Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Excellent and convenient location next to the train station and bus station where day and night buses arrive. At the vending machine at Hoofddorp train station, you can buy an Amsterdam Region travel ticket and top up with OV chipkaat. The hotel has excellent breakfasts and a vegetarian menu. The room is clean and modern, very comfortable bed. From the Hoofddorp station it is convenient to travel around the suburbs of Amsterdam and to other cities. Amsterdam is 20 minutes away by train.

There is no way to open windows in the rooms, fresh air comes only through the ventilation system.

Auto parking also uncomfortable because of i had no credit card of Netherlands. I should habe to park my car another parking lot and at least 1 km for a round trip. Thank you for a forced work out. The crew of breakfast area was terrible. Very unkind and just stared at us. Another table was setting and i asked my table to set up. And waitress said that i habe to do myself. What? Im a guest. I was treated like a Student. Ok working in the early in the morning is hard but it’s your job. These guys must be better educated. I was so so upset like throw it all away all i ate. Never kind! Because of im a asian? I don’t wanna go back this hotel again! Never. Ever.

The hotel has a very nice dining area. You can sit inside or outside and the restaurant was open until about 10pm. The "full breakfast buffet" had a large variety of foods. The food was very good and staff was friendly and helpful. It took me only 45 minutes to get on the train very near the hotel and complete the international check in process at AMS airport, because the train takes you right to the center of the airport. It was so easy. I downloaded the Schiphol Airport app to help me locate my gate because the airport is big and it also told me when to board the plane. The only recommendation I have is to buy your train ticket before walking to the train because the only ticket available was the 21.00 day pass. You can buy a 4.20 ticket to the airport instead online. It was about a 4 minute train ride to the airport. Also the hotel has beautiful sitting areas for large or small groups to just hang out and socialize.

The dining area appeared short staffed at 10pm and was still pretty busy with hotel guest eating late, so the service was slow. I didn't have my family with me but the only thing I would recommend for this beautiful property would be a pool or water feature for cooling off in this hot summer weather.

food is very limited for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and no variety from day to day their toilet papers are basically sandpapers - I bet noone from management ever tried them water pressure is very low - water is more dripping than flowing, which makes showering or even filling up a bottle take ages they advertise breakfast for €17 but in reality it is 22-24 (apparently depends who you book it with lol) staff is very to the point and borderline rude, but generally helpful

Great location if wanting to stay near airport as it’s only a few minutes walk from Hoofdorp train station. From there it’s 4 mins on train directly to airport or around 25 mins to Amsterdam Central. Hotel itself seemed nice, modern, and pretty new. Had a cool bar, restaurant and lounging area. It was quiet and we didn’t hear any noise from other guests or planes flying nearby. The temp control worked well in room. Not too hot, not too cold, it was just right.

The room was pretty dirty and that level of uncleanliness surprised us after seeing the lovely check-in and lobby area. Carpets and cushions had stains and you could see/feel grit on the carpet throughout the room. The doors to the bathroom are kind of strange and awkward. Seemed like a looks over function kind of thing but maybe is more of a personal preference than anything.

The staff was very welcoming at the reception as well as in the restaurant. The confort in the suite really meets our expectations as we was with our 2 children. Nice facility

The digital key allow you to open the room door but you cannot switch the lights on. You still have to collect the keys at the reception. It will be better if you can enjoy the room directly without passing at the reception as sometimes the queue is too long. One you’re checked in and have your room number, you should normally go to the room and also have lights on.

I liked the space and design of the room. The shower was amazing, because it had a rainshower en handshower with a very good waterpressure. The view over Schiphol was a bonus. A big plus was a random free parking spot around the corner. The staff was so friendly l, they even brought us a new watercooker when we mentions ours didn't work. Room had also a coffeemachine (with coffecups) and a small fridge. The upgrade to a room with a view over Schiphol was the best choice. We didn't try the breakfast buffet, but it looked good. The hall when you enter is enormous and very well designed.

The pillows were so bad, we didn't sleep well. It was a pirry, because the bed in general was so good. I gues a it would be wise to have a look at the pillows. They need to be way more firm and not giving headaches. I also didn't like the location, but this is something you know before you book.

Note there are many ways of buying public transport tickets in the NL, some of which are more involved than others. At both the airport and Hoofdorp stations (near the hotel), it is still possible to buy conventional paper tickets at a modest surcharge from a conventional vending machine that even accepts cash euros.

The hotel has a convenient location, quite close to the airport and not that far from the city centre (about 30min by train). The staff was polite and helpful, the room was clean and quiet. We had breakfast there twice and the food was decent and had enough variety.

We had a twin room and the beds were fairly narrow. I'm by no means a tall person (particularly compared to the Dutch) and turning around was a task. I was expecting the beds to be closer to 100cm wide and they felt more like 80 ish cm.

The staff were so friendly to my little girl, they are great with kids. The lobby is huge with lots of places to sit quietly or have fun. The room bright and clean. Easy to reach by bus or train from the airport, just a short trip and the transport arrives every few minutes, night and day, seven days a week. Nice lakes and woods to walk around, and 15 min walk to the town with new shopping mall.
