Comfortable clean bed and bedroom. It was missing a fridge but they put one on straight away when I mentioned it which was great. Air conditioner worked well.

No glasses for drinking water. There was only one toilet and one shower shared amongst all rooms on the floor. I knew it was shared but was surprised there was only the one allocated to so many rooms. Wall ledge in shower was very dirty. Lots of dead insects etc. This was the only place to put toiletries apart from the floor. Patrons from next door were smoking outside their room. This drifted into my room through the closed door/window. Need some no smoking signs up to remind people not to.

I have stayed at the Royal Hotel before and loved it but this time all the ensuite rooms were full and with nothing else in town I booked a single room with a shared bathroom. The room is very simple but nicely furnished. There are male and female bathrooms which have been beautifully renovated recently so no worries there and Leif toiletries, hello! The pub downstairs has fabulous meals and friendly staff. Be great if they did weekday breakfast as you won't find a bowl of granola anywhere else in town....

The room needed a towel rail as I stayed two nights and there was nothing to drape my towel over to dry. Was worried about not having tea/coffee facilities but with the pub downstairs it was not an issue.

The location was great. Big room. Quality fittings

There were dirty nappies left in the bin in the room. The toilet seat was broken. I don't think the carpet had been vacummed, and the shower needed a good clean. The benches were dirty. The counter meal offered was sub standard and slow. We had to ask where the meal was and we were not offered another drink.

We found the Royal Hotel a fabulous play for a stopover. We stayed in the King Suite which was large and comfortable. The bed and linen are good quality and made for a great nights rest. We liked the large bathroom which is modern and well set out. We had both lunch and dinner at the Royal which was outstanding in both taste and service. The staff are excellent and we enjoyed their relaxed and friendly welcoming. This was an excellent choice and we highly recommend.

Dinner at the pub was very good.

The only negative was the noise from the karaoke. The music was loud but the singing was much worse - so bad that we could not hear the TV. Fortunately all quiet from 11pm - not great if you wanted to get an early night after driving all day.

The Deluxe Queen Suite room was spacious, with ornate high ceilings, large double sash windows and a door to the inner balcony. Comfy bed, stylish furnishings, large bathroom, all requirements met.

The table on the inner balcony just outside our window was used by other guests as a smoking area.

Country pub ambience, central location, high ceilings, staff hospitality 🙂

Noise from other guests unfortunately. Hall light from skylight above bedroom door shone directly into eyes when trying to sleep...(perhaps cover that glass or change bed position?)

We stayed in the Queen Suite with ensuite. It was beautifully renovated, very clean and private.

The light in the hall right outside the window above the door was on all night, which shone right on the bed.

Beautiful town, friendly people

Tried first to book Country Lodge motel where we stayed before. Under new management, very unfriendly, suggest booking.com wipes them off their books.

for the queen room I’d recommend covering up the little window above the door, as light came through from the hallway all night :)
