Authent Hotel Otaru

The location was perfect - a few hundred metres walk from the train station, and the bakery on the ground floor sold the most heavenly food. The room was spotlessly clean and really comfortable, with everything you could think of included for the stay. We found ourselves wondering why the hotel didn't have more stars, and suspect it's because the facilities are a little older (eg keys not keycards to get into rooms, that kind of thing), but it was such a lovely hotel, and we'll definitely be back. The spa facilities were also great, we all left feeling like we'd discovered a hidden gem. We didn't order room service but the menu was comprehensive, and everything was both in English and Japanese. The staff were attentive and friendly, and it was one of the quickest check in and check out experiences we've had anywhere in Japan.

The only small disappointment was the restaurant downstairs was closed when we wanted to have a quick coffee before checking out the next morning. Everything else was great.

Outstanding service; classic hotel with lovely lobby and large rooms (ours had lovely view of ocean and Otaru canal area). Great location with parking next door and step out of lobby into walking mall, yet only a few blocks to 'sushi street' and Otaru canal area. Breakfast was expensive, but very good with a vast selection. Highly recommended.

The bar/lounge area on the upper floor of the hotel seems to no longer be operating as a bar (only being used for the breakfast buffet) which is a shame, as it has amazing views and is a lovely venue. Hopefully it will open again in the evenings. currently, the view can be enjoyed at breakfast, at least.

Convenient location close to the railway station in the centre of Otaru. Easy walking distance to the harbour and canals. Very clean with comfortable bedding.The staff were all professional and friendly.The front office manager,Mr Jongshin was exceptionally helpful and made our stay memorable.We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in November 2023. Well located hotel and walking distances to Otaru restaurants, just opposite the convenient stores Lawson, walk about 10 mins to attraction points Otaru Canal and shopping street.. Rooms are clean and big enought. Staffs are very polite and professional, onsite parking is convenient.

They provided a cot for our baby which is nice & a very cute kids amenity pack. The room was old & dated but well kept & although the toilet was yellow, it was very clean.

Most of the staff do not speak English, but tried their best to communicate. The electronic parking system broke down & we had to wait 1hour+ just to get out that day.. was definitely not a great start to our day.

I like the hotel facilities including the onsen, the service was superb, staff are nice and brought our luggages to our room to be ready for when we check-in. Also good location! Enjoyed the stay with my family!

I just hoped that the onsen was open in the morning before check-out time to be able to relax a bit more and freshen up.

Well located hotel with Lawson right at the door step! Walking distance to Otaru Canal and restaurants, onsite parking is convenient. Room is very clean though design is dated.

The room access is via a key rather than key card which seems quite old fashioned. There is only 1 key despite us having a triple room. Onsite parking is 1000 yen per night despite being a guest.

Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and understanding! Special mention to Cheung( hope spelling correct)! Saved us from being stuck in Kiroro!! Position in Otaru is perfect ( in the covered mall!) cleaning staff were also amazing!

I came with my family and we booked a room for four for two days . The room was very clean, amenities very complete and all work well. Staff at the reception and housekeeping were very pleasant and very helpful, we really enjoyed our stay and glad we chose this hotel. What came as an additional surprise was the perfect location for shopping and food, there were so many interesting things within just a short walk!

Location is good and easily access to all main points. Car parking is available (paid 800 yens) and is in-door although it must be operated by staff. Vending machine is available for quick drink and there is public bath on the third floor.

Car park for guest should be free.
