Maverick Urban Lodge

This was my first staying in the Hostels, before that i was very hesitant however i didn't regret it. The place was clean and the cleaning team work really hard to maintain it that way. Something i also liked about the design of the rooms that i have taken (4 Bed Room) is that, they had one door that allows you to go to a small common area where you find shower, washing basin and toilet in separate areas. In order for you to get to the room you will have to get into another door. This helped keeping the room very quite during my sleep. All the doors were accessed through cards (sometimes other users might leave them open but generally doors are closed), so make you sure you carry your key always with you. The Bunk got power plug and plenty of storage areas for your personal things. The main wardrobe has a good space that you can easily put your luggage in and lock it with pad lock ( Bring your own lock ). Floors have nice carpets making it more quite when moving around. The staff in general were extremely nice and very flexible, I had several encounters with them one of which i had to extend my stay for few days and they managed to allocate me the same bunk although it was a full house. The ladies are wonderful in the reception and very helpful too. Adam if i remember his name right he is amazing with all these activities that he runs on daily basis. He brings people around for good times and also for exploring the city. Parsa another wonderful guy very friendly hardworking guy that doesn't only stop at listening to your concerns, he will physically go with you to chase the issue until you are satisfied. I remember him struggling around to find a better place for a guest that had issues with the air cleaning smell and couldn't breathe well. He took an initiative to take her to another floor and switch of the air scent dispensers or humidifiers just for the lady to be able to use the kitchen in peace. Again i can't stress enough the team is amazing.

Beds are a noisy a slightest movement is causing noise. Breakfast had no consistency in menu

The location was good and the lockers were large. You didn’t need your own lock, they operated with the room key

The rooms were not well ventilated. We had aircon and had to use a fan at night. It was still too hot imo. The offered tours were so expensive. I’m not sure how they justify the price for backpackers. I was told 69€ for a boat cruise… I found one online for 25€. Laundry is also offered for 13 euro which is ok if you have a lot but I just had small garments so I walked 100m to the laundromat and paid 4€. I also found some of the staff rude and dismissive.

Conveniently located, about 5 min walk to the Central City Market, 2 min walk to the river, from where you can take tram no. 2 that basically takes you through all of the main sightseeing spots. I also found it relieving that you can unlock all the necessary doors and your personal locker with a single e-card so you should not worry about the safety of your belongings.

I couldn't reach for the cups on the shelves in the kitchen. Apparently, it was not designed for 5'3 people.

Maverick is a great place it is more like a hotel , very safe and nice location near the Danube where you can have nice walk . Every bed has curtain so you have your privacy ..there is also a small reading lamp and a socket for charging your phone. Bathrooms are great like in a hotel.Other hostels should learn from them.People working there are very friendly and professional.There is a cafe and restaurant as well and the prices are normal and coffee is very good I can say one of the best latte that I had in Budapest. It is great for short and longer stays Every floor has his own key and own kitchen and every room has own bathroom so you can easily shower without waiting for your turn. I felt very comfortable there. I highly recommend this hostel you would not be disappointed.It is very easy to find from the airport you just take E 100 to Kalvin ter and just walk trough Lonay street and you are at the hostel and tram stops are 2 mins from Maverick when you want to go further to Parliament or the center. I am highly recommending this place .

This was my first solo stay in hostel and I loved it. I liked that beds have curtains what gives you a bit of privacy. Everything that I needed was there: big showers, hairdryer, lockers that you can use with the hostel card. People were very nice and idea with a whatsapp group is great as you can connect with other travellers easily. I would stay here again :)

The best thing is fully equipped kitchen! There is a kettle, cutlery, plates, mugs, glasses. I’ve been travelling for the past 2 months and most hostels in Europe asked to pay for their kitchen. Super comfy bed with curtains. Cleanliness. I was amazed how clean it was, again compared to other places I’ve been too. Rain shower head in the bathroom. A towel free of charge. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Nice common area downstairs. I loved everything about this hostel. Thank you.

(1) The pictures of dorm given, look exactly the same as real. Curtains are thick, can shield the room's light. (2) Location near the tourists sports such as riverside, and also tram (Zsil ut.) but if you want to buy tickets, you might need to walk for 3-5 min to a bigger station (Fovam ter.). Its is also 5 min walk to Central Market, where we can buy souvenirs (also near Fovam ter.). (3) Dorm and toilet are very clean (level 1). The bed you get will have 1 power plug and 2 hanger sticker. They have a blanket and a big pillow, no towel tough. Toilet is separated from the room, each for girls and boys. (4) I book 6-female room, and got it. The roommates are also all quite. (6) They have an elevator (7) They have common room/pantry for cooking and eating, at level 3 and 4. (8) Although they have pub below, but the room at level 1 is soundproof. (9) Staffs are ok. Some are very friendly and smiling, some are just normal. The time to check out is at 11 but i request to check out at 1 and accepted.

(1) From outside, the front door dont have the words "Maverick Urban Lodge". People might confused with the Maverick City Lodge and Maverick Apartment, when searching for it. Its actually Maverick Pub. (2) Airport shuttle is too expensive: 18 Euro. anyway, you can use public transport for cheaper option, but might take a longer time.

Everything. It still hits me that this should be called "premium hostel". It seems completely new. Location is great, receptionists are nice and attentive (I talked to at least 4 of them; obviously all of them speak at least English plus their respective mother tongue), it's clean (as much as I can tell, there's constant cleaning), you get a pod in essence (pulling the thick curtains), spacious locker, spacious shower and loo, mattress and pillow are real good. Hooks in shower and in bed. 1 charging point at your bed and a light. Free towels (ask at reception if they forget to mention). Free shower gel. Not the hostel's making but (the changing) roommates were quiet, friendly and respectful (I stayed at a female only room). Based on the discrete rainbow flag at the reception, it seems to be gay friendly. There are a few groceries, restaurants and cafes in a few minutes walking distance plus the Main Market Hall. You can leave your luggages in storage room. Overall excellent!

The food in the cafe, sorry. Not a dislike but a hanger for drying the towels could help perhaps? It was end of September and the AC kept the room too warm during the night, I was sweating (I'll ask them about it).

One of the best Hostels I stayed in so far! I absolutely recommend the free bike tour by Adam, it was the best, thank you!!! + Very clean, the staff cleaned the rooms and bathrooms three times a day. NO bed bugs + comfortable beds with curtains for privacy and also good because Budapest is a party city and people come home late at night, so you don't wake up each other and can sleep in the morning + lamp and socket next to each bed + key cards for room and lockers + big lockers, I've never seen so big and clean lockers + girls and boys bathrooms were separate, big, with hair dryers and free towels at the reception + big and clean kitchen with everything you need on several floors + nice terrace upstairs + modern and comfy lobby + restaurant had yummy burgers and bar + you could pay Cash with Euro or Forint or Card at the reception + many flyers and information at reception + WhatsApp group with daily information about events (Pub Crawls, Party Boat, Bath party, Free bike tour, Free Wine Party in lobby) + events could be booked easily at the reception + nice staff + good location near the river and tram station. Approx. 20 - 30 min walking to city center. I would recommend a 72h ticket and if you buy a single ticket don't forget to stamp it! The fee is 12000 Forint (30€)...

The hostel is very big (200 people, 5 floors) and because of the curtains in the bedrooms very private and anonymous. If you are a very shy and introverted solo traveller, this hostel might not be so social for you. I would really recommend the free bike tour by Adam and free wine gathering, I met a lot of cool people there and we went partying together almost every night. Anyways you can always get out of your comfort zone and start talking to people in the lobby, everyone was very nice and we all had a fun time :)

The room was spacious and comfortable. The bar downstairs had good food and drinks at a reasonable price. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Location is a bit far from the centre by foot but it’s close enough to a tram station that takes you to the centre (line 2).

Whilst the room itself was great and very comfortable, the soundproofing was terrible. Our room was located on the floor of the common kitchen and therefore there was constant noise of people cooking/chatting at all hours; at some point we had to go ask a group of 5 to mind the noise as it was very late and they were basically shouting whilst we tried to sleep. We could also hear screaming/crying and people having sex in the rooms next to us. It’s a hostel at the end of the day, so unless you are on that vibe it doesn’t really work for people looking for peace and quiet. Not the hostel’s fault, but something to be aware of.
