar, which is also called Magnums, but was made very clear to us that they were not connected and it is not a party hostel. Some of the kitchen appliances didn't work at all on one half of the kitchen. The fan in the bedroom was right under the light, so made it quite difficult to be around if the fan was on. When we were checking out one staff member was quite rude saying that we would be trespassing if were to use the kitchen facilities once we'd checked out. Seemed quite over the top given we just wanted to make some lunch before leaving for the airport.

Magnums feels like the centre of Airlie Beach, it’s huge - with a very big bar at the front and nightclub above that. Great location, close to everything including big supermarket and few metres away. Live music in the bar area each night Cabins are great, almost hidden area in a ‘rainforest’ - it’s very unique, loved it.

It’s so annoying that it’s let down by the showers - which require you to turn the taps on for a minute on full blast to get heat. That would be fine but then adjusting them to a normal temperature is almost impossible. It feels like a pressure washer at scorching temperatures …. or cold, less/no pressure. It’s such a great place to stay but the showers might be the worst I’ve ever found. Fix that and it’s 10/10.

Individual room was welcomed and peaceful. AC worked well, private fridge in room was a nice touch. Beautiful landscaping right in the trees and feels very rustic/connected to nature. Live music was pleasant and added great ambience. Very central location and helpful staff.

Washrooms were shared and very rustic, water all over the floor due to poor design, toilet next to showers, would have been better to separate the showers and toilets more. Outdoor style meant lots of insects dead and alive in the shower. Found a spider on the curtain and a dead moth on the shower floor. Reading light would be nice in the bedroom as it only had a bright overhead light.

Absolutely amazing. The people on reception were really nice and genuine. The cabins were surrounded by trees and really did feel like you were surrounded by forest. There was local live music playing. The room had air conditioning and a small fridge. Shower and toilet were clean despite being shared. Amazing location. Woolworths was right next door but you couldn't tell as the trees were blocking it. If you crossed the road you ended up at the beach. A short 10 minute walk from the bus/ferry terminal. Just a perfect location and amazing atmosphere. Would absolutely stay again!

That we didn't stay longer! If I had to give it any bad points I would say the room was slightly too small and the plug sockets were above the bed, not next to it.

The room was a decent size and I liked having a fridge available to myself. The hotel is in an excellent location. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The shower was hot and powerful. I stayed in 6 hotels in Australia and Magnums had the best shower by far!!!!

The bathrooms could have been cleaner in terms of the spider webs and cobwebs on the ceiling. These are very easy to remove but appeared to have been overlooked by housekeeping. It was also a little annoying to have to wait to drop or collect bags from the luggage store at particular times. I am used to being able to do this whenever convenient for myself.

Great stay in the heart of town, lovely rainforest vibes despite being right in town. It is attached to one of the biggest bars in town, we were lucky that our room was far enough away that although we could still hear the music it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake but a large number of rooms would definitely be kept awake from the bar right out front. The free private parking was great and the staff were very helpful.

The WiFi didn't work and the kitchen doesn't open to 7:30am. We had an early start that morning for a Whitsundays trip so couldn't have breakfast.

Could have been a better system week nights to get into the bar. Cannot stay at the property unless you’re 18 then needed my ID to get in. Had to run back to the room right around the back of the property. Showed my ID then I forgot my water bottle that I originally had and ran back to my room again to get it then the bouncer requested to see my ID again. I appreciate that he was doing his job but it was a Tuesday night, then he proceeded to let a child in behind me. Was a bit confusing.

I stayed in a Queen cabin suite which was lovely. The trees and plants outside gave it a wilderness feel and the room was decorated nicely, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. I had two washing lines outside my room, the parking was easy to get to and close to my room and the laundry and kitchen facilities were easy to use. Honestly this place has everything you need. Central to everything and just a short walk to the lagoon, the beach, the shops, restaurants and bars. This place was perfect for a female solo traveller because there was enough going on at the attached bar to meet new people but it was still quiet at night as my room was set back.

I absolutely LOVED this hostel. I really cannot fault it. It is in a great location on the Main Street beside lots of bars, shops and tour operators. It’s approx 10 min walk from the marina where you can do jet skiing and tours to the Whitsundays. The facilities were great. We had a cabin with a shared bathroom, so for 6 rooms there was 2 toilets and 2 showers. Everything was kept to a high standard cleaning wise. The kitchen was also the best I’ve had in a hostel so far. Everyone was friendly and great craic. I’d 1000% return here.

There is NO UBER. The local taxi drivers have boycotted it. There is no reliable buses in the area either. If you are travelling by greyhound busses, I’d definitely recommend this hostel as it’s close walking distance. There is a Woolworths behind the hostel which is also a great help. Didn’t affect me but it probably isn’t the best place for people with mobility issues. Be mindful of this and maybe contact the property before booking.

Stayed for 3 nights for my birthday in Airlie beach and really enjoyed it. The place is so well run, clean, generous sized queen cabins, fully equipped kitchens with plenty of space. The adults-only element is perfect as it stops the screaming kids, and associated chaos 😂 the location is excellent, right in the centre of everything! The layout of the resort is genius because we never heard a single sound after 10pm from our cabin. There is a lively atmosphere out front with music and themed nights. Can't fault the place....I wish I had the money to stay a month, haha!!
