The Settlement Historic Hotel

Easy to find. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment that was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The balcony overlooked a park - a pleasant view. Room service was available. The food was very tasty, delivered promptly and reasonably priced. Parking was free and easy.

This was completely out of the control of the venue but something to consider when choosing a room. Our room 302 (?), located at the back, was near a neighbour with a car sporting a noisy muffler! He was very impressed with it, and for the two nights we were there he zoomed, proudly and loudly, up and down the otherwise quiet road. With any luck the novelty will wear off and the room and view will be undisturbed for future visitors.

A friendly staff member was on hand to welcome me when I checked in. The room was clean, aircon excellent given the humid conditions on the days I stayed in Echuca, the bed was comfortable, lots of hot water and parking just out side my room. The Settlement is in an excellent location walking distant to the historic port and the wonderful shops in High St. A very good price given it was the height of the tourist season.

The wind mill at the front of the hotel could be very noisy especially at night when trying to sleep.

Can tell many / all units were occupied, so makes it less scary for city folks like us knowing there are people nearby. Spacious, clean, comfortable, cosy. Spacious enough for family and relative in 2 other units to gather (total 4 pax) in one room to have bonding time over pre-bedtime coffee and catch-up.

Hot water in the shower was very hard to control. No matter how we balanced it, it was always too hot or too cold. Family in other room experienced the same thing. Wifi is really bad. As good as nil.

Location was good, friendly staff, bed comfortable, room had all facilities, did not need to ask for iron or anything, not to far to walk to and from town, and reasonably quiet. Aircon/heater worked great and much appreciated due to hot/cold changeable weather

No hot water in taps or shower first night, informed reception next morning and it was fixed shortly after lunch, due to recent storms, unavoidable and uninternational. Lamp shade missing over bed, one bedside light not working and florescent light below TV not working.

Location of the Settlement was perfect and within a short distance to the historic parts of the riverside township of Echuca. Was welcomed by reception staff who was happy to provide a rundown on things to do in the area. The weather was great for our river cruise on the Murray and a nice lunch at a local winery

As our accommodation at the Settlement was better than we expected we have now complaints whatsoever.

The room was very clean and there was a designated parking spot in front of the room. There was a kettle, microwave, fridge and cutlery if you wanted to have food on the room. It has many nice restaurants and cafes within a 10min walk and the Historical Port of Echuca was a 20min walk away. They also helped us when we locked ourselves out of the room.

A very minor thing was that the pillows were a bit thin.

Our room was set upstairs and at the back of the property. We had no road noise. Our room was spotless. The personal touch of fresh milk in a bottle instead of long life was perfect and appreciated.

There isn't anything we didn't like. The carpet in our room was worn out due to window fade in one tiny patch. This was nothing serious or in our way. We simply sat our bags there.

Good central location. Good room, reasonable size. Amenities very good, better than expected. Comfortable, the bed in particular, but the pillows too hard for me. Reasonably priced. Impressed that it was pet friendly and you can get Seniors discount.

Would prefer a choice of one soft, one hard pillow. Smokers directly outside room, so when we opened the door it blew inside.

The room was very clean. whenever we needed something or had an issue , they were able to help and sort out straight away The carparks have to be a bit more in control as people park in others car parks.

Room and bed were comfortable. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Parking was convenient. Location of the motel was also great

Decor is dated, we had a tri-panel shower door but the panels were separated so you had to pull each one across individually. Plumbers arrived at 8am and starting drilling, hammering immediately outside our door. Being on holidays we were sleeping in and certainly didn't expect to wake up to the racket they made. Had the motel manager advised us a day or two earlier, we would have adjusted our plans for that day so it didn't impact us (I did try to give this feedback in person at checkout but no one was around). Leaving a letter under our door would have been appreciated (or at least have the plumbers come after 10am (post normal check out time, so as not to interfere with the guests who are on vacation).
