Howard Johnson Kolkata

This was mid-tier hotel and the amenities were as to be expected for such hotel. Overall, the staff was nice, the hotel had nice decor in the lobby. I appreciated the wall paintings by local artists and happy to see that local art and business was being supported. Most importantly, the hotel promised an airport pickup and delivered well on that promise. For someone coming from abroad late at night, this was very important and I thank the hotel for providing the expected service (for a requisite fee).

A minor issue but I think the bed and bathroom could have been cleaner (it wasn't dirty).

Hotel was modern and clean and convenient to the airport. Evening staff not that welcoming and was reluctant to accept cash rather than card for some reason. Restaurant was clean with plenty of food on offer and big servings. The morning desk lady, Poona(?) Was very helpful and sorted our airport transfer.

Only one huge towel for both of us. We also asked for a staff member to help us set the air con on a warm setting, but he didn't understand and had it on cold which we couldn't change!

The Room, staffs, cleanliness, surrounding and near to Airport all are very nice. That's why I extend my stay here until 26 of July 2023. Earlier we planned to stay here 3 days and then shift to Central Kolkata but finally we change our plan as we found all other things are excellent.

Distance from Central Kolkata is a problems but it does not take much more time to get there. The hospitals are nearby that's a plus point. Also they have scope to improve their cooking.

The staff were all great, in particular Abdul from housekeeping and all of the restaurant staff. The gym, while a little small, is a nice additional facility offered by the hotel.

My only suggestion would be to replace the plastic bottled water in the rooms with reusable glass water bottles like those in the restaurant, to be more environmentally friendly.

The staff were excellent! The restaurant served delicious food. The room was very comfortable and had a great view.

The spa was terrible! I booked a 1 hour massage and the masseuse massaged me for 30 minutes and said the remaining time was for me to shower?! Never heard of that in my life! The gym also had a lot of broken equipment.

How do you remember a place? Any place you have stayed for more than a day or a place you would want to revisit? The first response will be how it looks, followed by the food, and you'll add the people. However, the entry to the place is a little weird, so you might get a little confused the first time you reach it as it shares the same complex as spencer. The reception area is modest but functional and spacious. Let's talk about the rooms now. The rooms are quiet, very clean, and functional. The beds and linen are comfortable. Quite frankly, the rooms are not built for a stroll from the bed to the bathroom, but it serves the purpose. Howard Johnson by Wyndham Kolkata checks all the tick boxes above, but more importantly, it's a big yes for the people working at the Howards Johson. Everything else is not essential if you have a staff as Howard Johson does or the policy they have in the hotel. It will be an understatement to say that the staff is courteous and goes beyond and above the requirements. From the moment you take a step out of the car in front of the hotel till the time you leave the premise, the service staff, the kitchen staff, the guards, the helpers, and everyone else makes an effort to speak with you, help you and understand your requirements. It is highly uncharacteristic for me to ask the name of everyone in the hotel because I want to write them here and thank them for being such a wonderful hosts. Therefore, a big shout out to Priyanka, Prince, Sukanta, Sudipta, Swarnadeep, and Pappu (housekeeping) from the reception and guest handling team. From the kitchen and service staff, shout out to Rashmi Sen, Subhankar, Ruttuik, Anumistha, Basant, and Sukhendu. These guys had endless energy. They always took my issues with a smile and ensured to resolve them. Thank You.

Speaking of the downside of the place, I would surely have wanted a few better options for breakfast. Introducing a local Bengali breakfast item will help the place a local flavor. Having said this, the breakfast was not half as bad, and I enjoyed the meal and the company of the service staff.

Near to Airport, clean, staffs with good behaviour, management is flexible and cooperative. They found committed and do not exaggerate anything. Room and window view is nice. Safety and security seems nice. We enjoyed our staying.

Location is far from Central Kolkata. Cooking can be improved. Some more items can be added like tooth paste, tooth brash etc.

I liked the staff the most, especially Puja from the reception desk. She was always helpful and charming. Subroto the young man from housekeeping was another person who made my stay so comfortable. The restaurant staff were extremely nice and helpful too. A huge thank you to all of them.

The amenities and the staff behavior and attitude was very good and the rooms were clean.

The rooms were very small and the AC was not working even after setting it at 18°c. The TV remote was missing. So, there was no option of changing the TV volume and there was only one towel in the entire room.

The staff was absolutely courteous. The breakfast was very good, and the sizzler options were amazing with very tasty vegetarian sizzlers . The room was good
