Hotel Helios Costa Tropical

The quality and variety of the buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner was impressive. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful, quiet area. Free parking right outside the hotel. Our room was on the 9th floor with great views, and we enjoyed our big balcony with sunbeds.

The pool area was small and crowded. It was allowed to reserve sun beds with your towel, which we didn't like. Some people did this for hours while they were having lunch, going for a walk etc. The 10th floor bar opened on our last night, and we were very happy about it having been closed all the other nights, because we could hear the music in our room and people talking in the hallway until 2 am.

where to even begin, the staff were absolutely phenomenal, super friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. im so happy i opted for the half board because the dinner was superb with the best paella i had in Spain so far and great variety of food, i usually have limited options because i dont eat pork or eggs, but with their variety of food that was no problem at all. i loved the option of swimming in the pool and beach because the water at the beach was freezing. there is also a wellness spa at the 10th floor that had good massages for great prices as well as a souvenir shop next to the hotel that was very reasonable priced compared to the rest called lidia . overall, i will 100% be coming back and including dinner

i wish breakfast time was until 11 instead of 10 to give me more time to sleep

The staff and it's a very nice hotel and for a 3 star it's really superb.

Night time music entertainment a bit disappointing.

We loved our stay! We had a beautiful room with an amazing view. All the staff were extremely friendly and very happy to help out in any way possible. We reserved with half-board and the food was excellent. A special thank you to Alba (hostess) and Juan (cook) who went our of there way to make us happy. Almunecar is very quiet and not crowded which was perfect for us as we wanted to rest and relax. I highly definitely recommend this hotel.

The music/entertainment in the bar catered to the elderly. In fact, we were surprised at the number of elderly people at the hotel. This isn't really a negative point because everyone was kind and respectful (we were just surprised!). It has an effect on the hotel atmosphere in general.

Incredibly bright and clean room, with a fabulous balcony and sea view. Bottle of cava and plate of macarons welcome very nice touch. Great shower and very comfortable bed. Super friendly and helpful staff.

For the price I think breakfast should have been included, or offered at a bigger discount. €15 each was far too much. At €7-10 we would have thought about it. Also, the elevators require replacement. Finally, in a room our size, for two people, a second armchair would have been nice.

We booked a superior room, it was very spacious, beautiful decor, the bed was very comfortable, only downside the bathroom was a little on the small side. The staff were so friendly, and eager to please. The food was excellent, good choices available. Entertainment and bar areas comfortable and spacious. The Hotel is on the sea front in a perfect position, in a quiet area, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful quaint old town. Visiting the Castle and the Church is a definite recommendation. This Hotel is a wonderful Hotel for older couples, who would like a quiet relaxing holiday, the outdoor facilities are not suitable for young children, they are not catered for.

The seating in the dining room was a little tight many tables we reserved for a tourist company and not fully occupied. The evening meal time, we thought could be planned a little earlier, 7.45pm is too late.

A nice bigger hotel with great and helpful staff. I stayed 4 nights and appreciated the lovely touch in a form of a bottle of champaign and a welcome note from the head of operations. The position is great, I crossed the road and was on the beach. I had a room with a seaview and enjoyed it very much. The room was furnished in quite nicely but simply and the bed was very comfortable - I slept really well. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent - wide choice of yummies, beautifully presented and served by lovely smiling waiters and waitresses. I highly recommend.

The hotel fulfilled my needs and expectations and I would highly recommend it - but would like to mention this: the only really silly things are bright night lights on the balcony. If you like to sit on your balcony and enjoy the night sights and sounds of the sea in the cosy pensive semi-dark atmosphere of your balcony, you are in for a disappointment. As soon as it gets dark enough, the lights on all balconies are turned on almost blidingly bright. And you cannot switch it off individually - I wonder whose idea was that? The street below is lit enough. One might say it looks nice from outside, for the show - Hotel Helios shining bright into the night - however, in this one point it does not feel like the hotel caters/cares for the clients.

The hotel is located on the sea front and is only a 15 minute walk to the old town. There are restaurants and bars close by. We were able to park right outside the hotel in free public parking. The receptionist, Gabriella, made us feel very welcome and gave us excellent service. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. There was a lot of choice at breakfast with hot and cold food as well as an omelette/pancake station. The view from the rooftop bar was amazing. The pool area looked very nice and sheltered. We will definitely stay here again.

A kettle in our room for making tea/coffee first thing in the morning would be good. We didn’t watch tv but it was rather small .

We liked everything about the hotel the staff were all very helpful and friendly 👌 the food was excellent the location was excellent the room was kept spotlessly clean so really what else could anyone want. From the first moment on arrival at the hotel we were greeted by Gabi and Masiala and had everything explained to us about the hotel in a lovely manner in the room on arrival there was a welcoming drink and snack also my wife had her Birthday whilst there they even put a bottle of bubbly and some cakes in our room on the day a great gesture, the entertainment was good in the evening and we were entertained at meal times watching a girl called Alba work she does the work of four we were both fascinated watching her performing she really is a very hard working 💪 girl and fun to watch.

Really there was nothing we didn't like we had a wonderful time at the hotel . Oh there was something we didn't like that was handing our cards back on departure we were upset to leave so thank you Gabrielle and all the Staff for the wonderful time we had at your hotel hopefully we will return.

All the staff were super helpful and very polite. Lovely big beds which were super comfy. Good selection for breakfast

It could have been a bit quieter and darker, the room I had was one of the cheaper options which only had the one door out onto the corridor, I am not sure if the more expensive rooms have the double door with a vestibule which would have mitigated the noise and light coming into the room. The door didn't seem to fit snuggly into the door frame so it left a small gap which let in the noise and light. Perhaps the lights in the corridor could have been dimmed after a certain time at night.
