Hôtel d’Angleterre Grenoble Hyper-Centre

We had a family room at the top of the hotel so had lovely view of the mountains and town. The room was alright but slightly tired looking but had ac and was comfortable. Was in a good area to get around the town easily with plenty of restaurants around. The parking is a couple of streets away but do you get special rates through the hotel so works out ok, we had pushbikes which we were able to store in their shed area around the back of the hotel. Good breakfast

The staff were extremely welcoming and spoke to me in French when I said I wanted to practise! The location is fantastic. I did not have to use any public transport at all I could walk everywhere. I believe the hotel is very good value considering it’s location. There are plenty of lovely places to eat nearby and it also felt safe. The room was really nice. It was compact but had everything I needed!

The hotel very kindly allocated me a room with a view of the Place Victor Hugo however I was not made aware that this would be an extra charge on my bill the next day! The lady at reception was very helpful is sorting the matter and once I explained that I was not aware of the extra charge, she removed it.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Grenoble is a very walkable city and the hotel is within minutes of anything you need. The building itself has good character and charm. The front desk staff speak good English and were extremely kind and welcoming. Our room was clean when we arrived and was tidied up properly while we were away.

The building is old which I understand creates certain difficulties. Our room had an air conditioner that did not work. Thankfully it was not too hot outside. Our room had a balcony which was very enjoyable however did not provide a sense of security. The slab felt to be angled downward slightly and the railing was a bit shorter than a comfortable height. The restrooms could definitely use an upgrade however nothing was broken or not functioning properly.

Room service (cleaning) is only available in the morning. Some people are traveling from far away and need to rest (might miss the “only” cleaning shift) !! Perhaps having 2 shifts is a good idea.

Clean, the location is in the center. Historical building. Separate toilet, air conditioner, high ceiling and tall wooden windows.

The design interior is outdated but at the same time didn’t preserve the historical character of the exterior. Reminds of a style from the 1970s with cheap plain doors, popcorn walls and an office tiling ceiling.

Our room was on the fourth floor overlooking Victor Hugo Place. Our windows were large and we could open them for fresh air. The view of the Vercor was stunning. The hotel is at the heart of the city and Old Town and everything is walkable and a delight for the senses.

We liked everything.

Close to the centre and opposite the Marché de Noël. Reception staff were welcoming and very helpful.

Despite being a large double room, only one of everything (bath towel, hand towel, coffee cup, shampoo & shower gel) was in the room on arrival. However another one of each was brought to the room when we notified reception.

A really friendly, good value for money hotel. Brilliantly situated in the old town - clean spacious rooms and a good arrangement with the local car park. We will definitely come back. Highly recommended

Nothing really. Perhaps the rooms aren’t totally modern but they are very functional with plenty of room

Having a bath was a bonus. Also breakfast was exceptionally good.

Only parking which was a fair way away. Not really a surprise as this hotel is in the centre of a big town. We were unfortunate too in getting the 4th floor. Both of us are claustrophobic and won't go in a lift!

The hotel is wel situated in the centre of the car free area of the city provided you know in advance that you are authorized to drive with your car to the front of the hotel. We lost a lot of time to find our way to get there. The room was not big but with all required facilities. We slept well. The furnitures are a bit outdated and why old pictures of people from the 20th century on the wall ?( room 304). Also it is strange to have two options at different prices for the breakfast with almost the same choice except some local cheeses. The parking facility is nearby and affordable. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. I liked very much the old motor in the staircases area!

The equipment of the bathroom room 304 is low cost and outdated, and not conform to a three stars hôtel according to my opinion.
