Grand Hotel Sofia - Top Location, The Most Spacious Rooms in the City, Secured Paid Underground Parking

If you are visiting Sofia, I recommend you to book a room in this hotel. The location is great as you are in a short walking distance from Alexander Nevski Cathedral, Ivan Vazov Theatre and the Vitosha Boulevard. Also, the room is very spacious and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Just what you expect from a 5-star hotel.

Central location of the hotel was great for sightseeing, views from the room were grand (stayed in a corner suite with wide ranging views over city/mountains beyond); the first entrance to our room gave a distinct sense of elegance! Staff at reception were very helpful, housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. The free one way transportation to the airport (for the room in question) was a nice touch.

The breakfast selection was somewhat disappointing compared to equivalent hotels in other European cities. There were certain degree of randomness in daily housekeeping (replenishment of items e.g. shampoo, coffee pods) although these were immediately rectified when pointed out. A better coffee machine would be more appropriate for the room in question of superior status/price.

We had an amazing 5 days in Sofia and the trip was made even more amazing by our stay in the beautiful Sofia grand hotel. As the name implies this hotel is grand and everything was opulent and amazing. The rooms were spacious, bathrooms were huge with marble floor and walls. Everything oozed of class and opulence. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. All staff friendly and helpful. Location is amazing - at the centre of all tourist landmarks. And undoubtedly the best value for money hotel in Europe. Similar hotels in other countries will cost four times as much. And Sofia is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The hotel has an "old" aesthetic but it's comfortable and you can't beat the location! I wanted to stay at a place where I wouldn't have to worry about much and I can rest, and that's what I got. Overall, it was a good stay and I'd recommend it.

I think they had a wellness area but there was no information on their website and no one at reception said anything about it. But I did see a sign pointing to one... I didn't have a lot of time but if I knew in advance, I would've liked to see what they offered. The rooftop seemed nice as well but again - it wasn't really advertised.

The room is absolutely huge for the price, it was comfortable and well equipped - I loved the decor. Bath and a separate shower is a treat you don't normally get in standard rooms. Staff are super helpful and very polite. There was a problem with noise one evening and it was resolved without issue. Location is amazing, the park behind the hotel is beautiful. All the main attractions of Sofia are within walking distance. I'd be more than happy to stay here again!

I arrived late and there is no room service so I literally had to buy crisps from the corner shop for dinner. Espresso pods in room aren't free apparently which is a bit odd. I think having Netflix available rather than pay per view films would be a nice option, but it's not a big deal really.

Very fast replies from the reception (had a flight cancellation and could count on their support, transport replanning etc.), kind and supportive staff, huge, spacious rooms and overall plenty of space in the fitness room and common areas. Quiet location between a peaceful street and a very nice city park with a theatre and fountains. Very interesting sculptures around. Within a few minutes walking distance from the main shopping street and from main sights (President's office, cathedral, great National Archaeological Museum). Very recommendable !

For my first stay I had a corner room with a nice view, but unfortunately the windows don´t open. Fresh air is only available in the balcony and terrace rooms. For my second stay I had a terrace room on the top which was lovely, but unfortunately the deckchairs had been removed. I had been looking forward to them! The lady at the reception kindly told the roomservice staff to bring the chairs, so my stay was as expected. Lovely bathroom with bathtub, bathfoam and bathsalt supplied. Had a late checkout at a reasonable cost.

Breakfast was mediocre but okay.

The location was excellent, and the spot for breakfast was lovely. I loved the old style of the hotel. The rooms were really spacious and the staff were helpful.

Parking wasn’t included despite what the booking title said. Apparently the hotel have asked booking .com to change the listing several times but they haven’t updated it. As the booking title is misleading, the hotel agreed to waive the fee for us so it wasn’t a major issue, but they did ask for the fee initially. Under the bathroom counter there was a lot of dirt, which is to be expected, but I think they should either clean it or put some kick boards at the bottom to hide it. The room was lovely, but I think I may have been bitten, which made me think a deep clean could be in order! Curtains, sofas, carpets could be cleaned for a fresher smell. It didn’t impact our stay, but just things that could be improved.

It's a fabulous hotel - an extremely interesting place to stay for anyone interested in Communist-era architecture. The rooms really are huge -- difficult to imagine getting bigger anywhere at the price we paid. The location couldn't be better. And the staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. One of our best hotel experiences in years. Thank you very much to everyone!

The size of the room was enormous, and the bed was so comfortable. Very clean and quiet room, the breakfast was very rich too.

The things that I wouldn't say I didn't like but would recommend are: - Even though the staff were so polite and helpful, they should not discuss their private lifestyle or things of their daily life in front of clients and during their job. We've heard them to talk during our breakfast. This looked a bit unprofessional. - I really missed a power point in front of the mirror in the bathroom. Except the mentioned things above, we were very happy with our stay in the hotel.
