Château des Forges par Slow Village

Everything, the château, all the rooms (we booked 3 different rooms), the breakfast and special thanks to the young and friendly boy staff who was so ever helpful and polite (more enthusiastic than other lady staff)! The materials and quality of the renovation were impressive too and nicely furnished. Will definitely stay again in future. Despite its slightly higher end price, definitely worth the visit!

Nothing from all the 3 rooms from 3 different levels, all renovated so differently. Didn't have the chance to use the pool sadly, but otherwise perfect. Maybe a bit inaccessible for people who don't travel by cars.

Disaster city. Not the fault of the hotel. The hotel is beautiful but booking.com did not make it clear that we will be staying on the annex (probably the servants quarters) and although the room was quaint and tiny, it was not what we were expecting. So disappointed. We chose this place to stay in the chateau not the stables. Buyer beware when you book with booking.com!

It was a relaxing and comfortable stopover on a long journey. We enjoyed it so much that we booked it again for the return journey two weeks later. The staff were superb a perfect mix of friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel has been decorated in a style that marries the features of the old building with modern touches perfectly. The room was large, comfortable and stylish. The breakfast was fabulous. It is very close to the motorway, ideal after a long drive, but you would never know once you are in the grounds of the hotel, the beautiful grounds are very peaceful. We will certainly return to this hotel.

We found the endless emails from Slow Village (several most days leading up to the stay) asking us to download the app a bit overwhelming. We did download the app but it wasn't relevant to us. Not a big problem and not the hotel's fault, but they could perhaps feed this back to Slow Village.

This is a great find. Lovely building, great views and a real Country house feel. Great comms from the staff and v helpful. Breakfast was very good. We liked it so much we stayed another night.

No full restaurant so food provided externally for dinner. Understand reasons for this, particularly off season, but we had a very ordinary supper (having driven all day and not wanting to go out again). Full price restaurant prices for warmed lasagne was, I thought, a bit much. Food did the job but not great value. Just beware and explore the local places if you have time/energy.

Beautiful chateau in its own grounds with a swimming pool and landscaped garden. A lift gave us easy access to the room on the second floor. A bottle of filtered water was provided. Tea/ coffee making facilities in room.Easy parking. Friendly check-in staff spoke English.

Bedside lighting not convenient. Nowhere to hang towel for shower in bathroom. Breakfast we thought was expensive at 17 Euro each.

The pool! We’re cycling in a heatwave and the pool felt wonderful. Great room with comfy bedding. No AC but the fan worked well. We ordered from the ‘snack’ menu and it was perfectly adequate for our needs. We thought they were rather short staffed but the young man who served us was worth 3 staff! So busy, yet always friendly and helpful. We’d recommend it.

I’m afraid we got stuck in the lift. A sign saying it was out of order would have been useful. We shouted and a guest let us out.

All of it. The staff are friendly and professional. The Château has been renovated and decorated with great skill and taste. The beautiful old features are complimented by modern comforts. We had charcuterie platters served in our room that were excellent quality. The breakfast was superb, something for everyone, regardless of allergies, with some delicious surprises. Close to the motorway but peaceful, all you hear is birdsong. It is the perfecy way to break a long journey, but meits a longer stay. We have already booked again.

Beautiful setting, high up, overlooking the valley. The staff were friendly and attentive and patient with our poor standard of French. The food menu was limited but the food was excellent, so further choice wasn’t really needed. We loved the decor around the hotel and have taken some inspiration home. The pool area was well maintained and relaxing. The property had towels available to use, which was a nice touch. I would recommend this hotel and would have loved to have been able to stay longer than 1 night as there were things to do in the area.

Minor niggle - No air con in the room. Despite being in a cooler room, situated in the basement/lower ground floor it did get hot at night and I struggled to sleep through comfortably.

It’s on a great location, 250 meter from Terra botanica which is an amazing please for kids , the pool is great and open until late . Highly recommend the food breakfast and dinner (at reasonable price)

For people which not use to it not having air conditioning is challenging, but we asked for air fan and we got it immediately. So it made more sense . There is no shower gel or shampoo in the room or at kind of this kind But if you come arrange this is a great place to spans few days with your family. Highly recommend.

Great hotel stayed in annex rather than main building but accommodation was superb like your own flat with kitchen. The grounds were fantastic beautiful park like with red squirrels!!- staff were friendly - no restaurant but served snack type food which was good quality and breakfast was great. Good pool at the rear of hotel would definitely re visit
