Sudamala Resort, Sanur, Bali

The Bule general Manager that spoke to all the Caucasian guest but totally did not approach the Asian ones even though I was at the next table having my breakfast alone.This happened a few days as I was staying for in total 8 days , few days before friends from Indonesia, Mexico and Malaysian joined for the weekend. In the hospitality industry and being the leader is really a bad example and attitude to have and show. otherwise the other local staff was super friendly and fabulous service all around in a serene place with easy access around Sanur.

Great location and beautiful ground floor room with private courtyard. Loved the nightly turn down service with the cookies and bedtime story scroll. Room service was excellent. Peaceful resort and very relaxing.

There were no staff at the pool for customers to get drinks or food. Some customers looked confused and were asking each other where to get drinks etc that were advertised on the promo boards near the pool. Several trips to the pool were had and each time we noticed that there was no staff there.

The twin Garden Deluxe room with my daughter was spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is fantastic. The design, layout and architecture is beautiful. Happy hour (5-8) of 2 for 1 cocktails was a lovely way to end the day.

Our first room, deluxe, had faulty air con. The staff attended to this immediately. The issue was that the filter had not been cleaned in some time. This was rectified quickly. When booking a reflexology foot massage at the spa, you expect the masseuse to have an understanding of foot anatomy. Otherwise, it is just an expensive foot rub. Sadly, the facials where rushed and not very relaxing. It was disappointing, while staying in a hotel as lovely as the Sudamala they do not provide an entertainment system with streaming such as Netflix etc. as we found in comparable properties. Not a complaint, just a reality, while the pool and surrounds are beautiful, the expanse of the pool and all day sun makes the water quite warm during the warmer seasons.

Sudamala deserves its 5 Star rating - staff offered a level of service that felt intuitive by anticipating our family's needs. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant excellent. Perfection.

The hotel has a beautiful rustic charm, with wide open spaces and amazing pool. The room was exceptionally clean and functional, with all the trimmings of slippers, robes and a mini fridge. The food in the restaurant was excellent and fantastic service by all staff throughout the hotel. They even have private umbrella’s set up at the beach on request. Fantastic stay and we will be back!

What a fabulous hotel.!!staff could not do enough to help me when i arrived and had trouble with day 3 pct test.lovely room.great pool area. Restaurant out the front is good value.but what makes this hotel special is the staff.everyone from the cleaners to reception were so friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.cherrs Paul

Super friendly staff! Can’t do enough for you. Clean spacious room. Good variety for breakfast - delicious food. Spa massages were amazing. Large outdoor pool. Bicycles available if you’d like to cycle into the Town of Sanur.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Sudamala - they have done such a great job bouncing back from Covid. From excellent communication (and organizing an airport pick up for us), to packing us an early takeaway breakfast at 6:30 before our early tour to the the beautifully cared for grounds and comfortable rooms - we have been impressed. Location is spectacular - short stroll to the beach but nice, quiet and peaceful. Super comfy beds, great aircon and hot showers are excellent. Ample food options, and there are restaurants, money exchange, spas etc just a few meters away. Would happily stay again, great value and a wonderful stay. The staff are SO helpful and friendly.

This hotel’s attention to detail is what made our stay here so lovely. From the welcome note on a leaf, to the turndown service with bedtime story & cookies, it all made for an exceptional end to our holiday. The hotel has a kind of zen feeling to it, it is very traditionally Balinese & very peaceful…it’s like a little oasis! The swimming pool is large but never crowded & there’s plenty of sunloungers. The hotel is a short walk to the beach where it has a private area but we didn’t manage to use this! There’s a small art gallery & a library plus a spa which we did use and had a wonderful massage & facial. There’s umbrellas for the rainy season & bicycles free to borrow to explore the promenade in Sanur. The hotel is located towards the end of that promenade, nearer to the port but still plenty of restaurants & shops around. I should also say that they upgraded one of our rooms to a suite & permitted late checkout which was much appreciated!.

Nothing! If I’m being picky, there were limited to food options in the pool menu & we had a slightly less firefly server for breakfast one morning, but I’m being really picky now! I’d say this hotel has a slightly older clientele so maybe not for families with teens looking for activities round the pool & music but that suited us fine!

This was my fourth stay here. Unlike other places in Bali it remains consistently excellent. I love that it is usually very quiet and peaceful. The place is beautiful.

Two minor issues but neither are life changing - I had noisy Australians in the room below and I could hear every word the bogan had to say, every day. She was just not aware her voice was echoing in the outdoor bathroom. A possible thing others might not enjoy. The other issue, the doors to rooms are beautiful but mine did not close fully when I was in the room. It locked fine from outside, so I just put a chair up to it when I was there. They’re just a little rustic. I still felt safe, I just wasn’t sure if it would stay shut.
