La Rivière House - Péniche Carpe Diem

The boat is tastefully decorated with interesting features and is quite quirky in places. It is very clean and comfortable with an ample fresh French breakfast each day. There is loads of space to relax inside snd outside and a beautiful location on the river. Quite idyllic.

It was a fairly long walk to the supermarket and there were no restaurants in the immediate vicinity - a bike or car would have been useful - otherwise it’s a tram ride into Nantes. There was a problem getting in as the access code was changed at the last minute.

The location on the river was excellent, though the drive through the boat yard was a bit of a surprise. The breakfast was very good and it was nice to sit round a table and eat with the other guests. The hosts were very pleasant. Our room was very comfortable. As a place to stay I would recommend this highly.

The website offers dinner for, I think 20 euros. However it was very unclear what this meant and several attempts to get a reply by email falied. We had booked for both nights of our stay, nothing available on the first night and it was only at breakfast the next morning we found out that they put something in the fridge to be heated. Personally I would not use this option. If you're there on a Sunday or Monday night when fewer restaurants are open, there's a very good take away pizza place not too far away.

Lovely place and location. We arrived later than expected due to traffic and were kindly offered the facilities to cook our own meal. Which, after a trip to the local super market we did. Only downside were the mosquitos which meant we couldn't sit outside. Cabin was lovely, staff were great. We would visit again.

Mosquitos! Had to bring all our luggage in from car as not safe to leave overnight but thanks to Yannik for letting us know.

Very good continental breakfast. Unsure if any cooked breakfast was available - nothing was offered, so presumed there was nothing available (for example - eggs)

There was no one there when we arrived (except another guest) and no instructions. Fortunately the other guest told us where to find our keys. It would have been useful to have a set of instructions for arrival. Also it would be useful to know where the outside lights are / citronella candles / what to do with the doors, windows, fans, lights etc at night. My sons would have liked to use the SUPs (paddle boards) but we couldn't find the paddles.

instructions on pdf in French only. requested English but no reply. Fortunately the cleaning lady was very helpful as no one was there to greet us at 4 (as was said). unfortunately, the pathway home at night isn’t lit - lucky to have our phone with us to see which #’s to punch in. Otherwise, it was a very cool property.

I don't give 10 easily. Rooms on a boat itself is a great concept, but Joel's spin on things made our stay really carefree. Delicious breakfast, good coffee, clean rooms, really comfortable livingroom-kitchen area + the amazing deck to spend your days or late afternoons, watching the sun slowly going down with a nice glass of wine.

For dinner options, be ready to order food or cook for yourself, choice of restaurants in a walking distance is limited.

I liked everything about this stay. I was warm and cosy in my room which was good size and had lovely en-suite bathroom. The woodburning stove was perfect, the whole experience was comfortable and enjoyable. Location was good and there are good restaurants although you can have food delivered to the boat using the normal deliverers. There is something peaceful about being on a boat on the river and I slept really well☺️ Breakfast was generous and it was a pleasure to meet Chantal who organised it with a smile x. It was a pleasure also to be able to meet other fellow guests and have plenty of room inside and outside to talk with them. I would stay there again👍

I did not like that I only had one night there!

Absolutely what was expected and needed. The 15 year old of the party ate all the croissants but I am sure had we wanted more we could have asked for them.

We had a small problem with the code for entry as we seemed to have been sent to very easy when we used the right one.

Absolutely creative fun comfortable and the staff were excellent and very accommodating! Had the good fortune to meet the owner Janek and he was such a great host and so creative! Lovely family very welcoming will not hesitate to recommend and hopefully go back again!

That I only stayed for one night!

Very cool location, view was ace. Awesome place to wake up. Easy commute into Nantes.

We did not find Nantes very appealing. Had a hard time to find a charming restaurant and the city did not feel very 'french'. Lively pubs and kebab shops are widely available, if you like.
