Perfect central location right on the harbour, close to plenty shops, cafés and restaurants. Room is older and a bit dated, but also some of the rooms have balcony views of the harbour which is definitely worth it.

Rooms are older and a bit dated so not the most luxurious. However, for the price of the stay and perfect location this is not a major issue at all. Rooms are warm in the summer too with no AC so you need to leave the door open, which can be noisy at night outside. But when the doors are closed, the soundproofing is really good!

Great location on the harbour and about a 10 minute flat walk from the train station. Nice restaurant and bar on a corner location. Very easy to walk everywhere. Two double beds was great (most twin beds were like planks in other French hotels) but they did fill the room! We had nice meals in the restaurant but there is a great choice in the immediate neighbourhood.

The noise levels in the street outside meant we were very sleep deprived! Did not mind the buzz of the local restaurants and live music the problem was groups of teens/young adults who played their music (amplified) and were yelling until about 4am - this happened each night we were there. No sign of police or anyone else trying to enforce peace and quiet. Such a shame - perhaps we were unlucky with our timings but we had to keep the window open as it was so hot. The room and bathroom was cramped with minimal storage - no where to hang damp towels or anything. A few rails and hooks would be useful.

Great location right by the port. Good sized room (Rm 32) with a comfortable bed, bathroom and separate toilet and bidet. It had a great view towards the Ferris wheel. The hotel has a lift so handy if you're in the higher floors. The host was very welcoming and allowed us to store our luggage until we checked in so we could explore the town. They served a lovely continental breakfast which we enjoyed sitting out looking over the old port and famous towers. It's in the heart of the old port so close to shops and restaurants. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

No air conditioning meant you had to leave the window open for ventilation but the old port was quite noisy during the night so we needed to close the window to cut out the noise so it got a bit stuffy. The shower head holder was broken and there was no slip mat in the bath. However neither of these minor issues affected our enjoyment of our stay and it didn't warrant raising it with the manager.

The room was warm and a little stuffy but quiet; when I opened the window it was noisy through to 02.30 but cooler! The noise was because the hotel is on the corner overlooking the Vieux Port. Perfect location but with associated noise etc. The shower room was ‘shoe- horned’ into a cupboard! Easy walking distance of most sights, museums etc. Beware flying scooters and bicycles.

Size of shower room. Although well equipped with modern shower, toilet and basin, all were very close. Stubbed toe several times on shower base. Shower enclosure 2 tiles walls - fine, but a curtain for the other 2, although it did not cling to me it was as much use as a chocolate teapot for containing the water to the shower base. I used 2 towels to mop up the flood that risked inundating the fine parquet laminated floor of the bedroom.

An excellent place to stay in La Rochelle. For a 2* property, it would be hard to do better. Right by the old harbour, the location is fantastic, the rooms are very clean, including the en-suite bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and there is an elevator so no worries about hauling your case up to the 4th floor! Run by a friendly, helpful team.

the free wifi is good but the signal was weak on the 4th floor.

Worried when i read other reviews, but found it to be in a good location, lots of bars and restaurants. Bedroom and bathroom basic but clean,Small problem with hair dryer sorted straightaway. Manger very friendly. Would recommend and I would definately stay again. Thankyou.

Younger staff less friendly, Sunday morning staff very welcoming. No parking but found a car park 10 minutes from hotel. Room very warm, a little noisy but to be expected in the centre of La Rochelle

Staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. We were given a balcony with the most amazing view of the old port. Breakfast was good value and taken in the bar so we could watch the world go by, perfect.

Not the hotel's fault nor problem but parking in La Rochelle old port is an expensive nightmare. We finally parked in suburbs and got a taxi in. Not cheaper but at least we didn't have to get up early to move the car/feed a meter.

The location is possibly the best in La Rochelle, directly facing the harbour and towers with panoramic views. Our room has a balcony from where we sat and spent some wonderful times admiring the views and people watching.

Given the very central location, it could be a bit noisy at weekend evenings, but we are happy to overlook that given the fantastic location and views

I booked a room very last moment on the Saturday afternoon. Was welcomed in 15 minutes later. Mr le Patron was very kind upon arrival. His staff in the bar were adorable. For the price, location, and welcome it was excellent.
