Hotel Tayko Bilbao

Great location for exploring the city on foot, nestled on the edge of the old town next to the river, with easy walking access to the mercado to sample an array or tapas, the main shopping areas on the other river bank and the Guggenheim which is a brisk 30 minute walk away. As a side note the room was equipped with one of the best showers I’ve ever had!

Not a great location if arriving by car. Nowhere to safely pull up to offload bags (we incurred a warning from the police as they passed us after eventually pulling up on the pavement outside the hotel), and the public parking we used was a 500m uphill walk away which wasn’t great in the rain.

Great hotel combining modern industrial chick with the historic building. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There were always two people at the reception. The cleaning of the rooms was excellent. The direct and indirect light in the room and the bathroom was really good and made the room nice and full of atmosphere. The breakfast was very good and the dinner in La Bodega de Ola was really amazing.

The bar in La Bodega de Ola was not opened all day to sit down and to get something to drink or a small snack. The furniture in the room especially chair, desk and small tables seems to be not really high quality which makes the industrial chick appearance of the room a little bit cheap. The drain valve in the wash bowl was not properly fitting.

Polite and helpful reception staff, clean room, generous air-conditioning, nice shower and toiletries, excellent location.

Everyone at the reception was excellent; professional and welcoming with good knowledge of English. The situation was somewhat different at the bar. The room was comfortable, with a bottle of water, some chocolate and a handwritten personalised note waiting for us. This was a very nice touch that we appreciated!! The room was also very clean. Nice bathroom with beautiful shower and high quality toiletries. The atmosphere of the hotel is modern industrial but still welcoming. I find the room's price somewhat high, but I'd say that Bilbao is generally on the expensive side both for accommodation and food.

The Tayko is a stylish new hotel, combining stele and concrete with traditional material, in a beautiful old building. Ir is located on the edge of the old town, directly outside Las 7 Calles. Our room was spacious and clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom great. The door closes out any noise from the hotel. Check-in was easy and we could use the room already around 11h. The reception team was great, friendly, full of humor and very helpful as regards what to do and where to go.

Our room was overlooking a small old town walkway. in summer, when all tavernas are open, there might be some late night noise, depending when the tavernas close. That’s the price you pay for being in such a (great) location. When we stayed it was still to cools and wet for outside seating, so no problem. The price is on the high side, but then you are in Bilbao, where prices are higher anyway.

The reception staff and cleaners were great - could not have been more friendly, helpful and professional. The brutaliat decor also suited our taste. We thought that the breakfast portions were meagre, especially so considering the €25 cost pp. The waitresses were most explicit on the choice being ONE of each of the following... ONE - Orange juice or detox juice ONE - small fruit bowl one type of fruit only One - muffin or croissant ONE - cooked dish Coffee - we assumed was only one cup per person on the first day, but it was explained by the waitress on day 2, you can have up to 3 coffees. We spent 14 days travelling across Northern Spain. Although the food here (breakfast and dinner) was ok, it did not feel good value for money, especially when compared to all the other experiences we had on our trip.

See above... Also parking is 600m away in a public station car park, which is €26; per day or part thereof.

Hotel Tayko Bilbao exceeded all my expectations during my one-night stay. The exceptional service and attention to detail truly stood out. The staff was not only professional but also incredibly friendly, making me feel right at home. The hotel's location is unbeatable, nestled in the heart of Bilbao's vibrant downtown area. I was able to explore the city's cultural and culinary delights with ease, thanks to its proximity to major attractions and restaurants. The Guggenheim Museum, Casco Viejo, and the beautiful riverside promenade were all just a short stroll away.

The hotel is very nice, special and in a very good location (In the side of the Old City) The service of all hotel staff was very very good and helpfully.

The hotel is trying to serve a special breakfast but it was not working for us because the service was not good due to higher number of people in time of breakfast and not enough staff to serve us, this was really pity (maybe it's always good but only in time when were there it was like this…who knows ? ) The One Michelin Start restaurant in the hotel does not deserve the one Michelin star. Very very very bad service for what you can expect for this kind of restaurant (and we can make the comparison !). It was a big disappointment!

Loved the history and design of the hotel. The staff at concierge were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Location was perfect and the room was spacious and clean. Comfortable beds and quiet location.

Came back from a day out and room had not been cleaned, this was done after asking concierge. Staff not as helpful in the restaurant, walked in and told abruptly the restaurant was closed, which was fine but would be good if offered some basic snacks when drinking at the bar. Room lighting is generally dark, despite plenty of lights?

After an 11-hour drive with my 2-month-old daughter and dog, we were a little stressed on arrival. Jared from reception kindly met us in the car park to help with the luggage, which was greatly appreciated. We had concerns about the security of the carpark as we had a large bag on the roof of our car, but was very pleased with the level of security on arrival and had no worries for the safety of our belongings. Saria who I was liasing with through email, was quick and efficient on her responses and all queries answered, she also helped in recommending a wonderful Chinese on our stay. Dog bed and cot were both in the room on our arrival, room was clean and very comfortable, with a great shower! Location fantastic, could easily walk around safely with our daughter and dog, will definitely be back on our return journey.

The property is in walking distance to everything, but is still quiet on a night. The room was very comfortable with a great bed as well as the shower was amazing. Staff very helpful whatever your needs. Free drink in the bar was a nice touch.

My only gripe about the property is the lack of proper coffee facilities in the room. There is a kettle but Nescafé in a sachet is not really good enough. Coffee bags or a Nespresso machine please. Would recommend taking coffee bags with you for a decent morning coffee while you ready yourself for a day in Bilbao.
