This little boutique hotel has authentic decor from the 60s with icon pictures of film stars like Brigitte Bardo and Steve McQueen. It was rather special.

The internet connection was only available in the common areas, so we had to go downstairs to write back to our friends and make bookings.

Hotel Camou is a very quaint French Hotel on the outskirts of St Jean Pied de Port. The two ladies running the hotel are very welcoming and we felt immediately at home. The twin rooms had a double and single bed and were very comfortable and clean. We did not get to use the pool as weather was not that good during the stay but would have been very welcoming on a hot day. The breakfast is an additional but well worth it ahead of the first leg of the Camino. The breakfast was a great mix of fruit, breads, cheeses and cold meats. I would definitely stay here again. Don't worry about the church bell - it stops ringing at night.

The towels could be better and that stopped me giving a 10.

I made an error on my booking and had the wrong evening. They very kindly gave me a room in another building since they were fully booked.

This is a family hotel run by the 4th generation, the most lovely and professional hotelier family you can imagine. Very high standard of service and the rooms and public areas have clearly been refurbished, with excellent taste. The breakfast is sumptuous and a feast for the eyes. My friend plans to return to do the Camino and it is already clear thhat she will book Camu. A jewel, which we were so glad to discover.

The room was exceptional! So welcoming and comfortable with many nice details. The room and the bathroom were exceptionally clean! The hotel grounds were very well-kept and made for a wonderful place to relax and journal. The views were incredible. And the staff was very welcoming.

The lobby and the stairs going up to the rooms was a little rundown. I did have one unfortunate incident, I was in my room, and the owners of the hotel unlocked my door and just came barging in. Very alarming and unexpected. I still don’t understand why they came into my room unannounced.

We stayed for just one night at the hotel Camou in St Jean Pied de Port before starting the Camino. It was a very comfortable stay. It's a small family run hotel, there is an outside pool, which looked very nice but it was raining so we didn't use it. The breakfast was the highlight, it set us up perfectly for our first days walk on the Camino. Highly recommended.

Great location close to St. Jean. The building had lovely character and a warm feeing throughout. Staff were excellent and very welcoming. They did not do evening meals but recommended near by local restaurants. The breakfast was excellent with plenty to eat and great variety.

Everything was good - nothing to dislike.

The owners were very kind and the room was really comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the garden and pool. Everything was clean and well maintained. We were served an excellent breakfast in the morning - perfect for those starting their Camino from St Jean!

Everything was perfect. The hotel is a classic French house with a bucolic charm. The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. There's a swimming pool on the property where you can relax in the afternoon.

They're rad no air conditioner.
