Hotel Baseler Hof

Breakfast was lavish in German manner. More than anyone can eat with great variety. Baseler is an old hotel redone in good taste, excellent small meeting facilities. Rooms are on the small size. AC is rarely needed in Hamburg, but there are summer days, sometimes prolonged, where the lack of AC is a problem. Bathrooms all modernized but old deep tubs remain which makes for a less than satisfying shower experience (high step-over) and a half glass enclosure that is not great. Location is excellent, eating choices within walking distance, also shopping and boat cruises.

No aircon or ventilation in the room, and windows do not open fully so it becomes a bit dry in the nights. The double bed is actually two single beds put together, so there is a big gap in the middle and so I had to sleep on the side of the bed. The reading lamps on the sides of the bed were not attached really on the sides but kind of on the top pf the bed. (I assume room was designed for single bed and converted to double). Laying on the side of the bed due to previous point above, I kept hitting my head to the lamp in the night.

The hotel is amazing with a great profit for the price. We got a room with a comfortable bath tube and a balcont with a street view. The building was clean and located in a prime location. We could even take the touristic red bus from the station outside the hotel. We really enjoyed the free public trasport use the hotel offered to us. The staff were really nice and helpful.

The bed facilities could be better. I was feeling the pillows were a bit too squashy and too soft. Besides I found that their covers were re-sewed after probably previous ripping.

Great location, clean, comfortable and efficient. More character than more international hotel chain offerings . WE didn't dine in the hotel as we were meeting friends, but there are plenty of options for breakfast, luch or dinner in the area

It was hot in Hamburg for the week we were there. Our room wasn’t air conditioned and got quite warm overnight. Opening the windows solved this but unfortunately the noisy early morning deliveries between 6 and 7am in the street below our window woke us early every morning.

I liked the hotel it was very cozy and comfortable. It is in the city center, very close to jungfernstieg which is the best place in hamburg. The first they they give us a room which is cozy and nice but a little clostrophobic because there was another building very close to the windows but we told them if it is possible to change it to another room with a view , they did it the next day and were very helpfull. The receptionist were very nice and helpfull all the time. They give a free public transportation card which is free to use in subway and buses. The people that stayed in the hotel doesnt have to buy hamburg card or public transportation tickets because it is freely given by hotel which is very nice

We would recommend the Hotel Baseler Hof for a number of reasons - its central but quiet location close to all of Hamburg's central features and the city's very comprehensive transport system. The hotel itself which is well appointed with a friendly and helpful staff - especially Reception. A particular bonus was the attractive and comfortable Foyer lounge with its open fire.

Although the hotel's restaurant was pleasant with a good menu, it is on the pricey side, especially the optional breakfast. We thought it a bit strange that the lower priced Bistro was not open all week and that it closed at 2.30pm on the days that it was open.

The location of the hotel is excellent.The distance to the center is 5 minutes on foot.The distance to the train station is 500 meters.The distance to the airport is about 20 minutes.The hotel has enough facilities.employees are very interested.Jul: The rooms are clean.If there is no air conditioning in the rooms, there is not much need for air conditioning due to the air of Hamburg.Moreover, a fan is provided when requested.In short, if I were to come to Hamburg again, I would stay at this hotel again.The price is very good in terms of performance.

The location of the hotel is convenient, near shops, restaurants and U ban station from the airport.Staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a small double room which was more than big enough, clean, comfortable with a small fridge. I would definitely use this hotel when we visit Hamburg again.

Breakfast was rather expensive so we ate at one of the nearby cafes.

Our stay was thoroughly pleasant. The hospitality at Hotel Baseler Hof was great! Staff was professional on all fronts: from answering questions before our arrival, to an earlier check in during a holiday party and handling our late night delivery orders with ease. Throughout our visit we received consistently good housekeeping. Aesthetically it's cozy and full of pockets to learn interesting the hotel's building history and the generational stories which make this place so great. Highly suggest to visit if you enjoy a low key experience with a fabulous sauna!

The hotel was located just off the U1. There is a Hofbrauhaus Bavarian restaurant next door. The city's famous lake is just a few meters away, with a large shopping district just a 5-10 minute walk away. Many places to eat, drink, have coffee, some great German bread, or just people watch. The staff impressed me with their knowledge, professionalism, language skills and just their desire to assist travelers. Nice shower with great water pressure. Comfortable bed.

My room had a window facing the back alley. Even though my room had a number inthe 600s, it was on the 7th floor above ground, so on the 8th floor by US standards. The temperature was rather hot, 90sF/30sC and no AC. I was on the top floor so it was hot all day. There was a window i kept open all night. There was no maid service during my entire stay. I was surprised until I was made aware of the shortage of workers for travel another week into my trip. Smaller room than I anticipated.
