Barceló Carmen Granada

This recently renovated hotel has an excellent location, right in the middle of the city's main commercial hub, and within easy walking distance to the convention centre. It is also possible to walk to the University buildings but the walk is a bit longer (20+ minutes). It offers parking on site, with a valet service to bring your car our when you need it. There is a nice rooftop with a small pool, a bar, and a basic fitness centre (2 treadmills, one bike, one elliptical, and some weights). At night the rooftop becomes a bar and restaurant, but reservations are a must since it is always full. Air conditioning is great in the rooms, and the shower and bathroom (combined) has new appliances; the showers are strong and the water warms quickly. There is a small bar fridge in the room, and a coffee machine. The staff are always helpful. I had the breakfast included, and it was the best decision. The breakfast buffet is delicious and very comprehensive, and there is also a cook on site to prepare omelettes, eggs, pancakes, or other types of hot food. The soundproofing is excellent, and good thing too, because it is located in a busy street (you get a feeling for how noisy, when you open the door to the balcony). The bed is comfortable, and when asked the staff provided extra pillows. There are sufficient power plugs for all your electronic devices. The safe in the room is easy to operate. Overall, excellent and I would return to it without hesitation.

A common issue with old European cities, so not really the hotel's fault - depending on where you are coming from, to reach the hotel by car you need to navigate some very, very narrow streets with bollards on both sides. This can be nerve wrecking so not recommended for less experienced drivers. Just keep this in mind. The only thing that was less than optimal was the the coffee machine in our room was hard to operate...I gave up after a few attempts. Perhaps leaving a set of instructions in the room would be advisable.

The hotel is very nice, modern, and very clean. All really good quality. Staff is very helpful and friendly, the location is perfect, short walking distance from historic city centre and with bus stop and taxi stop few steps from the hotel. I would totally stay at this hotel again if I happen to be in Granada in the future.

Nothing really. At check-in it was very busy and they gave me the wrong room, but then changed it promptly and it was quickly resolved. But such things can happen and the staff was very helpful and resolved it quickly.

We really appreciate that the hotel staff placed us away from the elevators and stairs to maximize our quiet time. We stayed at this hotel because it is convenient to our bus home and we needed to spend the night in Granada after attending a late night festival. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and we both slept better than we do at home! I particularly appreciate that the staff member that checked us in and checked us out spoke in Spanish to me, respecting my desire to be able to communicate in Spanish as we are residents. We have had experiences in other locations where the staff immediately spoke in English without considering our preferences. This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way and we'd love to stay again when we come into town for a night out! Thank you.

There could be a little more sound proofing in the rooms as we could hear our neighbors at times. However, this did not cause us any significant difficulty.

Location fantastic. Staff very friendly. Ultra modern bathrooms and excellent decor throughout hotel. Roof top bar great with amazing views to the Alhambra. In many ways more 5* than 4*. Staff resolve any issues very quickly.

I agree with other reviews - whilst I would stay here again, the swimming pool is more of a plunge pool. The hotel refurbishment is still a work in progress and building works start shortly after 8am. Breakfast could be improved - no fresh coffee or yoghurt despite there being a lovely array of other food.

the pool is located on the terrace where people from outside of the hotel are also welcome, which puts you a little bit on display, on the bright side, the sun terrace is on a higher level apart from the views of the people enjoying a drink on the terrace , not really a downside, more like a heads up

Excellent hotel with very good facilities. Breakfast was very good with a large choice. The location was ideal to visit the Alhambra, the Albaicin, the cathedral and shops and restaurants.

Obviously, being on the main road there is traffic noise which would be better if you request a room at the rear of the hotel. However, this did not affect our stay.

Staff in reception were great, rooftop terrace is excellent. Breakfast is extensive and good quality Appreciated the valet service. Room rate was reasonable

the hotel has been closed for renovations and the outcome was spectacular. The new decor was amazing The new reception and The new bar as you enter the hotel was just what you needed after a day out in granada, Staff very helpful and friendly The hotel location is always a winner for me as so central for everything

Someone left the water running upstairs and unfortunately water was gushing through the bathroom ceiling into our room. There was also construction noise that started in the early morning which woke me up.
