Our excellent hosts provided a clean, quiet, spacious and comfortable room on the third floor of their very old but modernized home. It was located two minutes' walk across a parking lot from the magnificent medieval center of Sarlat. The room was just high enough to offer a nice window view across the police station next door and a few rooftops. The well-lit spiral stairs were tight, no surprise for such a property. Created in the attic, tour room's old structural beams gave us the feeling of authenticity without inconvenience. Breakfast was limited but good and enhanced by Alisa's homemade jams. The bed was very comfortable, and the nice shower provided plenty of hot water. Access to onsite parking was tight for our (unfortunately) "upgraded" larger SUV-type car, but we made it into the secure lot without incident. Guests should know (1) rue du College (N. end) is marked by a traffic sign denying entrance to the public, but guests are exempted, and (2) that the front door is not used for entry; the buzzer is to the left of the iron gate. First access might be easiest to park at the South end, walk 50 yds to the gate, and announce your arrival that way. Our rental car overheated and died during our visit so we spent a second day in the immediate area, and Sarlat provided everything needed to compensate. When it was time, Daniel even provided a ride to the train station so we could make it back to Bordeaux.

Alisa speaks a little English, but I found it easier to speak to her in my rusty Spanish, supplemented by English. Impressively, she speaks four languages, and either way would have worked for us. Daniel understands English at a limited level, which is a relief because my French is nonexistent.

The location was within a short walk to the medieval town center. Our host was very helpful with suggestions for things to do and welcomed us with a cold or hot refreshment. The hosts did not speak English but he was able to communicate with us effectively with a phone translation application.

We were in one of top-floor, attic rooms; the stairs were narrow so a challenge transporting our large suitcases (we are in our early 70s). Our room’s lighting was poor; we had to move a table lamp to help; the electric outlet near the bed was difficult to access with the large roof support post in the way. There was no bathroom door given the odd-sized entrance, there was a curtain however. The bathroom fan was not functioning so black mold was growing on most of the grout in the shower. Otherwise it was clean, bed was comfy, had a small tv and which worked for Netflix. The internet signal was weak. Breakfast was very casual and basic, but manageable. They did have a tray of homemade jams, which were very nice.

This has to be the best accommodation, location and hosts. Walk to everything in Sarlat. Alisa and Daniel are the perfect hosts, very kind and thoughtful. The room was outstanding A+++ 5star! Gorgeous comfortable bed and bedding, beautifully decorated and brand new private bathroom. The breakfast was amazing. Great selection of fresh fruits, yoghurt, traditional French bakery delights, home made jams and relishes with lovely coffee or tea. There was the added bonus of parking on site and we didn't use the car at all during our stay as everything was so close. Thankyou Alisa and Daniel we hope to be back again. Loved our stay with you.

We loved everything!

Water pressure in room very low and no air. conditioning. Fan in room was certainly appreciated.

Sarlat le Caneda is a stunning place with a wonderful historic centre . This chambers d’hotes is right in the centre so exploring is easy . There is secure parking ( free) . The breakfast is lovely with lots of home made jams . The hosts are friendly and Daniel made huge efforts to make sure we could access our room early .

We had a room on the top floor which had a good view and a lovely sunny window but there are quite a few steps ( not a problem for us but be aware )

Daniel and Alisa were generous hosts as they greeted us and other guests with friendly conversation, delicious breakfasts, and helpful travel suggestions. The property and room were immaculately clean. The house is located just across the street from the old town of Sarlat. Free parking is conveniently onsite. Market day is Saturday so we planned our time over the weekend (we stayed four nights) to enjoy the enormous town market spread throughout the town with artisanal cheeses, breads, other homemade goods plus most anything you could want. Lovely "slice of Sarlat life". Situated perfectly for one to launch into tours of the Dordogne River Valley with all the villages and tourist destinations.

Everything was perfect!

I loved how close to Sarlat I was and having free parking was so nice! The room was very pretty and very comfortable. Having breakfast in the morning with other travelers was a great bonus! It's fun to talk with others when you are traveling alone.

My room was on the 3rd floor with no lift (up two flights of stairs). However, the host helped me with my heavy, oversized luggage.

Greate location. Located across from the tree covered car park and a very short walk to the center of Sarlat. The host and hostess were very pleasant and accommodating. Lovely breakfasts with all the fresh breads, spreads, and juices we'd expected.

The onsite parking was tight. It was both nerve-wracking and enjoyable maneuvering through the alley to get to the parking. Recommend a small vehicle if driving through and/or staying in the villages. We had a Ford Focus hatchback.

Perfect location just off the main square / thoroughfare of Sarlat. Secure courtyard parking copes with “every” size of car and is great to have in the middle of town, especially when you’re on foreign plates. Fabulous bed - probably the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. Lovely breakfast included and a super-friendly pair of hosts. Thank you Alisa and Daniel.

Nothing.

This bed and breakfast was perfectly placed for the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda and the rest of Dordogne. Alisa and Daniel were wonderful hosts and offered great suggestion on activities and restaurants. The breakfast was fabulous with a range of fresh fruits, yoghurt and the freshest croissants you’ve ever had.

Nothing.
