Hotel Du Nord

Perfect location in the center of the city and a cheap private parking nearby. Very friendly: they even prepared a separate 'bed' for our dog. Nice staff, good breakfast.

Quite an old rooms, dusty and a little bit dilapidated, but that was expected for the price you pay (around EUR100 for 4 persons). Not a hotel-related tip: if you want to dine in the city on Saturday or Friday, book in advance: it's a small French city and all restaurants will be booked out on Wed-Thu already. There are some fast-food options and supermarkets, though, if you missed your chance.

There was alreays someone at the reception, even at lunch time and late evening. Friendly Staff. At the arrrival, there was even someone who joined me to the parking. The lady at the reception was friendly, flexible, and helpful. Clean rooms. enought linens and towels. Location is just amazing, in the heart of city. Despite to it's center location, because the hotel is on a sub street, it is quit in the night and even with opened windows, there were almost no noise from the streets. Great price value. The hotel is very flexible and I could check-in already at lunch time. At check-out day, I was able to leave the luggage and my car at parking until late afternoon. I would love to stay at this hotel again for the next visit in Besançon.

Location, the charm of an old style french hotel, kind reception and help with parking.

Don't use TOMTOM Gps to find it or to leave town. They haven't updated their map of Besancon the last ten years! Not any fault of the hotel of course! The windows to the street are well isolated against noise when shut, but I wonder what would happen in summer, if heat compelled you to keep them open.

Great value and location in center. Staff excellent and friendly and available. Spoke English. Allowed us to sit in the lobby area all day after we checked out- it was November and raining! Our 2nd stay and we will be back.

Some have said it’s not up to date. Who cares .. for the price it’s great. We were comfortable, warm in November, the shower was great. Everything worked.

We spent there only one night so the street parking in front of the hotel sufficed as it is free till 9AM. The hotel has a long ongoing history (we got nice information about it at the front desk). Good location close to shopping area and lots of bars and restaurants nearby, we had a very nice stay, the room was surprisingly quiet and warm, comfortable bed, friendly staff. The decor is a little dated, and shower was not very powerful, but the water was hot. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly squeezed orange juice, pastries and bread were delicious and of good quality, there was also yoghurt, cheese and slices of ham and fruit available, and priced at 9 euro it was very good value. I would stay again.

The shower lacked power, but for a 2 star hotel it is what I would expect.

Great value for the money. The lady at the reception was very helpful. The beds are comfortable. The location is great. The room was warm. During the night there was some loud music from another building - we told the receptionist and the music stopped soon.

We received an extremely warm welcome, which got us off to a good start. The hotel, perfectly located in the heart of the town but away from nightlife, has not been 'homogenised' and has a very personal feel. Staff were extremely helpful with information and with small things such as printing out documents and providing an iron. Our balcony had blooming geraniums, which introduced a festive feel.

Complex parking system. In order to get the car inside the area you need to enter the pedestrian zone using an intercom. You need to get a key fob for a garage nearby which is spacious but it is gravel and has large potholes.

Loved this place for a layover from cycling. The staff welcome was fantastic, bikes storage brilliant, strong wifi, and continental breakfast very good. We loved the room decor and the location was superb to walkabout the old town. Wod stay here again in a heartbeat, thanks team.
