NH Madrid Balboa

The hotel is in a very nice part of Madrid. It is not on a main road so is relatively quiet. Three blocks away from the nearest Metro station. Good places to eat fairly close by.

Room was close to the lift, so a bit of noise from it. The restaurant is excellent but open to the public at lunchtime and in the evening, so very busy. The coffee machine made ten types of coffee but not ordinary decaf americano.

The location is great. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe here. I wanted a quiet room and they really delivered. Had a really great, super-calm stay overall - the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful too. The check-in and check-out process was quick and smooth. The first day I couldn't work out the a/c controls and asked for help. The housekeeping staff set-up the controls at my preferred setting and I didn't have to bother with it for the rest of my stay.

The room did not have coffee or tea making facilities; at least an electric kettle would have been appreciated as I had a bad throat and wanted to nurse it with some warm water regularly. I am vegetarian, and the non-meat option for an evening meal through room service is severely limited.

The price was great including buffet breakfast (we stayed 3 nights from September 1 - 4). We have 4 rooms (2 rooms with king bed and 2 rooms with 2 single beds). All the rooms are facing to residential apartments which is good (quiet at night no noise from the street). Buffet breakfast is good with a variety of choices, however, the breakfast hours is opening late from 8 AM to 11:30 AM (it should be 6 AM to 10 AM). We had a train to catch at 7:30 AM so we could not have breakfast on that day. Room is comfortable with single bed or double beds. Everything is small (from shower, room, etc.) compared to the United States hotels rooms for the 4-star hotel, but it has everything that we need. Some staff members speak English fluently and some don't but they are very nice and helpful. There are several restaurants nearby but the waiters don't speak English so we used our Google phone translation. We ate at the hotel restaurant once for dinner and it was very good (3-course meal) for 3 people with the price EUR $69. The taxi from the airport to the hotel is $30 EUR one-way for 6 passengers including bags (17 minutes ride) and we think it is cheap. There is a supermarket next the hotel (less than 1 block of walking) which is very convenient for us to buy water, fruits, and other stuff. One thing we like is that they provide cold fresh lemon or orange juice throughout the day at the lobby.

The hotel location is far from the city center. You need to take metro/subway with about 4 to 5 stops to the city center ($8.50 Euro for 1 day pass). It is roughly 4 blocks of walking from the hotel to the metro station (it's very safe walking at night though). We stayed at other 4-star hotels and they always have the electric kettle to boil the water or drink coffee. This hotel does not have that; however, you can borrow them at the front desk. Same as for the iron/iron board, you need to borrow them at the front desk.

A modern hotel close to the heart of Madrid. The staff are friendly and helpful and the receptionist staff have a good understanding of English. I had a single room with a terrace, a well-equipped shower and toilet, a good size wardrobe with a safe, a small refrigerator and a television. The self-serve breakfast is good and in the evening, from about 20:00, the restaurant serves meals. Metro stations are about 10 minutes walk.

Location excellent. Rooms quite big.

at check in I requested late check out which was granted without conditions having been indicated. Reconfirmed late check out day before and was told then that there was an additional amount to be paid. After I explained what happened, this request for an additional amount was dropped. The mess should have been avoided at check in. It would be great if rooms had coffee/tea machine

The property very nice installations seems recently remodeled. The location is wonderful walking distance to key areas of the barrio of salamanca including the shopping area.

Guest were not prioritized in the hotel restaurant. We were unable to get a table. Staff communicated we had to have a reservation that we were unable to obtain.

We chose a location in Salamanca with easy access to popular streets for shopping and restaurants. The location was ideal for us. We were able to walk and travel around Madrid on foot. The room was fine and the staff @NH Balboa were friendly and helpful and also professional. We chose to breakfast in different locations in Madrid but would recommend Saona restaurant in the hotel which we had lunch.

Ideal forr my business trip. The room had a large work area. I was given an intern room which was quiet but which also had natural light. The room was clean and modern with everything I expect such as power outlets near the bed, reading lamps, good quality toiletries . Breakfast buffet excellent quality. Near to good restaurants and accessible by Metro and bus. Staff very helpful and considerate

Nothing major to criticise

All of the staff members we interacted with were very helpful and pleasant! The breakfast was excellent, so many choices! And the room was very comfortable and clean. There was a Santander ATM about a block away. We really liked our stay at the Balboa. We didn't walk in the neighborhood but it looks nice. And Iberia @ terminal 4 at Barajas airport is about a 15- 20 minute taxi drive at 6:30 am. Air France about 10 minutes farther.
