Hotel de La Plage - Mahogany

Between the booking and our stay I read some other reviews and got slightly alarmed as they were, well, of mixed opinion. But we went and it was the most wonderful stay! Location of the hotel is perfect. Port/city centre with shops, restaurants a 10 min. walk away. Our room (garden view) was just lovely. Overall we liked the casual, beachy decor of the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was high quality and enjoying breakfast on the restaurant terrace with it's stunning sea view was a highlight each day. We also had dinner once at the restaurant and food was good and well executed. A bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion. My daughter got a manicure at the hotel's spa and liked it. Also found it good value for money. Also worth mentioning is the lovingly decorated small pool area connected to the spa. Pool is shallow, so just for refreshing not swimming, but it was a welcomed contrast to the busy public beach, perfect for reading or just dozing off. There is a busy road between the hotel and the beach (busy also in the evening, high season), but we did not find it too annoying. Overall we loved Hotel de la Plage Mahogany and plan to return.

Overall loved it but some minor points: Communication about parking reservation was a bit difficult. But worked out well in the end. Parking is a bit pricey. You'll have to be a fan of pebble beaches... and the beach right in front of the hotel was extremely packed with people. Well, it was high season and of course not within the hotel's responsibility. We would have appreciated a little fridge in our room. :-) Otherwise, room was well equipped!

The hotel is in a fabulous location . Beach is just across the road with views of the bay . The beach bar Same Same was fabulous . Short walk into the town . Away from the busy port but near enough to walk . Relaxed atmosphere . Breakfast was help yourself but good and generous . Rooms were clean with plenty of towels .

View was fantastic. We had a balcony over looking a small beach. Steam and sauna available which we enjoyed at no extra cost. Room very comfortable and location just a 10 minute or less walk to the historic section and port. Was skeptical since there were a few marginal reviews but our experience was great. Unloading zone and parking by the day in the next block. The hotel can arrange parking in the sister hotel next door if you prefer a more secure spot but same price as daily. Do make sure you visit the Calanques ! Easy kayak paddle, rent a boat yourself or a tour boat.

The hotel was directly across from a public beach, fabulous views, and walkable. (Up and down hills) to shops and lots of dining options. The room with balcony (#14) was decent size and very clean. Staff were friendly and pleasant.

The restaurant under the property (I don’t think its affiliated) was pumping loud music several nights- so much so we declined dining on property. While we took advantage of the spa (massage and nails), the staff did not give us a tour or promote it - although other clients were given tours upon arrival of the property. For the price, breakfast should hav been included, it was an extra 19 euro.

The location, view, and staff were all excellent. I was a little worried after reading some of the more negative reviews after I had already booked and cannot understand how our experience was the total opposite. the staff were extremely nice, especially with traveling with a young child. our room, even though it was a garden view and not ocean view, was also very bright, airy, quiet and comfortable. the large deep bathtub was a dream to soak in. they set up a very nice cot with blankets and sheets for my toddler. the beach is just a few steps away from the front entrance. maybe it’s not a „private“ beach, but honestly who cares. it was so easy to go with a toddler across the road and set up for a few hours of play on the beach and take in the breathtaking view and crystal clear water. the main town is a short walk away and I preferred that we were not right in the middle of town as the view from the hotel was more spectacular than the places in town and it was very nice to sit at night on the terrace and enjoy a glass of wine in the dark stillness. I would absolutely come back to this hotel again and I imagine splurging for the sea view would be well worth it as well even though the garden view room was extremely nice as well.

only negative, which wasn’t a big deal for us is that there is a small set of steps leading up to the hotel. we could easily just carry up the stroller and luggage but if someone has mobility issues then maybe that would be more difficult. also, since we were traveling with a baby it would have been nice if the room was equipped with a bar fridge to keep milk and baby food in, but we just improvised as it was only for two nights. we didn’t have the hotel breakfast and didn’t use the spa facilities so I can’t speak to those.

Wonderful view over the bay at breakfast ( which was delicious). Lovely room, cool design. Charming lady receptionist. Most comfortable bed of all our hotel bookings on our trip..high quality bedding.

Located just above a small Mediterranean beach, with the sound and breeze of the ocean, creating the most magical sleeping conditions, a short walk to the Port of Cassis and its restaurants and shops, beautiful views from the hotel. Excellent.

Rooms are gorgeous and well appointed, most have privateer terraces facing the ocean, 24 hour room service, restaurant, bar and boutique shop on the property, including a Spa. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. Private parking right next to property.

Fantastic breakfast, friendly staff, clean rooms with amazing views.

Our room had two showers, the best one was a little tight and the main one was a bath setup with a shower head that just didn’t stay in place. Could improve security cameras, had a problem with wallet stolen through no fault of hotel but security cameras were just not in the right locations to help. Extra sheets and towels missing on first night for our daughter on the sofa bed.

I had a beautiful room with a terrace and sea view. The hotel was in a quiet location slightly away from the main harbour and centre of Cassis but only 5 minutes walk away. Check out at 11.00 gives plenty of time for a swim in the morning at the beach across the road. Breakfast choice was good and I was especially pleased to find non dairy milk options available. Hotel terrace is beautiful and a great place to have a drink. Hotel staff were very helpful, especially in finding me a taxi to Marseille.

I would have like to have some proper curtains in the room and a bedside light. Drinks in the bar were very pricey.

Our room was clean , the beds comfy , great location and breakfast was fantastic ! Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back ! Wound like to try water view next time 😍

I can’t complain about one thing ! The front desk ladies were exceptional and accommodating!
