River Ridge Lodge

We chose this B&B specifically for its location in the countryside just outside quaint Mahone Bay and a short drive to beautiful UNESCO Lunenberg. We had a wonderful spacious room and bathroom with all the required amenities and facilities.The mattress pillows and bed linen importantly were of quality We were impressed that we were able to check in on line and even place our breakfast requests - well done this is a first for us. Fauke was very accommodating when we informed her VIA Rail Canada 'The Ocean' from Quebec City to Halifax was over fours late and we would not arrive until just before midnight and gave us instructions on our to enter our room at such a late time.That is service beyond the call of duty The breakfasts were great - fruits muesli yoghurt cheese and sourdough bread We would have preferred to stay three rather than two nights but Fauke was already fully booked ahead

Breakfast was traditional German and the host told us a lot about local places to visit and had great trail maps! The bed was comfortable and once settled in we were 'at home'. They lent us bikes and equipment and it was super. Very nice area to explore by bike.

Check in had to be very specified. It could have been better to have a self' check in ' experience rather than trying to know details of timing or how much toast we might eat. It would have been nice to have access to drinks at home or a bathtub.

Frauke and her husband are super friendly hosts. She provided us with lots of information about the area, she has ideas for day trips prepared and printed out and offered all kinds of help so we would have a pleasant stay. Our room, which obviously was the largest, was spacious and well equipped. It’s the perfect place to stay and discover the Lunenburg area

The accommodation was STUNNING. Beautiful, spacious and in a lovely location. The owners went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable! Such a cheerful and kind pair! Their “welcomer” Charlie was a HUGE added bonus!! We spent the first night planning when we would come back haha!

Beautiful! Comfortable, welcoming. The hosts are so kind and caring. I felt like I was at the home of a relative. I can’t wait to come here again.

We enjoyed the quietness of River Ridge Lodge's lovely location. It was close to many attractions, shops and good restaurants. Could not ask for a nicer hostess - she made sure we were comfortable and that we felt at home.

The hosts were very helpful with suggestions regarding hiking trails, eating places etc. They even lent me one of their bikes! The breakfast was a German style meal that lasted us until dinner, very tasty and filling. They even brought up coffee and tea before breakfast, we felt pampered.

A lovely property with charming host. This stop was the highlight of our trip and it’s so well located for active guests (biking/hiking/kayaking/sailing), touring guests(near so much) and an ideal spot for those who want to relax and restore.

Was not as close to Mahone Bay as we thought it would be.

It’s a stunning property right across the river. Just minutes from the main road. made me want to buy a house there.
