Comfortable bed, nice hot water, cozy wood stove in the room to burn a fire at night, lovely grounds and lodge, very clean, helpful and courteous staff, multi generational family business, founding father’s artwork of natural elements so creative, whimsical and touching. Walking distance to community of Canaan. Short drive to Chirripo and Cloudbridge. Quiet, natural setting. Loved our time there.

Great location, with mountain views. Alpine feel to the decor with lots of wood and nice pool area. Makes a change to sleep without the need for a fan in the cooler mountain air. Property has solar hot water system - good but better after the sun has been up for a couple of hours. Good but steep and rough walk around the forest above the hotel.

The walls were quite thin between rooms in the main building, but the hotel asks customers for quiet after 9pm so not too intrusive.

Everything was well cared for and spotless!! The staff were delightful,! We enjoyed every minute ! We enjoyed the stunning views, all the flowers and especially all the birds and butterflies!

Creamer for my morning coffee in my room. Well, that is the only thing I can come up with and I am sure if Ii had asked, they would have given me some milk to keep in the little fridge.

The staff were very helpful. able to phone from the UK and speak in English. changed my date with no extra charge. spacious bungalow with bathroom, although cold shower. enjoyed a meal in the restaurant with large log fire. stayed a night before hiking up Chirripo. told us where we could park a car at the trail start. thank you very much.

Stunning location, the grounds and pool were beautiful. There were lots of beautiful birds, toucans, motmots, parrots, and more. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and kind. The food was delicious.

We liked everything. We suggest perhaps providing bottled water for guests in the room and providing pool towels. These are minor improvements.

Beautiful remote location with lovely views of the surrounding hills. Lovely gardens with lots of birds to watch. Delicious great value food. Friendly helpful staff. Coffee machine and fridge in room.

Slippery pathways. Quite chilly at night, could have used additional blankets.

Everything was amazing here. We came in the off season and booked night before since hubby and I were traveling with no destination and exploring Costa Rica. What a gem. Staff were all wonderful and so nice. We both got great massages after a delicious breakfast. We really got more than we were expecting. Definitely will come again to enjoy!

The views of the mountains were beautiful and the wood smell of the room was so nice. The grounds were also lovely.

We arrived after midnight due to car trouble, and despite booking.com saying the reception is open 24 hours, no one was there, not even a security guard. We called and emailed many times and finally gave up and slept in our freezing car until the morning when a worker told us our keys had been in our hotel room all night. We had no idea what room was ours, let alone that they left keys for us. We were very unhappy with the beginning of this trip, but the hotel was helpful and compensated most of what we paid for the first night. After that everything with the hotel was good.

Quiet, well located in the mountains with plenty to do nearby. We enjoyed our stay here, the room was tidy and comfortable, the restaurant served good food and it was very cosy thanks to the fireplace. Lots of birds to see, and as a bonus an entire gallery of wood carvings to look at.

Solid Costa Rican food - delicious and healthy! Room was clean. Staff were excellent - very helpful and kind! Beautiful grounds and lovely pool!

It would be nice to have games in the dinning room.
