Marjory, the owner, and her husband were wonderful hosts! They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until we left 2 days later. The rooms are lovely, retaining the feel of this home built in the 1600's but with totally modern en suite bathrooms. It is located on a pedestrian only street which is where the Camino de Santiago pilgrims check in. So you'll have to park a few streets away and then walk there. On street parking is free. There is a quiet garden in the back where you can relax after exploring SJPP. And it is right in the center of town so within easy walking distance of anything you'd like to see. Delicious breakfast each morning with croissants, bread, local ham and cheese. Only 4 guest rooms in this lovely home so book ahead early.

If you are driving, your GPS will only get you close given that Maison E Bernat is on a pedestrian only street. Get close, park and ask people where the pilgrim check in office is. Maison E Bernat is only about 100 feet past where the pilgrim check-in office is located. Then look for the house numbers and you'll find it. No elevator so if stairs are a problem., ask for the room on the first floor.

Cosy, warm, immaculate setup and all available requirements nearby including a church 50 metres away. I can imagine the many stores nearby being a hub of excitement in the summer and coming back everyday to this slice of paradise to take a lid off your feet was exactly what all of us need. my only regret to this place is I started the Camino instead of ended it here 😉 as o could see myself easily spending days lazing around the city to come back and rest in the beautiful 16th century built but modernised home. special thanks to Matthias who took time out of his day to have my room prepared early so I could just retire after a long day in the road that day. I recommend this place to couples, Simple’s and generally anyone that wants a slice of comfort and class while staying at St Jean.

easier question would be what didn’t I like? original woodwork ( 16th. e they ) antique dresser repurposed old fireplace beautiful and functional bathroom, shower and toilet view to backyard incredible close to centre of town and all amenities simple access in and out internet working perfectly and fast

Clean, great air conditioning, good shower, love the linen sheets for the summer, cutely decorated, very central and convenient in town

There is no clear sign that check in is with the crepe shop next door, patio is cute but lots of mosquitoes in the summer, not really a good common area otherwise, our room is a climb with luggage although we pack only with a carryon each is is fine but for heavy packers, would be more challenging

This maison is beautiful and accommodating and absolutely worth the stay! Everything about the place is gorgeous and I could not have asked for a more fantastic setting or room. 100% recommend!

The only very, very slight issue encountered is that I wasn’t aware that check out was at 10am. Not a problem, just maybe would have liked more written notice somewhere. Maybe a little sign or something. But again, this was not a terrible problem.

This place is a gem in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in an absolute perfect location in the centre of town and is within walking distance of all the restaurants and old town wall. The home is so beautifully designed and the rooms were small gems. Everything was immaculately clean and our room was beautifully appointed. Parking (free) was a 5 minute walk and just outside the walls of the town. One small note for those that have mobility issues, the town itself is on a hill and this lovely chambres d'hotes is midway up the hill. Breakfast was lovely and well put together and the owners were a delight and very charming.

Location was ideal in old part of city, & convenient to restaurants shops and the Camino Frances. The serve a great breakfast, plus they sell gelatos and snacks. Watch your head if you book private room downstairs. Lovely hosts.

Fireplace was converted into a closet . It’s mantle sticks out of the wall making it easy to bump Head into. Best to drape curtain or prop chair as a reminder to avoid walking on that side of the room. Hosts - either remove this feature or paint bright color over it.

The whole place was delightful - the room was charming and well-designed, with a great step-in shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. And the new coffee shop had delicious coffee, crepes and ice creams. There were plenty of restaurants nearby - all in all, an excellent place to stay.

Comfortable quiet room. The staff were able to support us since we speak minimal French. There is a backyard patio you can walk to the top of the hill and view the entire city. This hotel on the Camino a few steps up the hill to the Pilgrim office. You will not be disappointed 😁

Shower fabulous. Location perfect

Room has very low ceiling (attic) impacted on one bed. There is a Step down into bathroom n to exit room. These need to be marked better as all of us fell into bathroom ( forgot the step) Apart from that no issues

it was a perfect location and the room was beautiful. the owner was very sweet.

the only downside, but we worked through it is the owner does not speak any English. and I speak very little French. but we worked it out. Shes delightful
