The colonial architecture is so full of character and the room interior is so well thought through, and I am an Architect. Well done GDP. But most of all I loved how helpful and friendly all the staff were, from concierge to housekeeping were excellent.

The breakfast buffet could really be improved on. Hotel feels 5 star but food was like dining in a 3 star hotel. Penang is famous for its food, Lone Pine should celebrate this. Dont settle for lackluster hotel fair, especially at the amount we pay to stay here.

Am a return guest after 10 years. Layout with beautiful front and back landscaping and Bungalow all well maintained and welcoming / relaxed vibe. Original room layout with sea facing balcony and bathroom which can be cleverly adjusted as open / closed plan is fab. Bed v comfortable. Fans most welcome. Love the old style architecture blast from the past.

1) Was disappointed about faded / aged look, no real upkeep or maintenance in rooms esp. Scratched paint on interior decor. Big circular frame for TV was jarring. Not in keeping with 1970s / minimalist feel. 2) lift got jammed 3) should hv info on local sights, foodie haunts etc for Batu Ferringhi & Penang 4) strange why there is no master control of electricity. We had to switch off items 1 by 1

1. Friendly staffs during check in 2. Beautiful garden 3. Excellent cleanliness 4. Privacy matters 5. Spacious room 6. Available parking

1.Tiny space for reception - its hot, not enough seats 2. Breakfast seating is not appropriate - breakfast menu quite boring 3. Moderate housekeeping - the room occupied for 4 adults but only 3 towels given 4. Cracked plastic "drinking cup" - served food without napkin/tissue/fork/chopstick

Room is newly refurbished. Very comfortable & cosy, especially the bed. Toilet is so spacious with all the good quality amenities. Love the deco of the room too.

Too bad that the spa has closed down & the other 2 restaurants too, japanese & The Bangalow. There were some renovation work by the pool on the day i arrived, 21st Sept. So i didn’t use the pool. But pool was opened.

Service: Friendly and well-mannered staff made the stay pleasant. Plus, free (very shaded by trees) parking. The shady garden space, with its serene assembly of trees, stands out as a haven. Here, you'll find calm as a silent companion. The noisy beach may trouble some, but in the garden's embrace, peace is the resident melody. Worth the stay? Most certainly. The beach may be noisy, but it's the waves that stay with you.

Noise from beach activities (Weekends), especially jet-skis. An irritating disruption to the tranquility sought upon arrival. Thankfully, the soothing sounds of the breaking waves could still be heard from the sea-facing rooms, even with the balcony door closed.

The view was fantastic. We stayed in the Garden Room. It opened out to the beach. There were lovely Casuarina trees between the room and the beach. Saw Malayan black giant squirrels on the Casuarina trees.

Just three little things: 1. There were three little gates that led to the beach from the hotel compound. Unfortunately two of these gates were kept padlocked. We had to walk a distance to get to the unlocked gate. I would like to suggest that all three gates are left open. Security is not an issue as the hedge is very low. Anyone can jump over the hedge, anyway. And there are security guards always present doing a good job. 2. The hotel was not pet-friendly. The courtyard rooms have an enclosed little garden and would be perfect for pets to be brought along as well. 3. The bathroom did not have a wash basin or a mirror.

I stayed at the Lone Pine to use the pool and the beach. They did not disappoint me! I was able to do my daily swim and sun and relax, with no hassles. I also really like the rooms with balcony and sea view. The design of the rooms is clever, with sliding doors giving privacy. Unusual! Lone Pine is a boutique hotel, and I like the size and ambience so much better than a roaring huge resort hotel.

Well, there is construction and that is annoying, but it was explained to me in advance. I imagine it was quite grand in its day, and I hope the hotel is returned to that standard.

Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and next to the beach. The room was amazing . Beautiful decor and very fancy bathroom planning. large room with a very large comfortable bed. I have never stayed in a hotel where the snacks are Free. The balcony was very private with a sunken tub.(unfortunately I never got round to using it). Breakfast was European and Malay. Lots of variety and choice. Just outside there is a variety of eateries and lots of street food. Also round the corner there is a night market on the street. Many massage palaces in the area. This hotel is the perfect location. Will definitely come here again

The scenery. The building and the trees. The room is very comfortable and big. The most unique is the bath tub at the balcony. Nice room decorations. Nice staff at the reception and drop off area. For breakfast, Nasi lemak is good. The char kuay teow is very nice.

The breakfast is quite lousy. The bread looks like getting from giant supermarket. Hard, cold and tasteless. The sausage and ham are overcooked I think. Orange juice are not fresh juice but are those concentrated sugar drink. The room is quite dusty. The sofa at balcony are dirty with stains on cushions. The bath tub water tap tiles are broken. The main door and door jamb are not tight and the gap are too wide when closed, resulted outside corridor noise and people talking can be heard very clearly. Soundproofing very poor.
