I have arrived in Laon somewhere at 22:00 I guess, I wasn’t even sure if I’ll get the chance to eat in the restaurant but the host was extremely kind and welcoming, made me have my dinner that was exceptional, made me feel very welcoming and even though I booked the room late and I have not booked the parking spot, he was kind enough to let me have a parking spot by arranging with another guest to move his car a bit so I can fit in. THE ROOM IS VERY COSY AND CLEAN!!! THE BATHROOM HAD A BATHTUB AND ALL THE AMENITIES I NEEDED!!! THE AREA IS VERY CENTRAL AND FROM THERE 5 MINUTES WALKING TO THE NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL!!! BREAKFAST WAS GREAT, VEVRY NOCE ARRANGE AND FELT LIKE I WAS LIVING A DAY BAXK IN THE DAYS, GOING IN THE BREAKFAST ROOM TO EMJOY MY MORNING COFFE! DUE TO THE BEAUTIFUL CITY I HAD ARRIVED LATE FOR THE CHECK OUT LIKE ONE HOUR AND HALF LATE AND THEY WERE TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE AND I HAVE NOT PAID ANY FEE FOR THAT AMD EVEN MORE, THE HOST LET ME HAD THE PARKING SPOT EVEN IF I CHECKED OUT CUZ I EXPANDED I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT A BIT MORE THE CITY AND HAVE LUCH. I WOULD LIKE TO PUBLICLY THANK TO THIS AMAZING PERSON THAT HAD SUCH AN AMAZING BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS ME AND ILL DEFINITELY LOOK FORWARD TO GO BACK ONE DAY. 🙏🏻 Wish you all the best of luck ! 🙏🏻

LOVED IT!

This must be the 6th or 7th time we stayed there on our way back from Italy. We did meet a couple back in 2018 that were coming back for their 30th time! It is like a hotel from the 1950's but with comfy beds. You either love it ( we do) or not. There are plenty of chain hotels ie Ibis etc if you prefer it. Unlike a lot of hotels the restaurant is very good, good traditional French cooking with old well charm. Location is in the old part of Laon on top of the hill. Cathedral is worth a visit. One tip, ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the Rue de Roservelt Franklin is now 'Tout directions" and we like to sleep with the windows open.

Would have been nice to have a coffee (Pod?) machine in the room.

This is a 17th century coaching inn, there is no lift however the staff are not only willing, but insistent in helping to carry luggage both upstairs and back down again. There is a car park which it is best to book and the hotel is situated on the entry to the medieval town not far from the cathedral. The restaurant serves a limited but good menu and breakfast is fine. The rooms are dated but have an individual charm.

The hotel is perfectly located in the medieval town centre but away from noise. It is very charming and set in a historical building. Our room was big and had a very historical character. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The restaurant and service are excellent. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast with excellent locally sourced products. It is super clean everywhere, with quality toiletries and plenty of quality towels in the bathroom. The parking space availability is the cherry on top if the cake! Highly recommended!

This hotel is in a good location for the town. The staff were friendly and helpful and made an excellent recommendation for a restaurant for dinner.

The lighting in the bathroom needs improvement and the water pressure to the shower is poor. We were surprised to find that, at the height of summer, the hotel’s restaurant was closed on both Mondays and Tuesdays.

We had a very warm welcome and covered parking was on site which was great. The rooms were full of character and old charm. The dining room was lovely and the food delicious. We would recommend taking dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was also first class and included delicious homemade jams to go with the croissants and fresh bread. The free range scrambled eggs were delicious and there was plenty of ham and cheese as well as fresh fruit and yoghurts. The proprietors could not do enough for you and we would definitely return to this lovely hotel in the heart of Laos, just two and a half hours’ drive from Calais

La Banniere is a charming hotel nicely situated near the cathedral in the historic centre of Laon, with secure parking on site. The staff are charming and the owner has a great knowledge of the history of the town, with some very interesting stories. Good sized, quiet room, comfortable bed, so slept well. Good breakfast with fresh laid eggs and homemade jams. Dinner is also recommended, with traditional French cuisine.

The owner and his team are extremely friendly and couldn't be more welcoming. This is a historic hotel close to the main sights of Laon. Some reviews here and elsewhere suggest that the hotel needs major refurbishment, and it is true there is some fraying round the edges, but actually the owner is getting all the basics of hotel management and provision of food right. Arguably it is unrealistic to expect a sole owner to commit to massive expenditure and also it might be unfortunate to lose some of the hotel's original features.

We took the most expensive food formula at 29 Euros, but confusingly although it appeared to be 4 courses with cheese it was in fact 3 courses without cheese. The food was very good but not plentiful (unlike breakfast which was excellent)

Great welcome back by friendly, helpful staff team - nothing was too much trouble for them. Quirky, very old hotel in amazing location in ancient City. Great meals and service.

We couldn't find anything we didn't like. The entrance to the garage is a bit narrow (but has been the same for nearly 400 years !) but we managed to fit a large car in without problems

We enjoyed our stay at La Banniere - it is brilliantly located within the lovely old town of Laon. The staff are very helpful and the rooms comfortable, if not a bit out-dated! Its charm negates its lack of mod-cons!

While we appreciate the charm of this historic building, there are some plumbing issues! Not that we wouldn't stay here again!
