Southgate Motel

Location was central. Pool was nice but could have been warmer. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable and nice decor. Staff were friendly.

We had a room with an adjoining room so we could hear people next door and they could probably hear us. They were quiet after 9.30 p.m so we slept well. Staff forgot to tell us that the restaurant was closed for the following day after arrival so we were a bit unorganised for breakfast. The spa was out of order and the water in the pool needs to be warmer as Mt Gambier quite cool. There was a lot of lovely families with children which we were ok with but that is why I said I wouldn't recommend for a romantic holiday. We enjoyed our stay and would book again. Thank you

The bed was so comfortable and the staff were wonderful. We did have to leave early, and even though it was not their fault, the lovely person at the desk tried to refund us one night. The parking was great, excellent location and a very clean room. The port-a-cot was comfortable, clean and they provided a thoughtful bedding package for the cot which was a nice touch.

I thought the appliances could do with an update. We travelled with a baby and would have felt better with a cleaner, newer kettle and some little things like drinking water in the fridge. It was a small touch that could have made all the difference in the room.

The apartment was a great size for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. We particularly liked the recliners and big screen TV. The pool was great for a swim when we arrived and a good way to cool off after a long drive.

We didn't really have anything to complain about. The interior is a little dated, but it was all clean and functional, so nothing really to complain about.

The apartment has separate room, separate bathroom and good size lounge with tv in lounge and bedroom. Kitchen well appointed. Was on third floor with great views out of the bedroom and lounge. Very clean and comfortable bedding and great pillows. Overall what you would expect at the price and location.

Should have access to carpark lift for people walking back from local restaurants or shops. I had a bad knee and had to walk up the front driveway ramp twice. Also lift is not airconditioned and is slow so you get hot in it. Not good for us Mexicans (Vics) coming to Queensland.

Everything about this 4-star motel was a pleasant surprise and I will list all the things I can remember below: 1. They have a piano at the main entrance! What kind of a motel in a regional town has a full-size grand piano at the main entrance? 2. They have a full restaurant and bar at the motel, including room service options. 3. You can cast from your phone/laptop straight to the TV! 4. The TV remote lights up so you don't have to have the light on while watching TV. 5. The room has a table and a couch and is massive! 6. There is parking all around the motel with multiple access points, so you don't have to walk around the whole motel every time! 7. Staff are quick to action any requests and are very courteous. 8. Location is great with only a 2-min drive to the city centre. 9. The motel has a pool and sauna and they were both operational and great to have! 10. The main entrance also has little models for all the tourist destinations in the area, which was really cool to see! 11. Even for an old motel, all rooms security had been updated to access card, which was cool to see.

Sound insulation really needs an upgrade, but that's really about it. The doors slam really loud and you can hear kids running through the slab above. You can also hear people walking by in the corridor very clearly! Had some issues with our key, so staff had to let us in a couple of times and I wouldn't have thought much of it, but apparently others in the past have had similar issues too.

This property was amazing. the staff were very accommodating & friendly, our room was sensational and the whole property was really tastefully decorated and really clean. We were also able to cast from our phone to the tv, we honestly could not fault this property and will definitely go back..

Nothing we didn’t like about this property, the only exception would be that the WiFi kept dropping out, buts that’s the only thing.

What wasn't to like, on arrival we were greeted by friendly staff that we had amazing conversations with. The room was spacious and very comfortable and clean. The swimming pool area was well set up and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, we had Jess for dinner service, and our drinks were full and the meals were absolutely delicious. We have already recommended to friends and family that they must stay here.

As a last minute detour we stayed in Mt.Gambier and were lucky to find this hidden gem. As a frequent traveller in Australia and internationally I have stayed at many places, with 5 stars! I would highly recommend this beautiful boutique motel, newly renovated and well appointed. The service was incredible, from checkin, restaurant recommendations, assistance with parking our trailer, local area knowledge. Thank you Jayden and David for making us feel so welcome. I only wish we had stayed longer and could have enjoyed a swim and the restaurant!

the room was clean and the staff were lovely to deal with from booking to the room service to checkout and kept us up Upto date with everything. the building was easy to navigate and the after hours check in was super easy and convenient.

we were on the ground floor and could hear the guests above us walking around and was quite annoying. and the building was slightly outdated. the room service we got the food was cold like very cold.

Spacious, clean room with very comfortable bed, good bathroom and amazing shower. Plenty of free parking available, and only a very short drive away from shopping and restaurants.

Housekeeping could be improved - basic toiletries provided by most motels were not available, such as shower caps, body lotion, etc. We were also only given one hand towel and one face washer between two people, which seemed very odd, not sure if it was an oversight by housekeeping staff.
