The hotel was a really nice hotel, very centrally located in Curnca, nicely decorated, very friendly and helpful staff all the way around, an excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, and quiet when it needed to be. We had a junior suite, which was extremely comfortable. Lots of room, a nice bathroom, and an upstairs sitting room right next to our room, which became our Living Room. If you’re going to stay in Cuenca, this is a perfect place to do it.
We had only one complaint. Our junior suite wasn’t ready for us, and so we agreed to take a smaller room. The room had a bad smell, and was very small. The bathroom had a window into a sort of lobby. We really didn’t like the idea of people being able to listen to us using the bathroom. We had to ask a second time to get switched back to the junior suite, because this room was not acceptable. at first, they were not going to do it, but then they did change it with no problem. It was a small blip in an otherwise perfect stay.

Traditional courtyard style rooms set in this beautifully restored colonial building. Great location in Cuenca, walking distance to all the sights. Staff is friendly and very nice breakfast included (restaurant staff was GREAT!).
Like most courtyard style colonial hotels, it’s in an older building so noise does travel and there’s some creaking and chatter that can be heard but it’s otherwise a quiet hotel. Rooms do not face the outside of the hotel so no natural light if that bothers you. Our room did not have an AC, fan or ceiling fan so we felt it got a little stuffy in there at times (I think some rooms do have a ceiling fan though).

Beautiful old hotel, very close to old city center. Breakfast was adequate--fruit with yogurt, eggs and fresh bread. The same each day.
Our room was just off reception and the only window was to the inside courtyard area so we kept the curtains mostly closed so it was a bit dark. The lock on the door was not really adequate but we didn't feel unsafe because reception was always manned and the outer door to the hotel was always locked.

Good location close to the main points of interest and the hotel is charmingly old-world, with high ceilings and timber floors. The huge sitting room outside our room is really cool.
The downside of the timber floors is that they are really squeaky so a trip to the bathroom wakes your partner. Also our room (11) is right at the front so gets a lot of noise from the street

Rooms are very comfy and cosy. The hotel is situated a couple of blocks from the main square of Cuenca in a lovely old building. In fact I had a nice piano lounge just next to my room. Staff were helpful. I thought the hotel was great value for money and I even got an extra discount on arrival!
I didn't have this issue personally, but some of the rooms were interior and were very close to reception so guests might want to ask for a room on an upper floor and bring earplugs (although the hotel was quiet at night). The floors can be a bit creaky.

Very central location to the churches, main square and restaurant. Short walk to museums and the riverwalk. Breakfast was top notch every morning. Wifi was dependable and pretty fast. Maybe 15-20 mbps on a speed test. From reading the reviews I was worried about the creaky floor noise but it didn't bother me. The rooms had lots of space to spread out, included a luggage rack and even a little wine fridge. Showers were hot and had shampoo and conditioner dispensers.

Very nice hotel, friendly and welcoming staff… enjoyed the breakfasts, helpful concierge and cleaning staff provided assistance with obtaining taxi and keeping room clean and comfortable. luxurious lobby and upper floor lounge to relax and enjoy the view outside or take some downtime. Great location to shirt walk from Tranvia, Central market, plaza with plenty of restaurants, recommendations for dinner from hotel were amazing!
Rooms are beautiful, well furnished, clean, bathroom luxurious, but walls are a bit thin and vent window from bathroom opens onto central courtyard / halleay so privacy is a bit lacking; A white-noise vent fan might fix this. Overall an enjoyable stay though

The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful, from checkin to check out! Hotel has a lovely ambiance, it’s nicely decorated. The shower was amazing!!!!
as others have mentioned it’s an older building, so expect some noise. People coming back to the hotel late at night talking loudly was very easy to hear as windows all face into the atrium, a reminder sign to keep quiet might help, but admittedly only one person did this, so we slept very well.

Dominica was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Want to give her a shout out. Dear Santa Lucia House, We saw with dismay, the news of the terrible earthquake. We enjoyed a stay at your hotel in February. Your staff, especially Domenica, were wonderful to our family. We sincerely hope that all of your people are safe and your property was not damaged.

great location for starters, few minutes from heart of old Cuenca at Plaza Calderon. But what made it for me is the staff. Just great, friendly and accommodating. Lots of English spoken so I didn’t have to break out my baby Spanish. also the breakfast is more varied than most I have encountered and very good
nothing bad to say about this place
