Parador de Calahorra

We are two cyclists on a ride from Cadiz to San Sebastian. Our needs are simple we seek a clean bed and a hot shower – the hotel provided both Reception was welcoming and helpful – We select the Parador chain for a touch of luxury and enjoy the lavish and expert restoration of historical buildings across Spain - we are less fans of the modern new build hotels However the Hotel Hospitality is most welcome. ( Bar and Breakfast )

The Gardens and lay out is very Urban - we had expected more green areas around the hotel

Beautiful old hotel with many old artefacts on display. Huge room with two comfortable twin beds pushed together. Huge bathroom with bath and double washbasins. Breakfast lovely and they cook you fresh bacon, eggs and omelettes on demand. All the staff lovely and spoke really good English.

The car park was not big enough for everyone if the hotel is full. So we were worried after a day trip that we would not be able to park on our return. Fortunately there were two spaces left, but but they were soon filled. This was on a Saturday when a party was also going on at the hotel, so it might be better on other days.

Great Hotel right in the center of Calahorra. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The Parador restaurant is also delicious, with great local ingredients and dishes as well as typical Spanish ones too.

The parking lot got quite full during some parts of our stay. It might be nice if they upgrade their system to ensure that only hotel and restaurant guests park there. In theory, this is how the system works, but in practice it might not be the case.

room space ,beds and furniture as well as bath room. all very spacious. breakfast was awesome.

we wanted to enjoy dinner in the hotel’s restaurant since booking.com showed €32/person for lunch respectively dinner! the maitre of the restaurant as well as the reception told us this was not possible and dinner could only be ordered as per menu card. so we paid full “tariff” for the dinner which was of course higher than the indicated price in the booking via booking.com. this was annoying,

The Parador is well positioned, just a short drive off the Autopista (approx 5 min) and in the middle of the town. It's therefore possible to easily walk no more than 50 metres to find lots of restaurants. You don't actually have to do that though as their restaurant is first class. All the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable plus the rooms and public areas are immaculately clean. Loved staying here and look forward to returning at some point in the near future.

A very minor point and not something in their control but the parking is limited for the number of rooms. However there is alternative parking close by. The Parador do give you notice of this.

We chose location because we were on route to ferry in Bilbao. Breakfast was lovely, had egg and bacon freshly cooked . Great choice of breakfast food and very clean and well managed restaurant.

Everything was great , we only spent one night but would chose this hotel again. It was recommended to us by family who had previously stayed a few times.

Lovely, helpful staff, particularly at reception. Beautiful interiors to the hotel itself; generous and appropriately furnished rooms. Breakfast was great. Car parking was easy in May.

Calahorra isn't the most attractive place in Spain but the hotel's location was perfect for us for the one night, just off the motorway and easy to find.

Breakfast was very good, although I would have preferred to have a cooked egg as an option. All members of the staff were really keen to help us for whatever we required. The reception was brilliant on both our arrival and departure.

We could find nothing to fault. Everything was perfect. I would rate this Parador as one the best we have ever stayed in. My only comment was that we had to park a long way away from the Parador. This, with a fully loaded car is risky, and not something I would choose to do. At times when the occupancy is known to be high, would it not be possible to provide extra parking facilities?

Location and easy parking just off the motorway. Nice paradore with the usual high quality of service. Local restraunts and bars nearby. Cathedral about 15 mins walk away.

Setting in centre of town with supermarket nearby was great for us but might not feel like a 'paradore' location to others?

The hotel facilities, evening meal & breakfast were excellent. A very comfortable room and hotel to stay in.

The town offered little of interest as a tourist, with little history. After a long day driving, we had hoped for a stroll in a typical older Spanish town but the town is quite modern.
